The quality characteristics of concrete using super plasticizer in dornestlc rnarket are evaluat
ed in order to put to practical use of high performance concrete with high mobility. high strength
ard high durability.
For this purpose, rune kmds of super plasticizer are compared and analyzed for the slump, air
content. unit weight, water reducing percent and ratios of compressive strength wth admixture
content.
As a result, the optimum quantity of admixture content were obtained for ordinary and high
strength concrete using super plasticizer.

This study was conducted to characterize on the relationships of rainfall intensity and infiltration rate of rainfall dependent on unit weight change in the gneissic weathered soil by a column test equipment. In this study, volumetric water content and pore water pressure were measured using TDR sensors and tensiometers at regular time intervals. Rainfall conditions including continuous rainfall and repeated rainfall were selected in order to know the effect of antecedent rainfall. In the condition of rainfall intensity 20mm/h and the unit weights of soil as $1.35g/cm^3$, $1.55g/cm^3$ and $1.61g/cm^3$, average rainfall infiltration rate was $2.814{\times}10^{-3}cm/sec$, $1.969{\times}10^{-3}cm/sec$ and $1.252{\times}10^{-3}cm/sec$ respectively. The higher rainfall intensity and lower unit weight of soil, the faster average infiltration rate. Overflow in the column was happened except rainfall condition of rainfall intensity 20mm and soil unit weight $1.35g/cm^3$. Increasing the soil unit weight, overflowed water was increased and occurrence time was faster.

Superabsorbent Polymers (SAPs) are hydrophilic synthetic polymers which could absorb water by hundreds of their own weight. They are used for multiple purpose including hygienic goods, soil conditioners, and hospital supplies. It is necessary to investigate the standard of their use including the amendment rate for soil application in agricultural fields. It is also important to understand their effects on the soil water content and engineering characteristics. The objective of this study is to find the water absorbing capacity and reusability of SAPs, and the characteristics of water release and effect of them on soil water content and engineering characteristics. In the result, SAPs per unit weight (1 g) used for this research could absorb about 200 g of water in max. The water absorbing capacity decreased after SAPs were used repeatedly. Released water of SAPs could provide the soils with about 9 % of the soil water content. Soil water content increased with decreasing distance from the SAPs. The distance of release was spreaded out with increasing water absorbed of SAPs. Finally, when a drainage and the capacity of soil water content were considered, it is recommended to amend the SAPs with soil by less than 0.25 %.
In this study was conducted to measure the water content and dry unit weight of the ground using TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) in order to supplement the problems of the conventional compaction management method. The Flat TDR system is a device that does not cause ground disturbance, and in order to verify the measured values, the dry density and water content were measured for samples of the ground subject at 7 sites other than Jumunjin Standard Temple. The water content section was divided into 6 sections of 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18%, and the experimental results were confirmed according to the unified classification method. As a result of the indoor experiment, the water content showed an error of about 0.7% for the SP sample and about 1.3% for the SM sample. In addition, the dry unit weight confirmed an error of about 7% for the SP sample and about 5% for the SM sample. It was confirmed that stable values were derived in sandy or silty sandy ground except for clay or gravel. Through the experimental results, it was confirmed that the measured values of the flat TDR system derive similar values to the existing traditional compaction management method, and it was determined that the flat TDR equipment was suitable for construction sites that require quick constructability and economic feasibility.

The purpose of this experimental research is to suggest a base data to utilize the fine sand of Nakdong-River actively as an alternative aggregate for concrete. For this purpose, after the typical fine sand samples were collected at the mid stream and down stream of main stream of Nakdong-River, the physical properties of them and the mix characteristics of concrete using those were estimated. As a result, it was observed from the test result that mix characteristics between concrete using fine sand and concrete using well-graded reference sand made little differences since unit water content and unit cement content of concrete using fine sand increased only a little than those of concrete using reference sand for specified compressive strength.

The electrokinetic remediation tests for natural soil contaminated by lead are performed on unsaturated conditions, in which the degree of saturation is controlled through the changes in water content and the constant unit weight. At the degree of saturation of 70% the small acid range and electrical potential is developed. The changes in the water content are little above the saturation of 90%. But it is increased by 1.7 times at the degree of saturation of 70%. Finally, the efficiency of extraction is improved at 70% than 100%.

In this study, filling performance of concrete is investigated experimentally for the developmenmt of the concrete to be used in concrete filled steel tubular columns with inner diaphrams. Water-cement ratio with 3 levels, unit water contents with 5 levels, unit coarse aggregate contents with 5 levels, and slump flow with 3 levels are selected for test variables. For the estimation of the filling properties of the concrete, slump flow, V-type funnel time, U-type box height are measured and compared. A device which simulates the steel tubular column is designed and three kinds of concrete are tested with it. As the results, the filling performance is decreased with increasing coarse aggregate content. And, within the scope of this study, concretes with coarse aggregate content less than 880 kg/$\textrm{m}^3$ show good filling performance. To prevent excessive settlement of the concrete pumped into the steel tubular column, slump flow should be controlled within the limited range.

In this paper, the properties of high-strength concrete are described with respect to materials and mix conditions(water-cement ratio, chemical admixture, replacement of fly ash). As primary purposes of this study, the optimum mix design method of high-strength concrete to decrease unit cement contents is investigated, and the properties of fresh and hardened concretes are tested in terms of slump, air content and compressive strength. As results of this study, workability and strength development of the high-strength concrete depend on the water-cement ratio, replacement ratio of fly ash and dosage of the chemical admixture. The conditions which are proposed optimum mix design of the high-strength concrete show W/C 37%, S/A 42~45% and unit cement content 470~480kg/$\textrm{m}^3$. Based on the results, the applicability of high-strength concrete in site is clearly proved.

Relationship between axial strain and volumetric strain of Light-Weighted Foam Soil (LWFS) are investigated. LWFS is composed of the dredged soil from offshore, cement and foam to reduce the unit weight and also increase compressive strength. For this purpose. the triaxial compression tests are carried out on the prepared specimens of LWFS with various conditions such as initial water contents, cement contents, and curing stresses, The test results of LWFS Indicated that the axial strain - volumetric strain relationship is almost linearity with increase cement contents and the unit weight but the relationship is non-linearity with decrease cement contents and the unit weight. In this study, it is found that assuming no change of cross section area of LWFS, axial strain occurring the poisson's ratio of zero, that the axial strain same to volumetric strain, steeply increases with decrease the unit weight, initial water content, and cement contents.
Using several accessible published data sets, we analyzed the temporal change of 137Cs radioactivity (per unit mass of sample) in marine sediments and investigated the effect of the water content of sediment on the 137Cs radioactivity, to understand the behavior of 137Cs present in marine environments. The 137Cs radioactivity in sediments decreased more slowly in the Baltic Sea (near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant) than in the ocean near the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant (FDNPP). The 137Cs radioactivity in the sediment near the FDNPP tended to increase as the water content increased, and the water content decreased at certain sampling sites near the FDNPP for several years. Additionally, the decrease in the water content contributed to 51.2% of the average 137Cs radioactivity decrease rate for the same period. Thus, it may be necessary to monitor both the 137Cs radioactivity and the water content for marine sediments to track the 137Cs that was discharged from the sites of Chernobyl and Fukushima nuclear power plants where severe accidents occurred.
