  • Context-aware intelligent services are essential in ubiquitous computing and intelligent robots environments, which make decisions on which services to start with the consideration of surrounding contexts. In the ubiquitous and intelligent environments, context-aware service engines should be light-weighted due to the resource restrictions on the devices. This paper presents a context-aware service engine which is designed for light-weighted devices. The context-aware service engine has been designed with special attention to improve the execution speed and to minimize the memory requirement.

  • With the development of information communication and network technologies, ubiquitous era that supports various services regardless of places and time has been advancing. The development of such technologies has a great influence on educational environments. As a result, e-learning concepts that learners use learning contents in anywhere and anytime have been proposed. The various learning contents authoring systems that consider the e-learning environments have also been developed. However, since most of the existing authoring systems support only PC environments, they are not suitable for various ubiquitous mobile devices. In this paper, we design and implement a contents authoring system based on learning activities for u-learning environments. Our authoring system significantly improves the efficiency for authoring contents and supports various ubiquitous devices as well as PCs.

  • The Mobile device like smart phone is a small computing device and easy to carry around. The Mobile devices are wildly being used as desktop personal computer and can served individual services. Because of compatibility of applications working on mobile devices are not good, so developer need to develop it that match changes in platform fetures. In this paper, we design and implementate ubiquitous healthcare monitoring system that can be runs on many different platforms using HTML5 as a standard web development language and jQuery as a javascript library. Ubiquitous healthcare monitoring system is runs on on many different platforms like mobile platforms and desktop web browsers.

  • Although wireless devices ar the most suitable for ubiquitous environment, they have restrictive capacities when using internet services than desktop environment. Considering different system features of mobile devices such as small display and limited input capability, an alternative scheme to access the Web efficiently is required. In the paper, we propose a mobile service method of S&T information content to support ubiquitous environment though the case study of KISTI's Scent of Science content service based on mobile.

  • Network infrastructure has spread to an unprecedented extent and is used in various computing devices, such as smart appliances, smart phones, and embedded devices with sensors, which have all been appearing in the computing environment. To accommodate this trend, for a more intelligent service environment, the service platform needs to have abilities that facilitate the operation between services, dynamically share distributed computing resources, and manage appropriate contextual information. We have simulated a service platform to provide intelligent services using contextual information after having implemented the context management service. The context management service gathers raw contextual information from sensors and stores these in the context database. For a consistent basis of contextual information, time and location are used as the key values of the contextual information. The context management service also performs normalization to provide computable contextual information to context-aware applications. In this paper, a service platform based on Jini technology is proposed for constructing an interoperable, dynamic, and . intelligent service environment using contextual information.

  • The rapid growth of ubiquitous technology has increased the demand of storage capacity in mobile computing. iSCSI(Internet Small Computer Interface), a virtual storage protocol would be one of the possible solutions to resolve this problem. However, the insecure nature of this protocol makes it vulnerable to malicious attacks. In this paper, we aims to design and propose a new secure lightweight iSCSI-based virtual storage scheme for mobile devices. Suitable security mechanisms are considered in the design of our proposed solution in order to overcome existing security problems in iSCSI. Relevant experiments are tarried out and the results revealed that the efficiency of proposed algorithm in which it introduces over 100% Read/Write performance improvement compared with the IPsec approach.

  • A ubiquitous network allows all users to access and exchange information of any kind freely at any time, from anywhere, and from any appliance through the use of broadband and mobile access. Bluetooth commincation can provide the missing wireless extension to the heterogeneous network, allowing a more ubiquitous access. In this point of view, the BT specifications define ways for which each BT device can set up multiple connections with neighboring devices to communicate in a multi-hop fashion. this paper provides insights on the Bluetooth technology and on some limitations of the scatternet formations. so that, we describe a new multi-hop routing protocol for the establishment of scatternets. this protocol defines rules for forming a multi-hop topology in two phases. the first phase, topology discovery, concerns the discovery of the node's depth from a root node initiating inquiry process. the second phase forms scatternet topology based on the result of topology discovery.

  • The rapid increase in the penetration rate and diverse utility of smart devices opens an opportunity for a development in creating a user-oriented ubiquitous system. And it allows audiences to deploy the exhibition-helping contents regardless of the restriction of place and time with using the smart devices of audience themselves. Also it needs to build a mobile web-based portal system for the related services. To do this, Firstly, it needs the corresponding strategies on a smartphone-based environment such as technical competence, systematic preparation of exhibition with compatible mobile contents, and a compatible channel for interactivity. Secondly, it needs the differentiation of exhibition guide with the existing system: an adoption of augmented reality, panoramic technology and simulation effect aiming for an improvement in a sense of immersion and reality for audience, and building up additional contents with a diversity of formats of image, sound, and video for customer satisfaction.

  • The number of mobile devices roaming into a ubiquitous city (u-city) continues to rise as wireless systems have been widely deployed. The number of mobile devices also varies with time, and they tend to frequently change their locations. In addition, the available wireless access networks may belong to different domains, administrations, management, and internet service providers (ISPs). A fusion of overlapping heterogeneous wireless access networks (e.g., WiMax, Wi-Fi, LTE, etc.) serves the u-city in order to reach different coverage. In this context, technical challenges arise in mobility management for heterogeneous networks to realize their potential coverage and capacity benefits. This paper deals with the analysis of a decentralized mobility management support for u-City wireless network infrastructure. This scheme takes advantage of the features of the fully-distributed model of networked-based mobility management protocol to alleviate and realize the ubiquitous requirements of a u-City.

  • Although all printed cost-less radio frequency identification (RFID) tags have been considered as a core tool for bringing up a ubiquitous society, the difficulties in integrating thin film transistors (TFTs), diodes and capacitors on plastic foils using a single in-line printing method nullify their roles for the realization of the ubiquitous society1,2. To prove the concept of all printed cost-less RFID tag, the practical degree of the integration of those devices on the plastic foils should be successfully printed to demonstrate multi bit RFID tag. The tag contains key device units such as 13.56 MHz modulating TFT, digital logic gates and 13.56 MHz rectifier to generate and transfer multi bit digital codes via a wireless communication (13.56 MHz). However, those key devices have never been integrated on the plastic foils using printing method yet because the electrical fluctuation of fully printed TFTs and diodes on plastic foils could not be controlled to show the function of desired devices. In this work, fully gravure printing process in printing 13.56 MHz operated 32 bit RFID tags on plastic foils has been demonstrated for the first time to prove all printed RFID tags on plastic foils can wirelessly generate and transfer 32 bit digital codes using the radio frequency of 13.56 MHz. This result proved that the electrical fluctuations of printed TFTs and diodes on plastic foils should be controlled in the range of maximum 20% to properly operate 32 bit RFID tags.
