Objectives : This study investigated the influences of emotional intelligence, self-leadership, and job embeddedness on the work performance of clinical nurses. Methods : A survey was conducted with 258 hospital nurses. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 23.0. Results : The mean scores were $4.64{\pm}0.6$ for emotional intelligence, $3.41{\pm}0.42$ for self-leadership, $3.11{\pm}0.52$ for job embeddedness, and $3.49{\pm}0.51$ for nursing work performance respectively. Nursing work performance was positively correlated with emotional intelligence, self-leadership, and job embeddedness. Multiple regression analysis showed that the factors affecting nursing work performance were self-expectation, fit, understanding of self-emotion, links, self-compensation, and age. Conclusions : The results indicate that self-expectation, fit, and understanding of self-emotion are very important factors in nursing work performance. Therefore, nurse managers should enhance nurses self-expectation, fit, and understanding of self-emotion by developing various emotional sensitivity and support programs.

Background: The study analyzes penalties imposed on organizations for breaching safety and health regulations. The research questions are as follows: what are the commonly breached safety and health regulations? How proportional are penalties imposed on organizations for breaching health and safety regulations in the United Kingdom? Methods: The study employed sequential explanatory mixed research strategies for better understanding of health and safety penalties imposed on organizations. Actual health and safety convictions and penalties data for 10 years (2006 to 2016) were obtained through the United Kingdom Health and Safety Executive (HSE) public register for convictions. Overall, 2,217 health and safety cases were analyzed amounting to total fines of £37,179,916, in addition to other wide-ranging penalties. For thorough understanding, eight interviews were conducted with industry practitioners, lawyers, and HSE officials as part of the study qualitative data. Results: Findings show that the Health and Safety at Work (HSW) Act accounted for 46% of all HSE prosecution cases in the last decade. This is nearly half of the total safety and health at work prosecutions. Moreover, there is widespread desire for organizations to comply with the HSW Act, but route fines are seen as burdensome and inimical to business growth. Conclusion: A key deduction from the study reveal significant disproportionality concerning penalties imposed on organizations for breaching safety and health regulations. On aggregate, small companies tend to pay more for health and safety offenses in a ratio of 1:2 compared to large companies. The study also reveals that the HSW Act accounted for nearly half of the total safety and health at work prosecutions in the last decade.
Purpose: This study was done to examine the understanding of becoming a parent held by women college students, and to examine correlations between motivation to become a parent and perception of parents' role. Method: The participants in the study were 220 women college students of K Women's College in Incheon. Data were collected from July to November, 2004 and the method was self-report questionnaires which were constructed to include understanding of parenthood, motivation to become a parent, perception of parents' role. Result: 1) In this study, 78.2% of women collage students responded they have marriage plans and 76.6% of the students responded they will have children. 2) Scores for motivation to become a parent and perception of parents' role by female college students were 44.5 and point 56.9 respectively. 3) Examination of the correlation of motivation to become a parent and perception of parents' role showed that there was a medium level of correlation and it was statistically significant. Conclusion: These result indicate that interventions towards improvement in understanding of motivation to become a parent should be provided for adolescents and early adult.
The purpose of this study was to measure the causal relationships among fish consumption behavior, attitude towards fish eating, health involvement, perceived convenience, and age. A total of 235 questionnaires were completed. A structural equation model was used to measure the causal effects of the constructs. The results of the study demonstrated that the structural analysis results were an excellent model fit for the data. The influence of age on attitude towards fish eating, health involvement, and perceived convenience was statistically significant. As expected, attitude towards fish eating, health involvement, and perceived convenience had significant effects on fish consumption behavior. Moreover, age had a significant indirect effect on fish consumption behavior through health involvement. Age also had a significant indirect effect on fish consumption behavior through perceived convenience. By developing and testing conceptual models that integrate the relationships among age, psychological variables, and fish consumption behavior, this study may offer a deeper understanding of the complex relationships among the variables. A greater understanding of these complex relationships can improve the managerial diagnoses of problems and the opportunities for different marketing strategies, including product development and marketing communications.
This study was conducted to develop a nutritional education program based on the health belief model to improve nutritional status among Vietnamese female marriage immigrants in Korea. The education program was developed through literature review, focus group interviews, expert consultation, and pilot tests. Based on theoretical requirements and needs of beneficiaries, the education program was consisted of 16 sessions with nine topics: 'how to evaluate own dietary habits and nutritional status', 'health problems according to dietary habits and nutritional status', 'understanding six food groups', 'healthy eating plan', 'understanding food cultures of Korea and Vietnam', 'traditional and seasonal Korean foods', 'how to cook Korean food', 'nutrition management of family members', and 'practicing of healthy dietary life'. Program contents in each session consisted of activities that could induce outcome and value expectations, self-efficacy, perceived benefits, and barriers and cues to actions regarding dietary behavior. This nutritional education program based on the health belief model would be helpful to implement healthy diet behaviors in Vietnamese marriage immigrants and their families. Extension of these nutritional education programs to health centers and multicultural family support centers would improve the current poor nutrition status of Vietnamese marriage immigrant women. Further studies are needed to validate our program.
Purpose: This study aims to systematically clarify and enhance the understanding of osteoporosis prevention interventions based on Health Belief Model (HBM). The analysis includes HBM constructs, intervention characteristics, and outcomes from prior studies. Methods: We extensively searched eight electronic databases to identify peer-reviewed studies that implemented HBM-based interventions for osteoporosis prevention until June 2023. Results: Initially, 638 articles were identified, and after a rigorous evaluation process, 11 articles were included in the evidence synthesis. The analysis revealed that HBM-based interventions significantly improved likelihood of taking action including knowledge, HBM constructs and adopting preventive behaviors such as calcium intake and exercise. However, most interventions included in this study did not fully encompass all five HBM constructs or specify the particular components adopted. Conclusion: There is a need for additional research and intervention refinement for a more comprehensive understanding of osteoporosis preventive interventions. This should involve a concerted effort to incorporate all HBM constructs into the context of osteoporosis prevention. Thus, more effective interventions promoting optimal preventive behaviors and reducing the burden of osteoporosis can be developed.
Objectives: An inadequate understanding of infertility can affect individuals' self-efficacy and ability to perform self-care; thus, reproductive health education is an important part of infertility treatment. The present qualitative study aimed to explore the experiences and educational needs of infertile women with regard to reproductive health. Methods: In this qualitative study, we utilized a content analysis approach. Purposive sampling was performed to ensure maximum diversity. In total, 23 individual interviews were conducted with 20 Iranian women with infertility and 3 key informants between July 2018 and February 2019 in northern Iran. Data were collected through in-depth, semi-structured interviews. Data analysis was performed using a conventional content analysis approach. Results: Reproductive health education needs were identified by analyzing interview data from 4 main categories: familiarity with the fertility process and preparation for pregnancy, recognition of infertility and expectations around seeking treatment, recognition of preventive actions associated with reproductive health, and correction of false beliefs. Recognizing the causes of infertility and understanding the different approaches to infertility treatment are among the most important educational needs of infertile women. The potential for neglect of health-related issues due to concerns about fertility and the maternal experience necessitates education about preventive measures for cervical cancer, breast cancer, and sexually transmitted infections. Correcting misconceptions, including those related to contraceptives and traditional medicine, can also help promote reproductive health. Conclusions: In infertile women, the educational needs associated with reproductive health are multifaceted. Satisfying these needs can help achieve optimal treatment results and promote reproductive health.
The study was designed to grasp the mental health of junior college students and identify the relation between mental health and social support. The subjects for this study were 781 sophomores attending T junior college in Taegu. The data were collected through questionnaire during the period from september 10,1993 to september 24, 1993. The results of this can be summarized as follows: In mental health the average mark was 1.94 on the basis of 5 marks. Those whose mark was more than 75% (low) had Depression(8.7%),Obsessive compulsive reaction(5.2%) Anxiety(3.6%). In social support, the average mark was 3.03 on the basis of 4 marks, which showed comparatively high support; relationship with friends was 75.4%, companionship was 75.4%, and mutual understanding was 72.3%. Many students got more than 75% in total marks. In the state of mental health, there was a significant difference depending on sex, total income, the character and the attitude toward his parents. There is also an unusual difference in social support depending on the major subjects, the character, the problem at present and the attitude toward his parents. In mental health, both male and female students got higher marks in Depression, Obsessive compulsive reaction than in any other item. In social support level all students had a high support in the relationship with friends and mutual understanding. Those who are affectionate to and dependent on their parents had a tendency to have better mental health. The simple correlation modules between social support mark and mental health one was -0.5555 and the partial correlation modules of controlling sex, age, growth place was -0.5557. There was little difference between them. In mental health items Interpersonal sensitivity was highest correlated with social support and Somatinization was lowest correlated. There was a significant correlation between mental health and social support: the higher social support were, the better mental health was. In conclusion, the study showed that the relationship between the social support and the mental health level revealed a significant correlation. In social support Expressive support (companionship support, mutual understanding support) showed a higher degree of support than instrumental support(monetary support, demand support). Therefore, in the guidance of students, it is necessary to expand expressive support considering these respects. Further multidimensional study is needed on how to improve the mental health of junior students through the social support.
The point of this study is to analyze the difference between the outsourcing staff and the permanent staff. Also, to do a comparative analysis of the degree of understanding of the two groups with regards to elements of the major organization culture. The subjects of the study carne from 9 Catholic hospitals, the outsourcing staff being 198 and the permanent staff being 206. A survey was conducted with them, using SPSS 12.0 and carrying out t-test and ANOVA. A summary of the actual results of this analysis are as follows: Among the elements of organization culture (principles of understanding, practice, education, values, work environ) there appeared a high level of understanding among the permanent staff. As for satisfaction about the facilities, the outsourcing staffs' satisfaction level was higher. Second, the results of analyzing the effectiveness of the factors in job satisfaction and involvement - show that as the elements of education, values, work environ etc. were rated higher, job satisfaction came out higher. Contrary to that, job satisfaction was lower as the work hours lengthened. Through the results of the above study, education program for the outsourcing staff are helped to understand the hospital's special characteristics, unique philosophy and values. Therefore, it is needed the development of new techniques of management for the outsourcing staff; through setting up a department whose whole responsibility is the education and administration of the outsourcing staff, their job satisfaction and involvement will improve.
