Prediction methods on tunnel-excavation induced surface settlement around adjacent building

  • With the rapid development of urban underground traffic, the study of soil deformation induced by subway tunnel construction and its settlement prediction are gradually of general concern in engineering circles. The law of soil displacement caused by shield tunnel construction of adjacent buildings is analyzed in this paper. The author holds that ground surface settlement based on the Gauss curve or Peck formula induced by tunnel excavation of adjacent buildings is not reasonable. Integrating existing research accomplishments, the paper proposed that surface settlement presents cork distribution curve characters, skewed distribution curve characteristics and normal distribution curve characteristics when the tunnel is respectively under buildings, within the scope of the disturbance and outside the scope of the disturbance. Calculation formulas and parameters on cork distribution curve and skewed distribution curve were put forward. The numerical simulation, experimental comparison and model test analysis show that it is reasonable for surface settlement to present cork distribution curve characters, skewed distribution curve characteristics and normal distribution curve characteristics within a certain range. The research findings can be used to make effective prediction of ground surface settlement caused by tunnel construction of adjacent buildings, and to provide theoretical guidance for the design and shield tunnelling.

  • Light Rail Transit (LRT) is optimized vehicle system for complex urban circumstance. LRT systems have many merits such as improved accuracy and safety. There are many LRT systems such as monorail, tram, automated guideway transit, linear induction motor propulsion and so on. These systems have been operated in Japan and other advanced countries. In Korea, local government has many projects to apply the advanced LRT system. But there are no standards regulation, performance test regulation and construction regulation for monorail system, linear induction motor system and tram in Korea. We expect that standardization brings economical construction and safety. The linear induction motor system has been usually applied to subway in Japan and ART(Advanced Rapid Transit) in Canada. In Korea, the linear induction motor system has been adopted for Yong-In LRT and currently under construction. This paper presents signalling system and TCMS(train control and monitoring system) of linear induction motor system.

NATM 터널 굴진 시 안전관리를 위한 재해영향요인 및 중요도에 관한 연구 (A Study on Disaster Influencing Factors and Importance for Safety Management in NATM Tunnel Drilling)

  • 도심지 지하철, 지하차도 건설을 위한 NATM 터널공법에서는 다양한 재해원인들이 존재한다. 본 연구에서는NATM 터널 굴진 시 주요한 재해영향요인을 도출하기 위해 선행연구를 통해 발생 가능한 위험요인을 천공작업, 장약 및 발파, 버럭처리, 부석정리 그리고 지보재 작업 항목으로 구분하였다. 다음으로 전문가 인터뷰 조사를 통하여 21개의 세부 측정지표로 구체화하였고 AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) 설문 및 분석을 진행하였다. 분석 결과, 터널공사 관계자들은 부석정리 작업을 가장 영향이 큰 재해영향요인으로 선택하였으며 이를 우선관리 요소로 설정하는 것이 필요하다는 결론을 도출하였다.

수치해석을 통한 지하철 구조물 인접 굴착에 따른 보강공법 적용사례연구 (A Case Study on Reinforcement Method by Excavation Adjacent to the Subway Tunnel using Numerical Analysis)

  • 최근 들어 대규모 및 대심도 지반굴착공사가 증가하고 있으며, 굴착으로 인한 인접구조물들의 붕괴사례는 건설수요와 더불어 꾸준히 증가하고 있고, 특히 도심지 개발 및 불량한 조건에서의 지하철 구조물과 인접하여 진행되는 굴착으로 인해 발생될 수 있는 문제점이 많아지고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 서울시 내에서 수행된 16개 현장에 대한 사례연구를 통해 적용된 지하굴착공법과 보강공법의 현황을 고찰하였다. 또한 대표 현장을 선택하여 안정성 분석을 실시하였고, 적용된 굴착공법 및 보강방안에 대해 검토하고 이에 따른 공법의 적정성에 대해 검토하였다. 그 결과 16개 현장의 지층 분포상태는 모두 상부로부터 매립층, 그 하부는 퇴적층, 풍화토, 풍화암, 연암층의 순으로 분포하고 있었다. 또한 중요 구조물에 인접하여 굴착공사를 진행할 경우 구조물의 위치 및 지층조건에 매우 큰 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 도심지 특성상 일반 가시설 공법을 적용하여 지하철구조물과 인접하여 굴착이 진행될 경우는 별도의 보강공법의 적용이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

경량전철사업의 RAMS 활동을 지원하기 위한 SE전산도구 적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the application of Computerized Systems Engineering Tool to Support RAMS Activities for Light Rail Transit Project)

  • There have been growing demand of Light Rail Transit(LRT) which have a lot of advantages such as construction costs lower than the recent subway, reduction of operational costs, availability of line planning, operation of railway non-beneficiary region, flexible operations of trains, unmanned operation and also have eco-friendly advantages, it is now becoming urban railway systems when environmental issues have been highlighted all over the world. Therefore, RAMS(Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) Process and activities for effective implementation of light rail transit projects have become a very important element, and also the utilization of computerized tools to perform these more systematically and productively is sought after these days. In this paper, we have presented a plan that can support the RAMS activities by utilizing the function of the computerized SE(Systems Engineering) tool(CORE$^{(R)}$). Through support of the computerized SE tool, it would be possible more clear and efficient railway project execution.

도시 교통량 특성을 반영한 이동통신 시뮬레이터의 설계 및 구현 (A Design and Implementation of the Mobile Communication Simulator with Urban Traffic Characteristics)

  • Traditionally, Mobile Teletraffic model consists of two sub-models, i.e. the network traffic model and the traffic source model. In this paper, we present the traffic source model by developing MobCall (Mobile Call Simulator) which analyses various mobile wireless environments based on regional characteristics that the base stations are located. User mobility is presented by regional average vehicle speeds and the transportation share rate. Moreover, the user mobility on subway, which is increasing in urban area, is considered in MobCall. And also, user's movements on highway are considered in MobCall. The object-oriented simulation platform, C++SIM, is used to implement MobCall. Using MobCall, the accumulated number of calls in residential and commercial regions, the handoff rate with respect to traffic sources of Seoul, the handoff rate on highway, and the handoff rate according to the call duration are presented. MobCall enables the simulation of dynamic handoff buffering and functional entity control of one base station according to the changes in user's calling pattern at the design phase. Also, when a new town is under construction by a detailed plan, MobCall is used to design the mobile network with regional characteristics and user mobility considered.

대구경 Shield TBM의 암반층 굴착속도 (Net Penetration Rate of a Large Diameter Shield TBM in Hard Rock)

  • In No. 1 tunnel for Kwnagju urban subway construction, net penetration rate of the shield TBM was analyzed. This tunnel of 540 m length is located in soil layers at starting and in hard rocks such as amphibolite and granitic gneiss at ending with 84 m length. The net penetration rate was dropped down to 2∼11 cm/hr in rock while 50∼80 cm/hr in soil. Theoretical penetration rate is analyzed in conditions of machine and rock in order to compare the actual net penetration rate. The relationships between net penetration rate and thrust force is also investigated in this report.

  • Recently, the construction of road, subway, railroad, and microtunnel for electricity supplement have been increased because of increasement of traffic in urban area, increasement of industrial transportation, and the network between cities in Korea. The deterioration of tunnel structure may occur by various internal and external factors and particularly, tunnel structures tend to contact with either underground water or harmful ions. Therefore, leakage sometimes occurred through the cracks and joints of concrete lining. The leakage in tunnel may affect the durability of concrete lining. In this study, to evaluate the durability and deterioration of concrete lining in tunnel structures, we were performed the various experiments for compressive strength. Compressive strength obtained from nondestructive inspection and compressive strength test varies according to the concrete lining conditions.

  • the Effect of steel pipe reinforced multi-step grouting(SPRG) technique to inrove the ground far ahead of the excavation face was investigated by means of numerical analysis. It was found taht the nonlinear 3-D FEM program performed well to evaluate the usefulness of the SPRG technique in soft ground tunnelling, and about 20% of settlement control in this particular case possible. Therefore in urban subway tunnel construction, the New Austirial Tunnelling Method can be satisfactorily applied even in poor ground conditon with aid of the SPRG technique.

고무차륜형식 경량전철 차량 알루미늄 구조체 신뢰성 분석 연구 (Analysis on reliability of the aluminium carbody of the rubber tired AGT)

  • Recently, so as to solve the urban transportation problem the LRT(Light Rail Transit) system has been studied on the essential technology and the engineering know-how, which lead lower construction cost and higher reliability. The localization development of rubber tired AGT(Automatic Guided Trainsit) system has performed from 1999 to 2004, as a national project of the Minister of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs. For the application of the rubber tired AGT system in Busan Subway 3-2 Line, this study is focused on the reliability of aluminium profiles vehicle carbody and the establishment of the test and evaluation technologies. In this paper, 3D modeling simulation was applied to the load test of aluminium vehicle carbody. The reliability of the vehicle carbody was estimated as the fatigue test of welded aluminium profiles. From the test and simulation results, it could be concluded that the developed rubber tired AGT shows a good structural reliability and integrity.
