아두이노와 초음파 센서를 이용한 실험용 수위 측정 장치 개발 (Development of experimental water level measuring device using an Arduino and an ultrasonic sensor)

  • 수위는 하수장, 정수장, 하천, 댐, 공장의 저장탱크 등 다양한 분야에서 측정된다. 수위측정을 위한 초음파 기기가 판매중이나 산업용으로 실험에서 사용하기는 가격이 너무 비싸다. 전자 기술의 급속한 진보로 인해 다양한 종류의 측정, 모니터링 및 제어 기능이 저렴하게 구축하는 것이 가능해졌다. 저렴한 가격으로 초음파 수위 측정시스템을 만들기 위하여 본 연구가 시작되었다. 실험용으로 사용하기 위하여 아두이노, 초음파 센서 및 온도 센서로 시스템을 구성하였다. 초음파 센서는 센서에서 수위 표면까지의 시간을 측정한다. 온도 센서는 대기 온도를 측정하며 온도 변화로 인한 소리의 속도를 보정하여 초음파 거리 측정의 정확성을 높인다. 아두이노는 측정 전반을 관리하고 수위를 계산한다. 시스템의 모든 구성 요소는 장치거치대에 조립되었다. 제안된 시스템을 가지고 실험한 결과 수위가 실측치와 매우 가까웠다. 이 시스템은 또한 저렴하며 설치 및 유지하기가 쉬워 실험용으로 적절하다.

Improved ultrasonic beacon system for indoor localization

  • One of the most important factors so that mobile objects can achieve their purpose is the information about their positions. In this paper, we propose an improved beacon system, to which ultrasonic sensors are attached, for the indoor localization of mobile objects. We have researched so that it can cover the wider space and estimate more accurate positions than the existent beacon systems. The existent beacon systems have the constraint that one beacon cannot cover wide area since ultrasonic sensors have limits in the angle of signal (beam-angle) on which their signal strength depends. Hence, we used the active beacon which consists of a pan-tilt mechanism and a beacon module. The active beacon system can always aim at mobile objects in order to transmit the strongest signal of the ultrasonic sensors into the objects using the pan-tilt mechanism. In addition, this system is inexpensive because it can decrease the number of beacons by about a half of the beacons of the existent system. Finally, the results show what is the difference between the active beacon system and existent beacon systems, and how accurate it is.

  • This paper proposed ultrasonic distance measurement module development for correct distance detection with collision escaping or obstacle of mobile robot is traveling self-regulation. Representative ultrasonic module applied in existing was Polaroid company's 6500 series and Devantech company's SRF04/SRF08 series. This ultrasonic sensors are corrupted by systematic errors due mainly to the dependency of sound speed upon surrounding conditions and random errors of uncertain origin. Therefore Ultrasonic distance detecting means of error compensation method and high definition, narrow beam angle, board area distance detecting means to apply to ultrasonic mobile robot control urgently need. In this paper use internal type temperature compensation method to improve problem of ultrasonic distance measurement method instead of that volume that have shortcoming of used correct temperature compensation methods applied big addition device. Compensate error by environment change of temperature. Humidity density etc. and is applicable to mobile robot offering various interface and real-time processing developed possible distance measurement module.

  • Ultrasonic fiber sensor is more cost-effective than optical fiber sensor using light. However, optical fiber lines are separately used for sensing. Thus, if it is applied for huge system, it is need many lines of the sensor systems. To overcome this point, novel ultrasonic sensor systems considering wave cancellation and modulation were newly developed. By using this schema, reference-free sensor system can be developed. By using ultrasonic waves of different excitation frequencies, multiple input-signal output sensor system was also developed by applying spectrum analyses. Using the array type sensor system, the leakage of liquid and its evaporation can be monitored successfully.

  • This paper is to develop a measurement system of the displacement distance using ultrasonic sensors. Two 400KHz ultrasonic sensors are used for realizing the measurement system, such as one sensor transmits the sine wave and the other sensor receives this wave. The displacement is measured by the phase difference between transmitting and receiving signals. A phase defecter transforms phase difference to voltage. Because the output voltage pattern has nonlinear characteristics, the relations of the voltage and the distance are learned by a neural network. As the results of teaming, the efficiency of measurement system is improved. This system can measure the displacement distance at the accuracy of 1 micrometer level.

  • This is an experimental study on the chassis dynamometer and high way road testing during a severe winter and summer season. Results obtained to compare with the ultrasonic fuel feeding system and conventional fuel system in diesel automobile engine. The results were as followers in case of the ultrasonic fuel feeding system. 1. In chassis dynamometer testing during given vehicle speeds, output were increased from 4.6 to 11.43%, brake specific fuel consumption were increased from 6 to 19%, smoke were decreased from 16.7 to 50%. 2. The running fuel consumption ratio in high way road test were decreased by 15.3% at a severe summer and 20.2% at a severe winter.

  • The emergency AC power supply system of the nuclear power plant is designed to supply the power to the nuclear power plant at the emergency operating condition. The safety function of the diesel generator at the nuclear power plant is to supply AC electric power to the safety system whenever the preferred AC power supply is unavailable. The reliable operation of onsite standby diesel generator should be ensured by a condition monitoring system designed to maintain, monitor and forecast the reliability level of diesel generator. The purpose of this paper is to improve the existing ultrasonic sensor used for condition diagnosis of engine fuel pump and cylinder head for the accurate diagnosis in actual engine condition of emergency diesel generator(EDG). As a result of this study, we could design and develop much more reliable ultrasonic sensor than existing ones.

초음파 위치인식 시스템과 INS 결합을 통한 차량의 자율 주행 (Autonomous Navigation of the Vehicle Via Ultrasonic Positioning System and INS Integration)

  • For a vehicle to follow a reference path accurately, its position must be estimated accurately and reliably. In this paper, we propose a lateral control algorithm for autonomous navigation of a vehicle via USAT(Ultrasonic Satellite System), which is an absolute position measurement system using an ultrasonic wave and INS(Inertial Navigation System) integration. In order to estimate the vehicle's parameters, a J-turn test is used. And the autonomous navigation performances of proposed lateral control algorithm and validity of proposed lateral control algorithm are verified and evaluated by simulation and experiments.

  • 초음파 파워의 정확한 측정은 초음파 의료 장비의 품질 보증과 안전성에 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 초음파 조사가 on/off를 반복하는 동안의 표적에 작용하는 방사 힘과 부력과 같은 다른 원인에서 기인하는 저울 지시 값의 시간에 따른 변화로부터 초음파 파워를 결정하는 간단한 이론을 제시하였다. 아울러 개발된 초음파 파워 측정 시스템에 대해 정밀 기계적 정렬장치, 전기신호 발생부 구성, 제어 및 측정부 구성 및 적절한 절차와 함께 상세히 기술하였다. 본 시스템으로 1 MHz, 5 MHz, 10 MHz, 15 MHz에서 10 mW에서 10 W범위에 걸쳐 측정된 결과를 다른 나라에서 교정된 기준 데이터와 상호 비교한 결과 상대 편차가 $5\%$ 이내로 확인되었다.

Simultaneous and Multi-frequency Driving System of Ultrasonic Sensor Array for Object Recognition

  • Ultrasonic sensors are widely used in mobile robot applications to recognize external environments, because they are cheap, easy to use, and robust under varying lighting conditions. However, the recognition of objects using a ultrasonic sensor is not so easy due to its characteristics such as narrow beam width and no reflected signal from a inclined object. As one of the alternatives to resolve these problems, use of multiple sensors has been studied. A sequential driving system needs a long measurement time and does not take advantage of multiple sensors. Simultaneous and pulse coding driving system of ultrasonic sensor array cannot measure short distance as the length of the code becomes long. This problem can be resolved by multi-frequency driving of ultrasonic sensors, which allows multi-sensors to be fired simultaneously and adjacent objects to be distinguished. Accordingly, this paper presents a simultaneous and multi-frequency driving system for an ultrasonic sensor array for object recognition. The proposed system is designed and implemented using a DSP and FPGA. A micro-controller board is made using a DSP, Polaroid 6500 ranging modules are modified for firing the multi-frequency signals, and a 5-channel frequency modulated signal generating board is made using a FPGA. To verify the proposed method, experiments were conducted in an environment with overlapping signals, and the flight distances for each sensor were obtained from filtering of the received overlapping signals and calculation of the time-of-flights.
