  • This study is intended to identify various reasons on the 'body' of women described in the paintings by Le Corbusier. As a great artist in the field of modern architecture, various figures of 'body' of women he painted were not a mere physiological body of a woman but a meaningful figure combined with many different types of concept in the social and cultural context. In the field of art, body is recently seen as a 'tool for thinking' that studies dealing with it are being actively conducted. Seen in this context, it is feasible to read the situations and causes at that time through movement and changes in the figure of women's bodies described in his painting. Even if it was a speculative inference, this study aimed examining what reasons and perspective Le Corbusier had when painting women's bodies and what message he intended to convey. Reasons on the 'bodies' of women derived in this study serve as an essence of mentality in understanding the spatial design that was constructed around the time of period. Adopting a different view from many of previous studies in the aspect of skills and spaces, it was intended to study changes in the complex and integrated causes in both spatial design and painting and re-interpret an essence of mentality of the spatial design in the humanistic approach according to the notions in society and culture.

  • The purpose of study is not only analyzes the space images expressed with mass-produced furniture of the time and economy throughout the cover pages of IKEA published catalogs since 1951 to 2015 but also is set to deduct the characteristics of spatial expression regarding the usage of digital media applied catalogs which is to be published along with the 2015 catalog. Thus, throughout research of basic literature such as domestic and foreign academic material, books, and websites, the theoretical consideration of the meaning of IKEA's pursuit of selling manufactured furnitures is foregone. Based on the above, Analyze and organize periodically applied interior space in accordance with context characteristic by understanding the attribute of catalogue from expansion of media space applied new digital media. The importance of research on IKEA is not only the quality of products designed by them, but emotional aspect that deeply penetrate customer's actual daily life. Implication of digital media message to advertisement is a important role in society that shares digitalized information. IKEA's innovative attempt of connection to new world using traditional method of marketing expression and smart device may help people better understand space.

  • The number of accidents in school zone is decreasing than before with the introduction of strengthening traffic safety policy since January 2011, but the danger still exists. The School zone sign is widely known to have much effect in protecting children from risks of traffic accidents, but design improvement is being demanded to improve a sense of safety and legibility of safety signs in School zone due to the lack of understanding on the safety signs in crosswalk and School zone. This study analyzed differences in shape and color of existing safety signs through a case analysis of traffic developed countries as America, England, Japan, and Germany and suggested improvement plans for drivers to clearly perceive the school zone. For improvement methods, this study suggested the importance of delivering definite and unified warning message for school zone to drivers by using indication sign and caution sign together, and to use yellow, a safety color, and to unify the safety sign into triangle shape that symbolizes warning and caution to conform the international standards. Actual design production and experiment through improvement plans are needed in the future, and it is expected to secure safety of children and to provide international standardization of safety signs in school zone.

  • To catch the message of Taoism inside the theory of Korean medicine, we have to understand the contents of Tao Te Ching(道德經) the only writings of Lao-tzu(老子). And to do that, precise translation into Korean language must be held before anything else. There have been a little bit more than 50 Korean versions of Tao-te-Ching, and we screened out 10 versions based on academic value. With them, we had a study on the translation of Tao Te Ching, from chapter 1 to 20. Our study found that the existing 10 versions have some obscure words, wrong paragraph classifications, descriptions out of context needing remedial actions for exact understanding. And Chinese words and phrases with various meanings could be translated correctly with our constant rule that values consistent context.

  • Data format of Big data is diverse and vast, and its generation speed is very fast, requiring new management and analysis methods, not traditional data processing methods. Textual mining techniques can be used to extract useful information from unstructured text written in human language in online documents on social networks. Identifying trends in the message of politics, economy, and culture left behind in social media is a factor in understanding what topics they are interested in. In this study, text mining was performed on online news related to a given keyword using topic - oriented analysis technique. We use Latent Dirichiet Allocation (LDA) to extract information from web documents and analyze which subjects are interested in a given keyword, and which topics are related to which core values are related.

  • The role of dialogue manager is to select proper actions based on observed environment and inferred user intention. This paper presents stochastic model for dialogue manager based on Markov decision process. To build a mixed initiative dialogue manager, we used accumulated user utterance, previous act of dialogue manager, and domain dependent knowledge as the input to the MDP. We also used dialogue corpus to train the automatically optimized policy of MDP with reinforcement learning algorithm. The states which have unique and intuitive actions were removed from the design of MDP by using the domain knowledge. The design of dialogue manager included the usage of natural language understanding and response generator to build short message based remote control of home networked appliances.

  • The dynamics of communications powered by the Internet, specifically from the increased use of social media, has led marketers to find creative channels to engage with the customers. One of the recent channels, "branded entertainment", is becoming familiar as an advertising strategy in which the content presented is a marketing tool for the advertising of certain brands. The current study examined the case of a branded-entertainment channel and the mechanism of the advertising instrument that leads to purchase intention. The specific purpose of this research is to investigate whether there is evidence of the role of narrative transportation and the fantasy proneness leading towards purchase of the brand advertised. To arrive at the conclusion, the study using web series sponsored by an artificial sweetener brand and employs a quantitative survey to question the audience. The findings contribute toward the understanding of how consumers respond to branded entertainment via video-sharing platforms. It is indicated that the stories presented in the web series can stimulate the audience to fantasize. Thus, the advertising message conveyed through narrative persuasion can form a favorable attitude toward the brand, which leads to intention to purchase. Practical elements are identified along with limitations and future research suggestions.

  • The main focus of this study is to understand realities of postmodern consumer culture by deconstructing fashion advertisements, Calvin Klein's ck One and cK be. The metaphysics of critical theory, visual and textual analysis are used to deconstructing the ads applying one of the postmodern cultural critics, Baudrillard' s notion of hyperreality. Through deconstructing the ads five postmodern characteristics representing hyperreality were found. First, there is no message regarding functional characteristics of the product offered in the ad, which is far from the modernist's utilitarian Point of view. Hyperreality in Postmodern consumer culture is consumption centered and focuses on the product's symbolic meanings. Second, especially for cK be, the ad uses atypicai, irrelevant models and images, which are introduced as a concept of ‘real people’ rather than the ideal person or body type. Third, there are transformations of the meanings from cK one to cK be such as the notions of globalization and gender which clearly represent ongoing reality in the Postmodern culture. Fourth, there are hidden meaning of hedonism and relativism, which are prevalent in postmodern ideology. Finally, models' bodies are used to convey messages as well as form the ground and figure in the ad that is a significant characteristic of postmodern consumer culture. In conclusion, the study of Calvin Klein's fashion ads supports the notion that advertising mirrors reality in postmodern consumer culture, which is hyperreality.

  • In this paper, we propose a distributed communication model of intrusion detection system(IDS) in which integrated security management at networks level is possible, model it at a security node and distributed system levels, design and implement a simulator. At the node level, we evaluate the transfer capability of alert message based on the analysis of giga-bit security node architecture which performs hardware-based intrusion detection. At the distributed system level, we perform the evaluation of transfer capability of detection and alert informations between components of distributed IDS. In the proposed model, we carry out the performance evaluation considering decision factors of communication mechanism and present the results in order to gain some quantitative understanding of the system.
