Although low spatial resolution satellite images like MODIS and GOCI can be important to observe land surface, it is often difficult to visually interpret the imagery because of the low contrast by prevailing cloud covers. We proposed a simple and adaptive stretching algorithm to enhance image contrast over land areas in cloudy images. The proposed method is basically a linear algorithm that stretches only non-cloud pixels. The adaptive linear stretch method uses two values: the low limit (L) from image statistics and upper limit (U) from low boundary value of cloud pixels. The cloud pixel value was automatically determined by pre-developed empirical function for each spectral band. We used MODIS and GOCI images having various types of cloud distributions and coverage. The adaptive contrast stretching method was evaluated by both visual interpretation and statistical distribution of displayed brightness values.

An Economic selection of specification limits is considered for a given target value in a complete inspection plan. Each item is inspected, and if it meets the specification, it is accepted. Items less than the lower specification limit are scrapped or sold at a reduced price, and those greater than the upper specification limit are reworked. Cost factors to be considered are economic loss caused by quality deviations, rework cost and scrapping cost. Methods for finding the optimal specification limits are given for the cases of piecewise linear loss function and quadratic loss function with illustrative examples.

Uncertain factors in finical markets make the prediction of future returns and risk of asset much difficult. In this paper, a model,assuming the admissible errors on expected returns and risks of assets, assisted in the multiperiod mean variance portfolio selection problem is built. The model considers transaction costs, upper bound on borrowing risk-free asset constraints, cardinality constraints and threshold constraints. Cardinality constraints limit the number of assets to be held in an efficient portfolio. At the same time, threshold constraints limit the amount of capital to be invested in each stock and prevent very small investments in any stock. Because of these limitations, the proposed model is a mix integer dynamic optimization problem with path dependence. The forward dynamic programming method is designed to obtain the optimal portfolio strategy. Finally, to evaluate the model, our result of a meaning example is compared to the terminal wealth under different constraints.

The flammable gas monitoring system is to be provided in cargo pump rooms of tankers in accordance with the requirements of SOLAS regulations, and flammable gas detectors are to be arranged in a proper position. In this paper, simulation tests and CFD analysis are carried out under the actual ventilation conditions of pump rooms in the ship in service. Based on the results, a new guidelines for an arrangement of flammable gas detectors are suggested.

For the safe handling of acetone, the flash point, the explosion limit at $25^{\circ}C$ and the temperature dependence of the explosion limits were investigated. And the AIT for acetone were experimented. By using the literatures data, the lower and upper explosion limits of acetone recommended 2.5 vol% and 13.0 vol%, respectively. In this study, the lower flash points of acetone recommended $-20^{\circ}C$. This study was determined relationship between the AITs and the ignition delay times by using ASTM E659-78 apparatus for acetone, and the experimental AIT of acetone was $565^{\circ}C$. The new equations for predicting the temperature dependence of the explosion limits of acetone is proposed. The values calculated by the proposed equations were a good agreement with the literature data.

Floating fixed scroll adopted for tip sealing enhancement in a scroll compressor is always under the influence of tipping moment produced by internal gas forces. Unless the tipping moment is property compensated by some restoring moment, the fired scroll would suffer tipping movement, degrading the compressor performance. The condition on which the tipping movement of the fixed scroll can be suppressed has been investigated analytically. For no tipping movement, the floating fixed scroll should be suspended on the main frame at proper level. The upper limit of the stable suspension is the axial location of the o-rings adopted for a back pressure chamber sealing on the rear side of the fixed scroll, and the lower limit is the mid-height of the scroll wrap.

The concentrations of serum calcium, inorganic phosphorus, sodium and potassium from 24 cows with left displacement of abomasum and 21 cows with right displacement of abomasum on pre and postoperation were determined. 1. The preoperative levels of serum calcium in left and right displacement of abomasum were below normal and returned to normal levels postoperatively. 2. The preoperative levels of serum inorganic phosphorus in left and right displacement of abomasum showed slight increase preoperatively and consistent slight rise postoperatively. 3. The preoperative levels of serum sodium in left and right displacement of abomasum were slightly below normal and maintained low levels postoperatively. 4. The preoperative levels of serum patassium in left and right displacement of abomasum were low normal limit and increased to upper normal limit postoperatively.

The ham less than the lower specification limit are changed another products or at a discounted price, and those greater than the upper specification limit are reworked. A profit model is developed which involves selling price, production cost, rework cost and the cost which is incurred by imperfect quality. Methods for finding the optimal specification limits are derived for the case of piecewise linear loss function with an industrial case study.

For the safe handling of n-hexane, the explosion limit at $25^{\circ}C$, the temperature dependence of the explosion limits and the lower flash point were investigated. And AITs(auto-ignition temperatures) by ignition delay time for n-hexane were experimented. By using the literatures data, the lower and upper explosion limits of n-hexane recommended 1.0 Vol% and 8.0 Vol%, respectively. In this study, the lower flash points of n-hexane recommended $-23^{\circ}C$. This study measured relationship between the AITs and the ignition delay times by using ASTM E659-78 apparatus for n-hexane, and the experimental AIT of n-hexane was $240^{\circ}C$. The new equations for predicting the temperature dependence of the explosion limits of n-hexane is proposed. The values calculated by the proposed equations were a good agreement with the literature data.

In this study a control system with variable gain schedule using real speed and moving direction is proposed to control a Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor (PMLSM) with Z-axis operation structure. The implementation of the controller is designed on the DSP TMS320C32 board. PMLSM is operated by using 4-point absolute positions profile with each velocity, acceleration and deceleration. The direction of the initial angle action for starting is set from the lower limit point to the upper limit point on PMLSM operation stroke. The effectiveness of a control system with variable gain schedule is demonstrated by some experimental results.
