Three naturalized taxa in Korea such as Scleranthus annuus L., Verbena bonariensis L. and Hordeum jubatum L. were newly recorded. Short descriptions and illustrations for the these species were provided. Especially, Scleranthus L. is first recorded as a new genus of Korean flora.

A fungal survey that targeted the tribe Arachnopezizeae (Hyaloscyphaceae, Helotiales) was conducted in Korea. One variety belonging to Proliferodiscus and one species belonging to Rodwayella are recorded for the first time from Korea. Proliferodiscus inspersus var. magniascus differs from P. earoleucus by its amyloid reaction in ascal apices and larger asci. Rodwayella citrinula is distinguished from other members of the genus by small ascospores and its occurrence on grasses. The descriptions, illustrations and cultural characteristics of the species are provided.

Oncholaimid nematode, Oncholaimus secundicollis Shimada, Kajihara and Mawatari, 2009, is firstly reported based on a comparative morphological study. The present specimens of O. secundicollis are collected from rocky intertidal seagrass on the eastern coast of Korea. Oncholaimus secundicollis is distinguished from all of its congeners by the following combination of morphological characteristics: buccal cavity large with thick cuticular wall and three teeth, left subventral tooth larger than right subventral or dorsal teeth, and the presence of two remarkable precloacal papillae with nine pairs of cloacal setae and single ventral tail papilla with two pairs of short setae. In this study, we provide taxonomic description and illustration of unrecorded species of the genus Oncholaimus.

The measurements of Ditylenchus acutus is similar to Fortuner & Maggenti's 1987 D. acutus (Khan, 1965) except the body length was much longer (L=0.65-0.71 mm vs. L=0.39-0.50 mm) and body width was thinner (a=40-49.2 vs. a=22-28). In addition, Ditylenchus myceliophagus was recorded for the first time in Korea. Thus, both species were described in this paper.

While evaluating fungal diversity in fecal and freshwater samples in Korea, three fungal strains, CNUFC-GHD83-1, CNUFC-RD8126, and CNUFC-YR2-1, were isolated from specific habitats including grasshopper and rat feces, and freshwater samples in Korea. On the basis of the morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and 28S rDNA, the isolates CNUFC-GHD83-1, CNUFC-RD8126, and CNUFC-YR2-1 were identified as Albifimbria terrestris, Cephaliophora tropica, and Mariannaea aquaticola, respectively. These species have not been previously described in Korea.

Eight samples, collected from six moss-covered soil and two freshwater samples, were examined to determine ciliate diversity in Korea. Based on the morphology of living and stained specimens, thirteen ciliate species, previously unrecorded in Korea, were identified. These specimens were classified to four classes, seven orders, ten families, and twelve genera. Of these genera, the following six were first records in Korea: Bresslauides, Dexiotricha, Glaucoma, Paragastrostyla, Sathrophilus, and Trithigmostoma. Here, we provide a brief description of the morphology of these 13 taxa along with microphotographs and notes.

Two species of anglerfishes, Lophiodes insidiator(Regan, 1921) and Halieutaea fumosa Alcock 1894 that were unrecorded in Korea, were collected from the adjacent waters of Busan, Korea. These species were described and figured as first record from Korea. New korean names, Yong-Ah-Gui and Min-Bu-Chi were proposed for Lophiodes insidiator and Halieutaea fumosa.

Three species of Criconematidae, Criconema longulum, C. orientale and C. psammophilum are newly reported from Korea. Some morphological data and host plants of Discocriconemella hengsungica, Hemicriconemoides brachyurus, H. mangiferae, H. varionodus, and Xenocriconemella macrodora were reported.

Thirteen decapod crustaceans of Dokdo Island were identified and classified based on samples collected around Dokdo Island from May 1999 to November 2004. Of the 13 species, 7 were unrecorded from Dokdo Island: Axiopsis princeps, Pagurus angustus, Pagurus japonicus, Pagurus nigrivittatus, Pagurus spina, Portunus trituberculatus, and Hemigrapsus penicillatus. Of these 7 species, Pagurus nigrivittatus and Pagurus spina were new to the Korean decapod fauna. However, P. spina was only reported as the type series from the Pacific coast of northern Japan. Its geographic range now extends to the East Sea. To date, 25 decapod crustaceans (1 caridean, 1 thalassinidean, 11 anomurans, and 12 brachyurans) have been reported from Dokdo Island.
