Experimental work in underwater acoustic communications using passive phase conjugation has shown that the demodulation error depends on the relative drift rate between the source and receiver [Rouseff et al., IEEE J. Oceanic Eng. 26, 821-831 (2001)]. The observed effect involves the mismatch between the initial impulse response and the subsequent response after the source or receiver has changed locations. In the present work, the effect of drifting source is analyzed by numerical simulations and compared to the experimental results. The communications bit error rate is qualified as a function of drift rate, drifting direction, and source-receiver range.

Presently many constructions establish in underwater, but approaching to underwater constructions are difficult, for comparing with ground, underwater environment is different in media. Usually measurement methods for underwater constructions are using tapes, using depth gauges, using acoustic positioning systems. But, tapes are hard to measure the correct distance, for applying a right tension is not easy in underwater. Depth gauges have a weakness in settling, for it takes long time to do it. Acoustic positioning systems don't work well in confined spaces and cost a lot. Hence, the purpose of this study is, at first, to understand rays path in multimedia like water, glass and air. The second thing is to perform a camera calibration at the field to compare with the interior orientation parameter. And the third thing is to find out whether photogrammetry is applied for underwater object in using cube for accuracy examination. The last thing is to perform underwater photogrammetry about underwater object, which is pier model and riverbed. We came to the conclusion through this experiment that the applying underwater photogrammerty for underwater constructions and underwater ground is possible.

The good sea-keeping capability of the SWATH(Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) ship has been attractive for research or surveillance vessels. Especially, for the naval ships accomplishing the underwater acoustic missions, it is necessary to access and minimize the underwater radiated noise level generated by the ships. Therefore, acoustic signature management and control are very important topics for these vessels. Underwater radiation pattern in the low frequency range is dominated by the tonals from the vibration of onboard machinery. In this work, the radiated noise level generated by the propulsion machine in the submerged hull is predicted using the transfer function technique and the hull transfer function for the submerged hull is determined by analyzing the longitudinal/circumferential stiffened infinitely long cylindrical shell and considering the empirical database of the previous vessels. It is confirmed that the transfer function technique can give useful information for identifying the noise source and estimating its contribution to the total radiatied noise level.
Recently, research on Media Access Control (MAC) techniques for underwater acoustic communication has been conducted actively. For successful acoustic communication in underwater conditions, development of environmentally adaptive MAC techniques, which is taking narrow bandwidth, distance, depth, noise level, salinity, multipath and etc into account, is an especially important work. In this paper, knowledge based system is introduced not only to obtain adaptive and optimal communication parameters but also increase network efficiency and availability by requesting change of MAC techniques based on decisions from knowledge-based system Smart Decision Block (SDB). Computer simulations were also conducted to verify the performance of the proposed system in underwater conditions.
In this work results from an underwater experiment on flow-induced noise in the interior of a towed body generated from a surrounding turbulent boundary layer are presented. The measurements were performed with a towed body under open sea conditions at towing depths below 100 m and towing speeds ranging from 2.4 m/s to 6.2 m/s (4 kn to 12 kn). Focus is given in the experiments to the relation between (outer) wall pressure fluctuations and the (inner) hydroacoustic near-field on the reverse side of a flat plate. The plate configuration consists of a sandwich structure with an (thick) outer polyurethane layer supported by an inner thin layer from fibre-reinforced plastics. Parameters of the turbulent boundary layer are estimated in order to analyse scaling relations of wall-pressure fluctuations, interior hydroacoustic noise, and the reduction of pressure fluctuations through the plate.

Underwater images are very much different from images taken on land, due to the presence of a higher disturbance ratio caused by the presence of water medium between the camera and the target object. These distortions and noises result in unclear details and reduced quality of the output image. An underwater image restoration method is proposed in this paper, which uses blurriness information, background light neutralization information, and red-light intensity to estimate depth. The transmission map is then estimated using the derived depth map, by considering separate attenuation coefficients for direct and backscattered signals. The estimated transmission map and estimated background light are then used to recover the scene radiance. Qualitative and quantitative analysis have been used to compare the performance of the proposed method against other state-of-the-art restoration methods. It has been shown that the proposed method can yield good quality restored underwater images. The proposed method has also been evaluated using different qualitative metrics, and results have shown that method is highly capable of restoring underwater images with different conditions. The results are significant and show the applicability of the proposed method for underwater image restoration work.
Korean peninsula has the most mountainous areas such as mountains and hilly country, and it is surrounded by the sea on all sides but one. In this respect, a large scaled construction works have frequently been conducted. However, it is not easy to porform a large scale blasting work without giving any harm to houses or facilities nationwide. Therefore, blasting work becomes more closely related to maintenance thing due to the development of the downtown or a large structure for key facilities. Many researches on blast in the open space and tunnel blasting have been conducted. On the contrary, research on underwater blasting operations is comparatively scanty even though much more necessity of marine development is required. In this respect, this study aims to investigate the characteristics of underwater blasting operations and to make a comparative study with blast in the open space. As a result of examining into the characteristics during underwater blasting operations, the around oscillation in case of underwater blasting operations shows significantly low compared to that in case of blast in the open space, and this means that much more cautious altitude must be taken in designing underwater blasting operations compared to the design of blast In the open space. As a result of analysis on the difference between a square root and a cube root In the equation of estimating oscillations in the actual site, it is shown that it is shown to apply a square root for the estimation of oscillation at 60 meters in case of underwater blasting operations and at 22 meters case of general blast in the open space.

Purpose: In order to accurately reach an underwater projectile to a target point, reliable INS and accurate arrangement of INS between master and slave INS is paramount. Unlike terrestrial and aerial environments, underwater projectile will operates in a restricted environment where location information cannot be received or sent through satellites. In this report, we review the factors affecting the transfer alignment of master and slave INS, as well as how to improve the positional error between INS through improved transfer alignment algorithms. Methods: In this work, we propose an improvement algorithm and verify it through simulation and driving test. The simulation confirmed the difference in the transfer alignment azimuth by fitting the MINS and SINS indoors, displacement in posture, and the process of transfer alignment between MINS and SINS through a driving test to confirm algorithm can improve the arrangement. Results: According to this study, reason for the error in the transfer alignment between MINS/SINS is the factors of the system where movements such as roll, pitch, yaw are not inter locked in real time due to the delay in transmit/receive system. And confirm that the improved algorithm has a desirable effect on accuracy. Conclusion: Through this work, it is possible to identify ways to improve the accuracy of underwater projectiles to reach their target points under various underwater environments and launch condition.
There are two major types of underwater blasting at Korea, bridges and harbor construction work. Pier blasting for lay the foundation bridges construction is used dry excavation working (drilling and charging) after pump out water and then fire pump in water that is same as bench blasting. In contrast, underwater blasting for harbor construction and increase of harbor load depth is used to barge with digging equipment that is in oder to drilling on the surface and blasting work(charge, hook-up) under water. Thus, there are need to special concern such as charge method and hook-up method different from tunnel blasting work and bench blasting work. If do not use special concern breaks out dead pressure and mis fire because of there are so many difficult condition such as water pressure, obstruct field of vision. In this study underwater blasting at Busan Harbor Construction have consider with special concern that is plastic pipe charge method used to MegaMITE I and specialized buoy hook- up method make far initial system detonate on the surface used to TLD. The results is designed blast pattern charge per delay effect an inspection of verify between predict velocity and measure velocity. minimized break out mis fire consideration charge method, hook up method. According to result best underwater blasting design is 105mm drilling dia, MeGAMITE II, HiNLL Plus(non electric detonator).

For underwater vehicles, the use of sensors such as cameras and laser scanners is limited by the difference in environment compared to robots designed to work on dry land. In underwater environments, if use is made of sound signals, valuable information can be obtained. The most important application is the localization of underwater sound sources. The estimated location of a sound source can be used to control underwater robots or submarines. Thus, the purpose of this research is to estimate the source's direction and location in a noisy underwater environment. The direction of the sound source is obtained using two hydrophones. Furthermore, if we assume that the robot or sound source is moving, the location of the sound source is estimated using more than two estimated directions. The feasibility of the developed algorithm is examined by experiments in a water tank and in the ocean.
