  • An adaptive control scheme is presented for uncertain systems whose uncertainties are upper-bounded by a linear combination of unknown constants and known continuous functions. The state of the closed-loop system is proven to be ultimately bounded. The proposed method modifies the method of Corless and Leitmann in the following two respects. First, the linear region of the saturation function in controller is fixed. Second, the intergration from in parameter estimator is replaced by a low pass filter form. These modifications prevent performance degradation and destabilization of the control system more effectively. The norm of the system states can be made sufficiently small by an appropriate choice of design parameters in the control law. The applicability of the proposed scheme is demonstrated in the position control of a simple pendulum via simulation.

  • This paper presents the road simulator control technology for reproducing the road input signal to implement the real road data. The simulator consists of the hydraulic pump, servo valve, hydraulic actuator and its control equipment. The QFT(Quantitative Feedback Theory) is utilized to control the simulator effectively. The control system illustrates a tracking performance of the closed-loop controller with low order transfer function G(s) and pre-filter F(s) for a parametric uncertain model. A force controller is designed to communicate the control signal between simulator and digital controller. Tracking specification is satisfied with upper and lower bound tolerances on the steep response of the system to the reference signal. The efficacy of the QFT force controller is verified through the numerical simulation, in which combined dynamics and actuation of the hydraulic servo system are tested. The simulation results show that the proposed control technique works well under uncertain hydraulic plant system. The conventional software (Labview) is used to make up for the real controller in the real-time basis, and the experimental works show that the proposed algorithm works well for a single road simulator.

  • This paper describes the design of a robust adaptive fuzzy observer for uncertain nonlinear dynamical system. We propose a new method in which no strictly positive real (SPR) condition is needed. No a priori knowledge of an upper bound on the lumped uncertainty is required. The Lyapunov synthesis approach is used to guarantee a semi-global uniform ultimate boundedness property of the state observation error, as well as of all other signals in the closed-loop system. The theoretical results are illustrated through a simulation example of a mass-spring-damper system.

  • In this paper, we consider the guaranteed cost filtering design method for time-varying delay system with parameter uncertainties by LMI(Linear Matrix Inequality) approach. The objective is to design a stable guaranteed cost filter which minimizes the guaranteed cost fo the closed loop systems in filtering error dynamics. The sufficient conditions for the existence of filter, the guaranteed cost filter design method, and th guaranteed cost upper bound are proposed by LMI technique in terms of all finding variables. Finally, we give an example to check the validity of the proposed method.

  • This paper is concerned with the reliable $H_{\infty}$ controller design problem for uncertain linear systems against actuator failures. In the design, the $H_{\infty}$ performance of the closed-loop system is optimized during normal operation(without failures) while the system satisfies a prescribed $H_{\infty}$ performance level in the case of actuator failures. Single and parameter-dependent Lyapunov function approaches are applied in designing suboptimal reliable $H_{\infty}$ controllers. Simulation studies are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design procedures.

  • This paper deals with the design problem of multivariable PID controllers guaranteeing the closed-loop system stability and a prescribed $H_\infty$ norm bound constraint. We reduce the problem to the static output feedback stabilization problem. We derive a necessary and sufficient condition f3r the existence of PID controllers and we give an explicit formula of PID controllers. We also give an existence condition of PID controllers guaranteeing a prescribed decay rate. Finally, we give an LMI-based design algorithm, together with a numerical design example.

  • In this paper, a robust $H{\infty}$ stabilization problem to a uncertain discrete-time nonlinear systems with time-delay via fuzzy static output feedback is investigated. The Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model is employed to represent an uncertain nonlinear systems with time-delayed state. Then parallel distributed compensation technique is used for designing of the robust fuzzy controller. Using a single Lyapunov function, the globally asymptotic stability and disturbance attenuation of the closed-loop fuzzy control system are discussed. Sufficient conditions for the existence of robust $H{\infty}$ controllers are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities via similarity transform and congruence transform technique.

  • This note is concerned with a robust sliding mode control(SMC) for a class of unmatched uncertain system with severe commensurate state time delay. The suggested method is extended to the control of severe state time delay systems with unmatched uncertainties except the matched input matrix uncertainty. A transformed sliding surface is proposed and a stabilizing control input is suggested. The closed loop stability together with the existence condition of the sliding mode on the proposed sliding surface is investigated through one Lemma and two Theorems by using the Lyapunov direct method with the concept of the control Lyapunov function instead of complex Lyapunov-Kravoskii functionals. Through an illustrative example and simulation study, the usefulness of the main results is verified.
