심해저용 원격 착탈 시스템 제어를 위한 수중음향신호 인식 알고리즘의 개발 (A Development of Underwater Sound Signal Recognition Algorithm for Acoustic Releaser in the Seafloor)

  • In order to exploit underwater resources successfully, the first step would be a marine environmental research and exploration in the seafloor. Generally one sets up a long-term underwater experimental unit in the seafloor and retrieves the unit later after a certain period time. Essential to these applications is the reliable teleoperation and telemetering of the unit. In this paper we presents a robust underwater sound recognition algorithm by which we can identify the sound signal without the influence of disturbances due to underwater environmental changes. The proposed method provides a means suitable for the acoustic releaser which requires low power dissipation and long-time underwater operation. We demonstrate its ability of securing stability and fast sound recognition through simulation methods.

Human Visual System based Automatic Underwater Image Enhancement in NSCT domain

  • Underwater image enhancement has received considerable attention in last decades, due to the nature of poor visibility and low contrast of underwater images. In this paper, we propose a new automatic underwater image enhancement algorithm, which combines nonsubsampled contourlet transform (NSCT) domain enhancement techniques with the mechanism of the human visual system (HVS). We apply the multiscale retinex algorithm based on the HVS into NSCT domain in order to eliminate the non-uniform illumination, and adopt the threshold denoising technique to suppress underwater noise. Our proposed algorithm incorporates the luminance masking and contrast masking characteristics of the HVS into NSCT domain to yield the new HVS-based NSCT. Moreover, we define two nonlinear mapping functions. The first one is used to manipulate the HVS-based NSCT contrast coefficients to enhance the edges. The second one is a gain function which modifies the lowpass subband coefficients to adjust the global dynamic range. As a result, our algorithm can achieve contrast enhancement, image denoising and edge sharpening automatically and simultaneously. Experimental results illustrate that our proposed algorithm has better enhancement performance than state-of-the-art algorithms both in subjective evaluation and quantitative assessment. In addition, our algorithm can automatically achieve underwater image enhancement without any parameter tuning.

  • Imaging sonars such as side-scanning sonar or forward-looking sonar are becoming fundamental sensors in the underwater robotics field. However, using sonar images for underwater perception presents many challenges. Sonar images are usually low resolution with inherent speckled noise. To overcome the limited sensor information for underwater perception, we investigated preprocessing methods for sonar images and feature detection methods for a nonlinear scale space. In this paper, we focus on a comparative analysis of (1) preprocessing for sonar images and (2) the feature detection performance in relation to the scale space composition.

수중코팅제와 콘크리트 모재 간의 인장 부착 특성 (Tensile Bond Characteristics between Underwater Coating Materials and Concrete Substrate)

  • 본 연구에서는 해양 항만 콘크리트 구조물의 보수작업을 위한 수중코팅제의 부착 특성을 조사하기 위하여 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 고려된 실험변수는 코팅제의 종류, 코팅대상 모재의 표면 거칠기, 도포 작업환경(육상 혹은 수중)으로 부착 강도는 Pull-off 방식으로 측정하였다. 코팅제의 부착 강도는 각 수중코팅제의 도포 작업 완료 24시간 후에 ASTM C1583 규정에 따라 측정하였다. 또한, 콘크리트 모재와 코팅제 간의 부착파괴 거동(코팅제, 계면, 콘크리트 모재)을 육안으로 관찰하였으며 측정된 부착 강도 수치에 근거하여 각 실험요인의 비교분석을 수행하였다. 실험결과, 수중에서 도포한 코팅제의 부착 강도가 육상의 경우에 비해 감소하는 경향을 보였으며 수중환경에서는 부착 강도에 미치는 모재 표면 거칠기의 영향이 육상의 경우에 비하여 미비하였다. 마지막으로 수중코팅제의 선정, 사용 시에 유의할 점에 대하여 설명하였다.

  • 최근 수중 환경 모니터링 시스템에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 수중음파센서네트워크에 관련된 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 수중음파센서네트워크는 수중환경 모니터링, 수중자원탐사, 해양 데이터 수집, 군사 목적 등 다양한 분야에 활용되고 있다. 이러한 다양한 분야에서 활용 가능한 수중음파센서네트워크의 활성화를 위해서는 PHY-MAC 프로토콜의 정의가 필수적이다. 하지만, 수중음파센서네트워크는 제한된 대역폭, 다중경로 및 페이딩현상, 지상 무선통신에 비해서 낮은 음파 속도로 인한 전송 지연시간 등 수중환경의 특수성에 고려해서 구현을 해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 수중환경과 관련된 제약사항을 고려하여 적응적인 PHY 프로토콜의 주파수, 네트워크 토폴로지, MAC 프로토콜, PHY-MAC 인터페이스, 데이터 프레임 포맷을 정의하고, 구현한 시스템의 구성에 대해서 설명하며, 수중환경에서의 실제 실험을 통한 데이터를 기반으로 성능 평가를 하였다.

  • In this paper, we introduce the methodology that utilizes deep learning-based front-end to enhance underwater feature matching. Both optical camera and sonar are widely applicable sensors in underwater research, however, each sensor has its own weaknesses, such as light condition and turbidity for the optic camera, and noise for sonar. To overcome the problems, we proposed the opti-acoustic transformation method. Since feature detection in sonar image is challenging, we converted the sonar image to an optic style image. Maintaining the main contents in the sonar image, CNN-based style transfer method changed the style of the image that facilitates feature detection. Finally, we verified our result using cosine similarity comparison and feature matching against the original optic image.

  • This paper presents vision-based techniques for underwater landmark detection, map-based localization, and SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) in structured underwater environments. A variety of underwater tasks require an underwater robot to be able to successfully perform autonomous navigation, but the available sensors for accurate localization are limited. A vision sensor among the available sensors is very useful for performing short range tasks, in spite of harsh underwater conditions including low visibility, noise, and large areas of featureless topography. To overcome these problems and to a utilize vision sensor for underwater localization, we propose a novel vision-based object detection technique to be applied to MCL (Monte Carlo Localization) and EKF (Extended Kalman Filter)-based SLAM algorithms. In the image processing step, a weighted correlation coefficient-based template matching and color-based image segmentation method are proposed to improve the conventional approach. In the localization step, in order to apply the landmark detection results to MCL and EKF-SLAM, dead-reckoning information and landmark detection results are used for prediction and update phases, respectively. The performance of the proposed technique is evaluated by experiments with an underwater robot platform in an indoor water tank and the results are discussed.

  • 본 논문은 분산 시스템에서의 표준합성환경 기반 수중 교전 시뮬레이션을 위한 방법론이다. 수중 교전 시뮬레이션의 경우 염분과 수온 등의 수중 환경 데이터를 시뮬레이션에 반영하는 것이 중요하다. 분산 시뮬레이션 시스템에서 이러한 환경 데이터의 재사용성과 상호운용성 향상을 위해 합성 환경 표현 및 교환 표준(Synthetic Environmental Data Representation and Interchange Specification, SEDRIS(ISO standard for environmental data))이 개발되었고, 본 논문에서는 SEDRIS를 활용하여 수중 합성환경을 구축한다. 본 논문을 통해 SEDRIS가 합성환경 데이터의 국제 표준이지만 그 방대함과 복잡함으로 인하여 사용이 저해된 문제점을 대기/해양 환경에 대해 효율적인 SEDRIS 기술 활용 방법을 제시하여 해결한다. 본 논문의 최종 목적은 대기/해양 환경 표현을 위한 다차원 격자 기반의 SEDRIS 구조를 구축하고, High Level Architecture (HLA)/Run-Time Infrastructure (RTI) 기반의 분산 시스템에서 대기/해양 합성전장환경 구축에 SEDRIS 적용 방법을 제시한다.
