The purpose of study was to measure to body Surface area and the rational rate of Korean adult's women. The subjects are 20 years old to 49 years old women (Their bust width ranges from 74.5 to 101.5 cm, the height from 144.6 to 163.3 cm, the weight from 44.2 to 74.0 kg, Rohrer Index from 1. 02 to 1. 89). As the experimental method, both the gypsum method, by which the shape of body can be copied as it is, and weighing method, from which planed body surface area can be measured with consistant thickness of polypropylene film used. The results were obtained as follows. 1. After dividing the Korean adult's women into four groups (single and married women in their twenties, those in their thirties, those in their fourties). The change of body surface area was reviewed in accordance with age groups. No great difference among age group was showed in whole body surface area. 2. average value of body surface area is 1, 514m^2 and the part of trunk shows the biggest difference to the age groups. 3. After dividing the middle of body into two groups, the relation of symmetry of each parts is reviewed with difference in body surface area. The results shows that the part of head & neck and lower limbs are symmetrical. The part of trunk and upper limbs are unsymmetrical. 4. Regional rates of each part of whole body surface area are follows. head $4.98\%$, each-lobes $0.46\%$, neck $2.01\%$, face$2.48\%$, upper trunk $19.64\%$, lower trunk $13.91\%$, upper armpits $1.76\%$, lower armpits $12.52\%$, hands $4.64\%$, thighs $18.89\%$, lower legs$13.10\%$, feet $6.01\%$.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate relations and effectiveness about mountain climbling exercise with different level of support surfaces by analyzing heart rate and EMG data. A total of 10 male college students with no musculoskeltal disorder were recruited for this study. Method: The biomechanical analysis was performed using heart rate monitor (Polar V800, Polar Electro Oy, Finland), step-box, exercise mat, and EMG device (QEMG8, Laxtha Inc. Korea, sampling frequency = 1,024 Hz, gain = 1,000, input impedance > 1012 Ω, CMRR > 100 dB). In this research, step-box were used to create different surface levels on the upper body (flat surface, 10% of subject's height, 20% of subject's height, and 30% of subject's hight). Based on these different conditions, data was collected by performing mountain climbing exercise during 30 seconds. Subjects were given 5 minutes of break to prevent muscular fatigue after each exercise. For each dependent variable, a one-way analysis of variance with repeated measures was conducted to find significant differences and Bonferroni post-hoc test was performed. Results: The results of this study showed that exercise intensity was reduced statistically as increased surface level on the upper body. Muscle activity of the upper rectus abdominis and biceps femoris for 30% of surface level was significantly higher than the corresponding values for flat surface. However, the opposite was found in the rectus femoris. In general, muscle activity of the lower rectus abdominis, erector spinae, external oblique abdominis, and gluteus maximus increased when surface level increased, but the differences were not significant. Conclusion: As a result, the increase in surface level of the body would change muscle activity of the upper body, indicating that different surface level of the upper body may cause significant effect on particular muscles to be more active during mountain climbing exercise. Based on results of this study, it is suggested to set up an appropriate surface level to target particular muscle to expect an effective training. It is also important to set adequate surface levels to create an effective training condition for preventing exercise injuries.
The present study provides reference data required for the design of clothing for the elderly by analyzing the body surface area during fitness motion based on 3D scan data of Korean elderly women. This study was conducted with the procedures of (1) survey of motions and main muscles for fitness, (2) acquisition of 3D scan data, and (3) analysis of rate of change for body surface area during fitness motion. Acquisition of 3D body scan data was obtained from seven elderly females (age: 64-77). We selected 66 anatomical landmarks (40 upper body and 22 lower body) by referring to previous studies. Body surface was segmented by connecting the landmarks marked on the 3D scan data acquired. Analysis of body surface area was conducted in terms of the change rate of surface area in 9 postures of elbow 0°, 90° and 180° for flexion, shoulder 90°, 180° for flexion, shoulder 0°, 180° for abduction, hip 90° for flexion, and knee 90° for flexion compared to the those in the standing posture. The amount of changes in body surface area were 12%-62% in the upper body, 15%-77% in the arm, and 10%-51% in the lower body. A future study on the rate of change of body surface length is needed; in addition, a study on how to apply the results of body surface area and body surface length analysis to clothing pattern design is also necessary.

Obesity is excess body weight, defined as a body mass index (BMI) over 30 kg/m2. or 20% over than relative body weight (RBW). We can consider the surface temperature of obesity patients is related with fat distribution and differs from that of non obesity people. The temperature is measured by using Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging(DITI). DITI was taken on 109 people without any specific disease. Among those subjects, obesity group is 77 and non obesity is 32. We measured the surface temperature by describing regular square on the upper arm, lower arm, palm, upper leg, lower leg, foot, upper abdomen and lower abdomen. The temperature of upper leg, upper abdomen and lower abdomen was low (p<0.001) and that of palm and foot was high (p<0.05) in obesity group. The temperature and the difference of lower arm to palm and lower leg to foot correlated with RBW. These results suggest the surface temperature in obesity group differ remarkably from that in non obesity group.

The early stage of 3D anthropometry data has been used to obtain qualitative rather than quantitative information. However recent 3D body scanners as a common research tool for anthropormatric measurments have made it possible to obtain body surface data of sufficient resolution and accuracy. The purpose of this study is finally to develop motorcycle jacket for enhanced comfort and fit, to test the accuracy and reliability of 3D measurments of motorcycle riding posture, and to analyze the change in 20's adult male's body surface measurements between the standard anthropometric position and motorcycle riding posture. The results of this study were as follows: There were no significant differences between the study and Size Korea measurments in total traditional measuring items and most of measuring items, such as length, circumference antropometric items and interscye items though not waist back length and upper arm circumference. A comparison of 3D body surface measurments in the two different measuring postures, the bodysurface measurments such as waist front length, biacromion length, front interscye, arm length, underarm length in the motorcycle riding posture decreased than that in basic posture, whereas waist back length, back interscye, C.T.W length increased. The body surface measurments such as chest, bust, upper circumference in the motorcycle riding posture decreased than that in basic posture, whereas neck, waist, hip, elbow circumference increased.

The Purposes of this study were 1)to find the body surface total line and segment line significantly(${\alpha}$=0.05) changed by the leg movement including all movement direction of hip joint, knee joint and ankle joint for the more functional clothing. 2)to classify them into 3 types-expansion type, contraction type, expansion & contraction type, and 3)to identify the characteristics of the body surface length changes. 10 Crosswise and 5 lengthwise body surface total lines and 48 crosswise & 39 lengthwise body surface segment lines of 26 female college students aged from 18 to 24 years were measured directly on the body surface and were analyzed by ANOVA & Multiple Comparison Test (Tukey). The results were as following : Body surface total lines significantly changed were all the body surface total lines except abdoman girth, 1/2thigh girth of lower leg and ankle girth, and these were classified into 3 types : Center front leg line belonged to expansion & contraction type, whereas lateral leg line, legscye girth, and total crotch length belonged to contraction type. The rest belonged to expansion type. Knee girth showed maximum expansion, whereas center front leg line showed maximum contraction. Body surface total lines have shown large expansion crosswise whereas lengthwise they have mainly shown contraction. At least more than one component segment line of each body surface total lines except abdoman girth and ankle girth have shown significant change. Top segment of inner leg line showed maximum expansion. whereas just below top segment of center front leg line showed maximum contraction. Crosswise all the body surface segment lines have shown expansion except inner back segments of thigh girth and 1/2thigh girth of upper leg which have shown contraction. Lengthwise they have shown both expansion and contraction according to the location of front or back, and below or upper 1/2thigh girth line except the component segment lines of lateral leg line, which has shown contraction only.(cf. figure 2. figure 3. and table 2-2).

This study was done to classify children's somatotypes and to provide the fundamental data or their clothing sizing system for the purpose of designing patterns fur children's wear and standardizing sizes of ready-made clothes. The sampling was done for 7-8 years-old-girl living in Pusan and Kyungsangnam-do. Data from each girl comprises 33 anthropometic measurments and 7 photogrphic measurments, based on the somatometric characteristics of girls which I had obtained. Factor analysis, cluster analysis, discriminant analysis were performed for statistical analysis of the data. Seven factors which explain 76.49% of the whole variances were extracted. The thirst and second factors which explain more than 70% of the whole variances represent 'horizontal size 'and 'vortical size', which characterize most aspects of the body shape of the subjects. On the basis of the cluster analysis, three different upper body types were categorized. Type 1 has quite long surface length of the upper body and rising shoulders and are close to the averages of this age group. Type 2 has highest stature, biggest frame, dropped shoulders and surface length of the upper body similar to the type 1. Type 3 has shortest stature, smallest frame and sloping shoulders. According to the analysis to discriminate somatotypes of the upper body by this age group, the discriminative items in discriminant function are follows. As this group, waist circumference of discriminant function 1 and front length and length between both shoulder points of discriminant function 2 have large coefficient values.
This study is done to classify the upper body shapes for late elementary schoolgirls. The sampling was done for 11~12 years-old-girls resident in Busan and Kyungnam. Based on the somatometric charateristics of them, 33 anthropometic and 7 photogrphic measurment data were acquired from every girl. These data are statistically analyzed with the following methods; Factor Analysis, Cluster Analysis, and Discriminant Analysis. Resulting from the factor analysis, it is shown that 79.95% of the whole variances can be explained with 8 factors. Through the cluster analysis, 3 types of upper body shapes can be categorized as follows: Type I has average horizontal size, big vertical size and lots of protruded chest ; Type III has big horizontal size, the mean vertical size, and big upper angle of the back ; Type II has small horizontal and vertical size and long surface length of the upper body. Through the discriminant analysis, the high discriminative items in discriminant function are follows: Upper chest circumference, arm length and waist front length of discriminant function I and waist depth, front length, back breadth, nipple to nipple breadth and upper chest circumference of discriminant function II have large coefficient values.
This study was to provide the fundamental data for a scientific and rational clothing construction by investigating the length variation of the upper body surface, using the method of surgical tape. The subjects were 15 early elementary schoolgirls in Busan area classified by three somatotypes, Arm-movements were consisted of 6 types. The statistical analyses used in this study were mean, standard deviation and the ANOVA and LSD procedure. The results of the analysis of the length of the upper body surface are as follows: By arm-movements, in the items of horizontal, front neck base girth, back upper bust girth, back bust girth and back under bust girth were increased and the other standard lines were apt to be decreased. In the items of vertical, all standard lines of front side and side seam length showed increased, the lines of bark side were apt to be decreased. The shoulder length represented the maximum rate of decrease($-36.59\%{\~}-48.98\%$) in M6($180^{\circ}$) and the side seam showed the maximum rate of increase($49.74\%{\~}59.22\%$) in the same movement.

The aim of the present stud)r has been to obtain new and additional data allolwing a better design of sports garments as well as a better choice among some materiales, through measure-ment of body surface changes in the upper trunk in movement, measurement on the effects of local heating on other parts of the body and measurement of the thermal resistance of 6 types of materials applied on a manikin. In the first experiment, the upper trunk was divided in 32 Parts, the surface of which was measured by the tape method for two upper limb positions: extension at $90^{\circ}$ and $180^{\circ}$. In the second experiment, skin temperature, local thermal sensations and whole body thermal sensation were measured every 5 minutes during 40 minutes. The four areas of the shoulder, abdomen, hande and feet were heated with the hot pack at $50^{\circ}C$. In the third experiment, the regional thermal resistance of the various materials selected, in two different cases of clothing ease, have been measured by using a thermal manikin. Resultes of experiments were: 1. Extensions cause the upper front part of the trunk surface to lengthen vertically while the back tends to stretch in width. 2. Skin temperatures of the upper limbs are influenced by the abdomen and shoulder boatings. The correlation between the whole body thermal sensation and the upper trunk thermal sensation is significantly asserted. 3. Ceramic and aluminium coated materiales offer the most effective thermal resistance; ease in clothing increases the thermal resistance at the breast and the abdomen as well as the clo value of the materials.
