Beef Usage and Dietitians' Perceptions of Beef Quality in Institutional Foodservice (단체급식소 쇠고기 이용 실태 및 영양사의 쇠고기 품질에 대한 인식)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the usage of beef and foodservice managers' perceptions of beef quality by foodservice type. A survey was conducted on 546 dietitians, and 499 acceptable responses were used for data analysis. By weight, pork was the most used meat in foodservice institutions, followed by poultry and beef. More than half of the foodservices selected meat suppliers by competitive bidding. Approximately 85.8% of the respondents used Hanwoo beef, followed by Australian beef and Youku beef. Beef type differed significantly by foodservice type (P<0.001): most of the schools and social welfare facilities used Hanwoo beef, whereas most hospitals and business/industry operations used Australian beef. When purchasing beef, safety of beef was rated the most important, while eco-friendliness was rated the least important. Most of the dietitians understood that marbling is one of the determinants of the beef quality, but were not aware of other components. Dietitians that selected Hanwoo and Youku beef were more satisfied with quality, taste, nutrition, freshness, country of origin, package, customer, preference, and availability for various menus than those who used imported beef. Dietitians who used Hanwoo beef were the most satisfied with country of origin, whereas the others were the most satisfied with safety. Since the dietitians are in charge of planning menus and selecting meat suppliers at foodservice institutions, they should make knowledgeable decisions by understanding meat supply systems and quality of beef.

Survey for the Management of Reservoirs under Control of Local Authorities of Reservoir of City.Gun in Korea (시.군 관리 저수지 실태 조사 및 정비방안에 관한 연구)

  • There are many agricultural facilities (46.7%) that have been over 30 years in the Republic of Korea (the ratio of reservoirs built before 1945 is 53%, from 1946 to 1971 is 35%). In the case of reservoirs which do most important functions among these facilities, only 3,000 reservoirs are managed by Korea Rural Community & Agriculture Corporation (KRC) and the other 15,000 reservoirs are managed by local authorities (City and Gun). But, 15,000 reservoirs included in City. Gun have been built in more wide area than KRC and the reservoir management system has not been operated well because of shortage of budget and manpower of the local authorities. Particularly, the abnormal weather happened during every summer season recently has ruined a lot of rural community facilities. So flood control function have been more important than irrigation function in agricultural reservoir system and it may be required to introduce new safe, management and maintenance techniques in City Gun reservoirs. So we investigated landscapes and deteriorations of agricultural reservoirs managed by local small governments for revealing not only present usage but also future value. Survey shows that there are no structural managements except typical hydrological reportings and the deterioration of small darn is very serious. There are needs for more systematic management system and equipment methods. Therefore, this study may suggest that reservoir (that takes charge of the greatest deal of weight in all agricultural facilities) must be considered as new concept of the usage and the unification. On the other hand, reservoir must be also developed as amenity resources, natural circumstances and district values.

Development of LPWA based Bus Entry Notification Systems for Smartphone Loss Prevention at Bus Stop Charging Stand (버스정류소 스마트폰 충전대에서 스마트폰의 분실 방지를 위한 LPWA 기반 버스 진입 알림 시스템 개발)

  • Recently, the solar module for charging internet devices is installed in crowded areas to offers services so that people can charge their smartphones or tablets. But this charging module can not be linked with the information related to a bus approach so people are subject to let their belongings such as smartphone, tablet pc at the bus stop while they are still charging it. This paper proposes a system to inform the smart phone when the bus is accessed by using the LPWA technology and BLE technology to resolve such under-failures. This experimental result showed that the power usage of LPWA based bus entry systems is an average of X, confirming that the long period usage of low-power can be possible for low power consumption in this results, enabling information on the bus to be transmitted to smart phones using Advertising mode of BLE.

  • Airline industry which is depressed owing to terror attack on September 11 and Iraq War in early 21 century through high fuel cost and continuous recession in the second half of 90's is gradually recovering from the year of 2004. So demand of airline industry is rising step by step and investment of airlines toward customer service is also going up. Recently some mega carriers in head customer service in-flight internet service. In addition, so do domestic airlines and others ant to be backward. Many Study on usage attitude toward internet have been argued continuously as a result of everyday life using internet. Although there were survey for the revenue perspective of the firm, study on the side of the consumer is so rare. This study used the model of DEA -conjoint what users of the in-flight internet service now attitude and preference important factors to use. As a result, factors chosen are method to charge, service speed of internet, quality of contents provided and ease of approach toward information. This study presents airlines supplying in-flight internet service now to differentiation strategy for each segment.

A Study on Equitable Pricing Models for E-journals through an Analysis of the Current Pricing Systems (전자저널의 가격모형과 가격책정 현황에 관한 연구)

  • Pricing for e-journals has become more complex than before-certainly much more complex than print pricing has ever been. E-journals charge either a fiat fee based on print, user, library size, usage, and combination. A survey of publisher's pricing structure found that print based model is popular followed by user based model. The current pricing situation is far from equitable and can be improved if publishers can be coerced to change their pricing practices. This study focus on a number of possible pricing models that may supplement and/or possibly replace the current print based model. With the possibility that its pricing will eventually be based strictly according to usage, may lead to the most equitable pricing model as well as the most efficient use of society's resources. Libraries can alleviate the pricing problem by encouraging library organizations and university consortia to exploit their potential monopoly power into a bilateral monopoly situation.

Factors affecting the satisfaction of persons with disabilities at community oral care centers (일부지역 장애인구강진료센터 이용 만족도에 미치는 요인)

  • Background: To identify the factors that affect the current status and satisfaction of people with disabilities at community oral care centers. Methods: A structured self-administered survey, including five questions on facility environment, five on usage procedure, four on medical skill, four on care cost, three on friendliness, and three on satisfaction, was administered to 218 residents of the G-disabled community care center. It comprised a Likert 5-point scale (strongly agree, 5 points; agree, 4 points; moderate, 3 points; disagree, 2 points; not at all, 1 point). The reliability of the measurement tool was 0.932 for Cronbach's α. Results: The evaluation of community oral care centers for the disabled showed that the environment was hygienic (4.42±0.73), reservation system was well maintained (4.18±0.95), and the dentist-in-charge was satisfied with the treatment (4.37±0.62). The participants agreed that the details were sufficiently explained (4.29±0.71). However, in terms of medical expenses, the score of "have fully heard the explanation of medical expenses and reductions" was 3.88±0.92. The factors affecting satisfaction were sex, final educational background in the facility environment, usage procedure, and medical skill. Conclusion: To increase the satisfaction of people with disabilities at community oral care centers, it is necessary to establish a facility environment and service according to the patients' need and increase the reduction or exemption benefits between different treatment cost categories. Oral health management policies for the disabled should be developed based on these factors, so that the oral care of vulnerable groups in blind spots can be maintained.

  • As mobile communications service is growing every single year in Korea, it has pulled the interest of many researchers as wells as the executives. This research is aimed to find out factors of the mobile market that affect the utilization of mobile communication. We adopted a survey method with a pinpointed focus on how users' profile and individual experience relates with the utilization of mobile communication. For this objective, first, we primarily analyzed the mobile users' characteristics and service usage patterns. Then, we developed a conceptual model and hypotheses that are empirically examined using a covariance structure analysis, which will contribute to investigating critical success factors in mobile business. Some suggestions constitute the remaining part of this research. First, user characteristic is an important factor that affects the amount expended for mobile service. Second, user experience is another critical aspect that is highly linked with mobile payment. In alignment with our research, we propose user characteristics such as age and income, and user experience about mobile internet usage and mobile contents usage are of great significance in devising both near- and long-term mobile business strategy.

  • This paper presents a new airport slot allocation model that uses AIP model to balance the use of airport slots within existing capacity based on the limitation of capacity expansion of airport slots. This new model is called a 'balanced airport slot allocation model', which integrates the airport facility usage system, which is applied independently without linkage, with the airport slot allocation system, introducing the market logical characteristic of 'administered incentive pricing. In this paper, we propose a new proposal to dramatically change the airport slot allocation system in the current situation where the expansion of facilities is limited in the urgent problem of the airport slot shortage, and it is necessary to balance the airport slot allocation. Airline paying for the use of an airport slot can determine the slot of the desired time slot based on the costs incurred by differentiating in the new airport slot allocation model. This is a system that allows the airlines that are willing to pay a lot of money in the market to use preferred airport slots.

  • Recently, usage of electric and electronic system for car increases rapidly. Consequently power monitoring supplied to the system is essential for management and controlling. Generally, battery status is monitored through measuring and diagnosing the current measurement method utilizing Hall Effect. Therefore, in this paper, we analysed magnetic field to develop the solution of DC current sensor using Hall Effect which is the core of design and development. By analysing the magnetic field by FEM using Maxwell 3D software, the location of the highest output current and stable part in the Hall IC sensor was shown. Also, the optimal core design of DC current sensor using parametric and Simplex method was presented. A car battery charge and discharge process dependant on time effect on the changing of magnetic field was simulated and compared to the result from the experiment result of actual vehicle.

VEHICLE ELECTRIC POWER SIMULATOR FOR OPTIMIZING THE ELECTRIC CHARGING SYSTEM

  • The vehicle electric power system, which consists of two major components: a generator and a battery, which have to provide numerous electrical and electronic systems with enough electrical energy. A detailed understanding of the characteristics of the electric power system, electrical load demands, and the driving environment such as road, season, and vehicle weight is required when the capacities of the generator and the battery are to be determined for a vehicle. An easy-to-use and inexpensive simulation program may be needed to avoid the over/under design problem of the electric power system. A vehicle electric power simulator is developed in this study. The simulator can be utilized to determine the optimal capacities of generators and batteries. To improve the expandability and easy usage of the simulation program, the program is organized in modular structures, and is run on a PC. Empirical electrical models of various generators and batteries, and the structure of the simulation program are presented. For executing the vehicle electric power simulator, data of engine speed profile and electric loads of a vehicle are required, and these data are obtained from real driving conditions. In order to improve the accuracy of the simulator, numerous driving data of a vehicle are logged and analyzed.
