Methods: A questionnaire using the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) measuring drinking refusal self-efficacy and mental health was given to 938 students of two universities in Gyeongsangnam-do. Results: Among the respondents 381 (40.6%) were problem drinkers. The score of alcohol consumption in the AUDIT were 3.38 for the average group and 12.50 for the problem drinking group. There were significant differences between the average group and problem drinking group in age, living place, smoking, parent's drinking, age of the first drink and reasons for first drink. Participants of the average group had significantly higher drinking refusal self-efficacy than the problem drinking group. Regarding mental health, there were differences between the two groups in attempted suicide. The risk factors significantly associated with problem drinking were living place, smoking and reasons for the initial drink. Conclusion: These results provide guidance for developing strategies, such as an educational program, to promote safe alcohol consumption in nursing students.

  • To investigate the perception of the correlation between systemic diseases and oral health among some university students. The questionnaires were conducted on 485 students from 3 universities in Gwangju. As a result of the study, the female was higher than the male and was the highest in the fourth grade. Subjective health status, drinking status, smoking experience, and exercise were not significantly different in recognizing the association between systemic disease and oral health. The group with experience in oral health education recognized 3.18, and the group that practiced educational contents was highly recognized as 3.21. There was a significant difference between the two groups. Multiple regression analysis showed that major factor and grade factor influenced the perception of association between systemic disease and oral health. Therefore, it is necessary for university students to recognize the importance and necessity of periodical oral examinations. It is thought that the incidence of disease should be strengthened and enforced to recognize that there is a correlation with various diseases.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of the results of a nationwide academic evaluation of middle schools and high schools on apartment prices in Ulsan City by using a hedonic pricing model. The results of the middle school and high school achievement test, the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) score for high school, the national united evaluation score, and the number of successful applicants to prestigious universities have a significant effect on the apartment price formation with a positive relationship. In addition, different kinds of academic evaluation score have asymmetric effects on apartment price determination. The results of the high school achievement evaluation are more important than the results of the middle school achievement evaluation in the apartment price determination. Among the achievement evaluation results, the ratio of the students with the higher education level is more important than the ratio of the students with the lower basic education level. Furthermore, the CSAT score for Natural Sciences is more important than the CSAT score for the Humanities course.
