In Harbin, a network of underground commercial spaces has been developed to occupy spaces that were originally created as civil defense shelters. With the gradual extension of the local metro rail system, the existing underground commercial space is no longer an isolated regional development, but a space that represents "three-dimensional city" and coordinated development taking place in many Chinese cities. Based on the analysis of the unique development process taken in underground space of Harbin, this paper summarizes three characteristics of its early model of "fragmented development" of underground space. By conducting a comprehensive field research and survey, the researchers analyzed 472 questionnaires related to the development trend, and proposed multi-level synergistic elements for the renewal and development of underground commercial space. The paper concludes by discussing the trend of "three-dimensional and collaborative development," suitable for the development needs of the new era, and the corresponding development strategies for the renewal of underground space.
Singapore government is strongly promoting the development and utilization of underground space in national level due to the nature of the city state which lacks the land. As well as conventional underground utilization in shallow depth such as metro and underground roads, large rock cavern utilization has been started after the successful completion of the underground ammunition depot in the rock, and Jurong Rock Cavern, the second large underground cavern project has just been completed. In this paper, after evaluating the conditions of the underground development in rock mass through the analysis of the geology of Singapore, the history and current status of underground development are examined. Several creative development plans from Singapore government such as underground reservoirs, underground automation logistics systems and underground warehouses storage etc. are introduced with technical issues. This paper also discusses the problems and issues related to the development of large underground space in rock mass in Singapore. It is expected that such active development of underground space in Singapore can give many opportunities and also challenges for rock engineering and industry in the future.

The purpose of this study is to present systematic information and direction to urban underground space development industry, civil engineering and R&D. Regarding the development of urban underground space, the situation in Korea, especially now in Seoul, can be called an underground Renaissance. The Superground project, which has been going on for several years through international competition, is now completed and is about to open the Seoul Architecture Museum. Leading underground space complex development project of Yeongdongdaero, which is the largest living underground space in human history, spectral projects such as the Seoul section of the GTX routes, making underground roads of the Dongbu Expressway and the Seobu Expressway are now speeding up progress. Recently, plans have been made to use the underground more actively through the restructuring project of Gwanghwamun Square, the face of Seoul. And then, patents are indispensable resources for establishing a strategy for R&D as one of the indices showing what technologies have been developed and what technology development will be done in the future. Based on this background, this study attempts to classify and define the technical elements of urban underground space development through the analysis of patents of major countries in the world, and analyze and present state of technology level and situation accordingly.

Underground construction requires long construction duration and a variety of equipment, and environmental management and improvement of its activities are considered necessary. For the purpose of the environmental improvement of underground construction activities, the appropriate development of technologies to reduce generated pollutants is mandatory. However, the analysis of the needs of technology development and the evaluation of development priorities should take precedence. In this research, the needs for the improvement of each construction activity are analyzed as a preliminary study for a proposed technology development plan to improve the environmental performance of underground construction. Firstly, environmental problem factors caused by underground construction activities are determined while underground construction types, methods, and activities are classified. A questionnaire survey to determine the needs for the improvement of each activity is then carried out. The survey indicated that the most urgent activity to be improved is that of cutting excavation, which causes environmental problems associated with flying dust. This study could be used as a basis for a technology development plan for the environmental improvement of underground construction activities. The result of this study, the priority of improvement needs, contributes to the effective allocation of a limited Research and Development (R&D) budget.
Recently, due to the gravitation of the population and traffic congestion, the land supply tends to be short. Underground space development is considered positively as a countermeasure. This study was to review the basic principles of underground space, to find out problems, and to propose the direction for the effective development of underground space.
It shows a tendency to increase rapidly underground of the city due to the build up of the large residential districts with industrial development, so there is required the development of the connection device for underground low voltage cable with high quality & convenient for use with consideration for installation condition of the underground. Hence, We will have the development of the connection device for underground low voltage cable, which is made waterproof perfectly under the flood of the underground for the long time, is convenient for use in spite of narrow area such as manhole or handhole, and can be able to prevent the release by the vibration.

In recent years, as the number of ground subsidence has increased nationwide, the latest and usefulness of underground information for underground space development and underground safety management has become more important than ever. However, the 3D Underground Geospatial Map project, which started in 2015, has a problem with the manual-based long-term update system. This research paper overcomes these limitations and automatically updates the 3D CAD/GIS-based integrated management of underground structures that can be managed automatically from a full-cycle perspective of underground structure data management such as processing, transformation, updating, management, and visualization of 2D/3D underground structure data. If this technology is applied, it is possible to integrate processing and update management of the existing complex 3D construction logic of underground structures in one system, and it is expected that it can be used for underground space development and underground safety management as a foundation technology for automatic update of underground structures data.
The urban land is incapacitated to grow and correspond to demand the space in urban area. And recently, rapid increasing of population and complex of urban function on pushed to develop the underground space. In Korea, the underground space development in inefficient in aspect. because development of underground space have not consistent and systematic planning method in underground environment inclounding interion design, extererior design. Therefore this study is suggested the design element for comfortable underground living environment and assortment on utilization of underground space. The results of this study on utilization are security of space through land use efficiency, conservation of historical place, building and natural environment, and technological characteristics, mental image. Accordingly, this study is proposed design element that make comfortable underground space as aspect from stimulation and diversity, sapciousness and feeling of warmth and dryness to compensate improper image of underground space, spacial orientation and way finding.
Approximately 70% of the Korean peninsula is composed of mountains, around 99,274 $km^2$. Even worse, population rate of Korea is the No.3 in the world now. Accordingly, it is necessary to develop the potential underground space actively with the concept of another territory to be utilized. The development of underground space should be considered not a choice but an indispensable issue. Since 1970s, many large-scale underground structures have been constructed like as crude-oil storage bins, liquefied petroleum gas storage caverns, and underground pumped storage powerplants. Also, In urban area, the underground facilities such as subway networks, underground shopping mall, underground pedestrian network, electric power tunnels, and car parking lots have been used extensively. The scale of Yeosu oil and gas underground storage facility and Seoul subway systems are one of the massive scale in the world. Recently, the trend of the development of underground space becomes more diverse and larger scale. The current status of Korean underground space developments and strategy are described in this paper.
The underground space of urban entertainment center can do various roles for urban development. Especially, the design of underground space using natural elements is necessary to sustainable development of facilities. The purpose of this study is to propose the elements, characteristics and application around interior environmental design using natural elements in underground space of urban entertainment center. The research methods of this study are research references, survey and field-study. This study can be concluded as follows; First, the factors of interior environmental design using natural elements in underground space of urban entertainment center are 'landmarks expression of natural elements', 'introduction and planning of daylighting', 'planning of materials using natural images', 'planning of ecological footpath' and 'planning of energy recycling'. Second, pedestrian space and openspace considering regional context are necessary. Third, introduction of daylight and design of artificial lighting in underground space are needed to making eco-friendly environment. Fourth, landmark design using various natural elements in underground space is needed to provide eco-friendly amenity. Fifth, the interior environmental design using natural elements is needed to community space in underground space. Sixth, eco-friendly pedestrian space in underground space is necessary. Seventh, interior environmental design using natural elements is needed to the entrance of underground space of urban entertainment center.
