Spectrum Sensing Under Uncertain Channel Modeling

  • We examine spectrum sensing in a situation of uncertain channel model. In particular, we assume that, besides additive noise, the observed signal contains an interference term whose probability distribution is unknown, and only its range and maximum power are known. We discuss the evaluation of the detector performance and its design in this situation. Although this paper specifically deals with the design of spectrum sensors, its scope is wider, as the applicability of its results extends to a general class of problems that may arise in the design of receivers whenever there is uncertainty about how to model the environment in which one is expected to operate. The theory expounded here allows one to determine the performance of a receiver, by combining the available (objective) probabilistic information with (subjective) information describing the designer's attitude.

  • Natural convection of nanofluid flow between two vertical flat plates has been analyzed in uncertain environment.Anon-Newtonian fluid SodiumAlginate (SA) as base fluid and nanoparticles ofCopper(Cu) are taken into consideration.   • Based on non-completely hybrid flow line scheduling of panel block in shipbuilding, several uncertain factors influencing the problem were analyzed in a real environment, and a nonlinear integer programming model was built for each sub-scheduling problem. To narrow the difference between theory and application, rolling horizon and rescheduling methods are proposed. Moreover, with respect to the uncertainty of processing time, arriving time and due time, we take the minimizing of the early and delayed delivery costs as the objective, and establish an evaluation with a global penalty function. Finally, numerical experiments and a simulation analysis were undertaken to demonstrate the effectiveness of the model and algorithm.

  • The aim of this study is to understand and redefine the nature of architectural environment within the paradigm of natural science. The chaos theory non-equilibrium thermodynamics theory self-organization of modern physics offer new insights to explain not only natural phenomena but also to define creative and dynamic architectural environment. First natural laws in modern physics like the arrow of time but is related not only with certainty but also possibility so nature is understood as a constantly changing process of evolution. Second the new architectural environment is defined as a kind of fluid and irreducible organic biosytem that cannot be fully understood by modernist idea of architecture. It is conceived of as a fluid constantly changing self-oraganizing system that consists of different situations events movements and programs in uncertain and irreducible time frame. Third insights and implications of natural science offer new language and strategy for design and the two disciplines can be understood as interdependent and co-evolving

Dynamic response uncertainty analysis of vehicle-track coupling system with fuzzy variables

  • Dynamic analysis of a vehicle-track coupling system is important to structural design, damage detection and condition assessment of the structural system. Deterministic analysis of the vehicle-track coupling system has been extensively studied in the past, however, the structural parameters of the coupling system have uncertainties in engineering practices. It is essential to treat the parameters of the vehicle-track coupling system with consideration of uncertainties. In this paper, a method for predicting the bounds of the vehicle-track coupling system responses with uncertain parameters is presented. The uncertain system parameters are modeled as fuzzy variables instead of conventional random variables with known probability distributions. Then, the dynamic response functions of the coupling system are transformed into a component function based on the high dimensional representation approximation. The Lagrange interpolation method is used to approximate the component function. Finally, the bounds of the system's dynamic responses can be predicted by using Monte Carlo method for the interpolation polynomials of the Lagrange interpolation function. A numerical example is introduced to illustrate the ability of the proposed method to predict the bounds of the system's dynamic responses, and the results are compared with the direct Monte Carlo method. The results show that the proposed method is effective and efficient to predict the bounds of the system's dynamic responses with fuzzy variables.

  • This study was conducted to performance appraisal of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs), especially in terms of performance on development & reduction plan and water quality status of unit watershed. Because load allocations for pollution sources were predicted redundantly by uncertainty of prediction, TMDLs master plan has been frequently changed to acquire load allocation for local development. Therefore, It need to be developed more resonable prediction techniques of water pollution sources to preventing the frequent change. It is suggested that the reduction amount have to be distributed properly during the planning period. In other words, it has not to be concentrated on the specific year (especially final year of the planning period). The reason why, if the reduction amount concentrate on the final year of the planning period, allotment loading amount could not be achieved in some cases (e.g., insufficiency of budget, extension of construction duration). If the development plan was developed including uncertain developments, it is necessary to be developed reduction plan considered with them. However, some of the plans in the reduction plan could not be accomplished in some case. Because, it is not considered financial abilities of local governments. Consequently, development plan must be accomplished to avoid uncertain developments, and to consider financial assistance to support the implementation of effective plan. Water quality has been improved in many unit watersheds due to the TMDLs, especially in geum river and yeongsang/seomjin river.

Health in Optimal Fitness and its Related Factors in Young Korean Children Born Prematurely

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to describe health in optimal fitness (HOF) in young children born prematurely and to analyze factors affecting HOF in health status, investment resources, and anthropological values, based on HOF theory. Methods: A case-control study of 76 children with preterm births (PTB) was conducted at 24 to 42 months of corrected age. Their HOF status was evaluated based on height, weight, head circumference, and the Korean-Bayley Scale of Infant Development-II and classified as either HOF-achieved or HOF-uncertain in the domain of growth, development, and all together. Results: For growth, development, and all, 26.3%, 27.6%, and 47.4% of children, respectively, belonged to the HOF-uncertain group. Logistic regression analysis showed that longer length of hospital stay (${\geq}21days$; OR=7.8; 95% CI [1.5, 40.5]), worse scores on the Home Observation for Measurement of the Environment (HOME) (${\geq}38$; OR=0.1; 95% CI [0.0, 0.4]), having a working mother, (OR=5.7; 95% CI [1.2, 27.6]), and an older mother (${\geq}35years$; OR=8.8; 95% CI [2.1, 37.3]) were statistically significant contributors of HOF-uncertain in the domain of all. Conclusion: Findings show that young children born prematurely with prolonged stays in a neonatal intensive care unit and insufficient socioeconomic resources at home are more likely to exhibit delayed growth and development.

  • In the future, the ubiquitous computing environment will provide users with context-aware services, intelligently interacting with omnipresent resources and surrounding environments at any location and time. Therefore, the ubiquitous computing environment requires context-aware applications in order to gather and analyze context information in various situations. However, existing context-aware applications have mainly focused on providing services and adapting themselves to users based on user related contexts. But this environment requires not only user related contexts but also Quality-of-Service (QoS) related contexts. In this paper we propose a frame-work for supporting user-oriented QoS in ubiquitous environments. The proposed approach adopts a semantic ontology and a neural network algorithm in order to reason about explicit and uncertain contexts. We also show the possibility of applying the framework to real environments such as collaborative engineering service, automobile maintenance service and ubiquitous home service.

  • This paper describe an approximation method for solving the minimum makespan problem of job shop scheduling with fuzzy processing time. We consider the multi-part production scheduling problem in a job shop scheduling. The job shop scheduling problem is a complex system and a NP-hard problem. The problem is more complex if the processing time is imprecision. The Fuzzy set theory can be useful in modeling and solving scheduling problems with uncertain processing times. Lee-Li fuzzy number comparison method will be used to compare processing times that evaluated under fuzziness. This study propose heuristic algorithm solving the job shop scheduling problem under fuzzy environment. In This study the proposed algorithm is designed to treat opinions of experts, also can be used to solve a job shop environment under the existence of alternate operations. On the basis of the proposed method, an example is presented.
