추만(秋巒) 정지운(鄭之雲) 저술(著述) 『천명도설(天命圖說)』의 사상사적(思想史的) 위상(位相) (The Historical Status of "Cheonmyeong-Doseol" by Jeong Ji-wun)

  • 추만(秋巒) 정지운(鄭之雲)(1509-1561)은 퇴계 이황과 고봉 기대승의 사칠논변(四七論辨)의 단초가 된 "천명도설(天命圖說)"를 그린 당사자로 유명하다. 그러나 이런 사실을 제외하고, 아직까지 추만 정지운이라고 하는 인물에 대해서 학계는 물론 일반대중들도 깊이 있는 인식을 갖고 있지 못한 것이 현실이다. 정지운에 대한 선행연구도 "천명도설(天命圖說)"의 내용 분석을 위주로 하는 미시적 방식을 취하는 데 머물러 있다. 정지운의 삶과 학문이 그 가치를 발휘하기 위해서는 역사적인 맥락에서의 검토가 반드시 필요하다. 정지운은 "천명도설(天命圖說)"를 지어 천인합일(天人合一)의 논리적 정당성을 이론적으로 밝혀 기묘사림(己卯士林)을 신원하고, 그들의 유지를 정연하게 체계화함으로써 조선 성리학을 본격적으로 성숙시키는 징검다리 역할을 하였다. 조선 중기 이후 사림파의 성리학설이 정국을 주도하는 정치사상으로 자리 잡는다는 점을 볼 때 정지운의 "천명도설(天命圖說)"가 가지고 있는 역사적 의의는 아무리 강조되어도 지나치지 않다고 할 수 있다. 정지운의 "천명도설(天命圖說)"를 두고 이황과 기대승 간에 벌어진 논변은 조선 성리학을 한 단계 높은 수준으로 끌어 올리는 좋은 계기가 되었다. 요컨대 정지운의 "천명도설(天命圖說)"는 "소학(小學)"과 "근사록(近思錄)"의 이해 수준에 머물러 있던 당시 상황에서 이기심성론(理氣心性論)을 본격화함으로써 조선 전기 성리학의 수준을 한 단계 끌어올리는 견인차 역할을 하였다. 그리고 이황과 기대승은 정지운의 "천명도설(天命圖說)"를 중심으로 논변함으로써 조선 성리학을 이론적으로 심화시키는 출발점에 서게 되었다. 이때 정착된 사림파의 심학화(心學化) 경향은 명종과 선조대를 거치면서, 완전히 조선 정치사상사를 주도하는 정치이념으로 자리 잡았다. 정지운의 "천명도설(天命圖說)"는 그러한 정치사상사의 흐름을 견인한 시발점이었다는 점에서, 우리는 정지운의 "천명도설(天命圖說)"가 지니고 있는 중요한 역사적 의의를 확인하게 된다.

셰익스피어의 비극작품에 나타난 복식역할의 분석 (The Analysis of Costume Role in Shakespearean Tragedy)

  • This study concerns the role of costume in Shakespearean tragedy from the viewpoint of the role theory. The term "role" has been used to represent the behavior expected of the occupant of a given position or status. A specific role can not be successfully performed without the aid of the Costumes. Costumes are adopted in relation with a specific role. The role of social status and position reflects sex, age, occupation, class, economic position of the characters. In his works, the crown and the mace represented not only the throne but also a previllege and supreme position. The sitution role of costume could be widely used for visualizing the psychological situation and external environments of the characters on the stage. The disguise role hided one's status, thereby makes possible acting others position. And the disguise role can bring about the change of status, age, sex, occupation, and atmosphere. The costume could be used as a voucher of love. The costume performed the role of the physical and psychic protection, and provided its wearer with consolation and peaceful mind. The costume reflected the custom of a society through its wearing condition and wearing configuration. The results obtained from this study can provide useful cues for understanding the role action in the social structure. This kind of understanding reveals the costume phenomena in real life, allows one to perform roles properly and efficiently, and opens our insight on the overall aspects of the costume culture.

Psychometrics of Perspective Taking in Writing: CombiningManualCoding and Computational Approaches

  • Perspective taking, one's knowledge of their own mental and emotional states and inferences about others' mental and emotional states, is an important higher order cognitive skill required in successful writing. However, there has not been much research on the identification and examiantion of the psychometrics of perspective taking. To fill in this gap, I reviewed the psychological and cognitive frameworks of perspective taking including theory of mind, audience awareness, development of epistemological understanding, and argumentation schema. I also reviewed various methods of examining the psychometric properties of perspective taking in written composition, including both manual and computational approaches. The review of literature yielded suggestions on the development of manual coding scheme for perspective taking as well as the selection of indexes to draw from natural language processing tools. Challenges and affordances of combining the manual and computational approach are discussed along with future research directions to advance the field of psycholinguistics.

한의학의 정의에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Definition of Korean Medicine)

  • In order to cope with various issues about access to public health system of Korean medicine and reformation of college curriculum and argument of pseudoscience on Korean medicine etc., a new definition of Korean medicine was devised. Two ways of approach were tried through analysis of precedent cases of definition on traditional medicine firstly and analysis on concept and logic of Korean medicine secondly. As a result, Korean medicine can be defined as a science of theories and application techniques for maintaining health and diagnosing, treating and preventing conditions、causes、prognosis of diseases or damages based on the correlative and complicated understanding about the structure and function of mind and body out of human lives under the environment and society. This definition can be used as a basis to derive legal rights or scope in area of research and education policies and social institutions of the Korean medicine and to confront scientification criticism hereafter.

외양과 실재 간의 구분에 대한 아동의 이해 (Children's Understanding of the Appearance-Reality Distinction)

  • The purpose of the present study was to explore the development of knowledge about the appearance-reality distinction and its relation to children's developing theory of mind. The subjects were 90 children, 15 boys and 15 girls each at the ages of 3, 4, and 5. The performance of the appearance-reality distinction was compared on illusory object, color, pretend event, and picture tasks. The data were collected by individual testing and analyzed by two-way ANOVA with repeated measures. The results showed that there were significant differences between 3-and 4-year-olds in the appearance-reality distinction, while there was no significant difference according to gender or type of tasks. It was also found that children at the age of 3 and 4, committed phenomenism errors more often than intellectual realism errors, while 5 year olds did not show particular differences.

은유표현의 명제성과 은유성 (Propositionality and Metaphoricity of Metaphor)

  • The purpose of this paper is twofold. On the one hand it takes issue with Engstrom's claim that conceptual metaphors are propositional; on the other, it aims to demonstrate that the mathematical term 'mapping' is inappropriate for the analysis of metaphors. To my mind, the propositional analysis of metaphors, a wrong analysis for that matter, originates in the notion 'mapping' I argue that partial 'mapping' between propositional meanings and metaphorical meanings is either mental or psychological, with no concomitant 'truth' value. When concept metaphors represent propositionality, they lose metaphoricity; when they obtain metaphoricity, they are free of propositionality. The mathematical terms 'mapping' and 'proposition,' it is stressed, should be avoided in the analysis of concept metaphors like 'A is B' because they are confusing when applied to linguistic expression. 1 suggest that the term 'mapping' be replaced by phrases such as 'interaction between two domains,' projection from source-domain to target domain,' or 'understanding the properties of two domains between A and B,' etc. This would amount to proposing a pragmatic or cognitive theory of metaphor.

  • 서양철학의 근간을 이루는 데카르트의 이성주의적 인간이해의 반성으로부터 등장한 구성주의는 지능을 포함한 인간이해의 새로운 대안이 될 수 있을 것으로 생각한다. 구성주의는 진화생물학, 진화심리학, 뇌과학, 시스템이론, 복잡계 이론의 성과뿐만 아니라 나아가 인문사회학의 경향과도 설명을 공유할 수 있는 많은 부분이 있다. 또한 인공지능 분야에서도 구성주의적 방법이라고 할 수 있는 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이 글에서는 구성주의적 관점에서 인공지능에서 다루는 지능에 대한 이해의 지평을 넓히고 이를 기반으로 한 방법론에 대한 검토와 그러한 경향에 있는 일부 인공지능 기술을 살펴보고자 한다. 이러한 논의를 통하여 여러 가지 관점의 마음에 대한 이론과 기술을 상호보완적으로 이해하고 다소 등한히 되고 있는 인공지능의 보편지능(general intelligence)의 토대로 삼고자 한다.

  • Traditional costumes have evolved while reflecting the social, cultural and psychological values of the era. Costumes gain meaning by being worn that also allows their various symbolic meanings to be derived. Costumes worn in festivals by specific societies and organizations have especially apparent symbolism pertaining to their purpose. Most countries have traditional festivals that embody the country's distinct culture, history and traditions. These festivals are acts of consciousness expressing a special meaning of the community. Costumes represent a glimpse of life and culture during a festival period; in addition, the costume's style, color elements and decorations are expressions of community values and a distinct symbolic mechanism. Totemism (a significant element of these festivals) has been passed down for many generations. The current costumes for Totemism are distinct (compared to normal festival costumes) and embody a more symbolic meaning. This study deduces the exaggerated style, the concealment and disguise of the human body, and the pursuit of pleasure expressed in the Totemism costumes of regional European festivals. The symbolization theories of C. G. Jung and an analysis of Totemism costumes allow an understanding of their existential significance, their role as the medium between consciousness and unconsciousness, their meaning of symbolic transcendental unity, and their meaning of giving consciousness to the mind.

단전호흡을 하는 중년여성의 기운 기르기 과정 (Process of Cultivating Energy in Middle Aged Women Practicing Dan Jeon Breathing)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the process of cultivating energy in middle-aged women doing Dan Jeon Breathing and to develop a grounded theory of Dan Jeon Breathing. Method: Data was collected by means of an in-depth interview using tape- recordings from 15 participants who practice Dan Jeon Breathing. The data was analyzed using the grounded theory method proposed by Strauss and Corbin(1998). Results: The core category was identified as "cultivating energy of the mind and the body together". The process of this could be further divided into 4 stages: the stages are cessation of an 'energetic life', 'depending on Dan Jeon Breathing', 'going through a difficult practice process' and 'getting used to Dan Jeon Breathing'. The participants began Dan Jeon Breathing because they were unable to retain their energetic lifestyle. They were dependent on Dan Jeon Breathing for recovery of health. Also, they were going through a difficult process. Finally, they entirely approved of Dan Jeon Breathing as a method of health promotion. Conclusion: This study provided the understanding needed for the training process of Dan Jeon Breathing. Therefore, women can pursue Dan Jeon Breathing for their health.

명대(明代) 유의(儒醫) 이천(李梴)의 도교(道敎)이해 (A research of Ruyi(儒醫), Li-Chan(李梴)'s viewpoint on Taoism)

  • Objective : The medicine originated from Taoist tradition which identifies itself with medicine, making a harmonic combination between taoist theory of life fostering(養生論) and confucianism was a everlasting task for Ru-Yi, Li-chan who attach great importance to Confucian-medicine. Differing from the ideological background of precedent medical theorists, made his own confucianism the main theory of medicine. I think we need a rational reflection over these issues and am trying to focus on it. I hereby analyse the Ru-Yi, Li-chan's viewpoint on Taoism since after Ming(明)-dynasty during which his theoretical ideology has bloomed in chinese medicine. Method : I analyze the sentences in Li-Chan's Yisuerumen(Medical beginner's book, 醫學入門) From the perspective of Confucianism and Taoism. Result & Conclusion : Li-Chan understood Taoism from the viewpoint of Confucian medicine. Thus, He accepted the life-fostering of Taoism from the point of Confucian-moral cultivation. He emphasized the role of the Xin(mind, 心) and he was rejected Taoist mysticism. He interpreted Medical classics-Huangdineijing(黃帝內經) from the perspective of the Confucian classics and understanding of each other was similar position. Because he was a Confucian scholar and medical scientists.
