  • Aircraft noise is one of the main causes of environmental impact. It is more serious than any other noise nuisance. It has become an increasing source of annoyance to the large number of people who live in communities near airports. This paper demonstrates the prediction of aircraft noise using Integrated Noise Model (INM) 5.1 developed by U.S. FAA and aircraft noise contour map near airports.

  • This paper is concerned with the impulsive Cauchy problem (equation omitted) where u is a possibly discontinuous vector-valued function and f, $g_{i}$ : $IR^{n}$ -> $IR^{n}$ are suitably smooth functions. We show that the input-output map is Lipschitz continuous and investigate compactness of reachable sets.

  • We examine the bi-rotational hypersurface x = x(u, v, w) with the third Laplace-Beltrami operator in the four dimensional Euclidean space 𝔼4. Giving the i-th curvatures of the hypersurface x, we obtain the third Laplace-Beltrami operator of the bi-rotational hypersurface satisfying ∆IIIx =𝒜x for some 4 × 4 matrix 𝒜.

Construction of Deletion Map of 16q by LOH Analysis from HCC Patients and Physical Map on 16q 23.3 - 24.1 Region

  • Loss of heterozygosity (LOH) has been used to detect deleted regions of a specific chromosome in cancer cells. LOH on chromosome 16q has been reported to occur frequently in progressed hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Liver tissues from 37 Korean HCC patients were analyzed for LOH by using 25 polymorphic microsatellite markers distributed along 16q. Out of the 37 HCC patients studied, 21 patients (56.8%) showed LOH in various regions of 16q with at least one polymorphic marker. Puring the analysis of these 21 LOH cases, 6 patients showed interstitial LOHs in which the boundary of the LOH region was defined. With two rounds of LOH analysis, five commonly occurring interstitial LOH regions were identified; 16q21-22.1, 16q22.2 - 22.3, 16q22.3, 16q23.2 and 16q23.3 - 24.1. Among the five LOH regions the 16q23.3 - 24.1 region has been reported to be related with chromosome instability. A complete physical map, which covers the 3.2 Mb region of 16q23.3 - 24.1 (D16S402 and D16S486), was constructed to identify novel candidate tumor suppressor genes. We provide the minimally tiling path map consisting of 28 BAC clones. There was one gap between NT_10422.11 and NT_019609.9 of the human genome sequence contig (NCBI sequence build 33, April 29, 2003). This gap can be filled by sequencing the R-1425M20 clone which bridges these sequence contigs.

  • Increase of marine transpotation in coastal area frequently yields oil spill accidents due to collision or grounding of oil tankers, which affects great deal of damages on ocean environments. Exact prediction of oil pollution area in time domain, which is called oil map, is very important for effective and efficient oil recovery and minimization of environmental damage. The prediction is carried out by considering the two distinct processes which are initial diffusion on the still water surface and advection due to tide, wind wave induced surface currents. In the present paper, only the initial diffusion is dealt with. Somewhat new simulation model and its numerical scheme are proposed to predict it. Simple diffusion experiment is also carried out to check the validity of the present method. Furthermore, some example simulations are performed for virtual oil spill accident. Quite realistic oil map including oil thickness distributions can be obtained by the present model.

  • Spatial information systems have developed in order to provide users with customized land information in u-City environments. The spatial information systems can detect spatial information for users anytime anywhere. Information which is analyzed by data mining techniques can be offered for other users. Therefore, we propose open map API-based prototype which utilizes frequent pattern mining technique. Proposed prototype can mine interesting trip routes and unknown attractions in location data of geophoto. Also, proposed prototype is the first attempt which analyzes spatial patterns can be represented on a map which is selected by users. Our prototype can be applied to the smart phone like mobile devices.

  • Computerized map reading system is one of the most important application areas in the image processing.A map databaes can be used for a wide range of scial activities such as narural resource assessment,regional plan-ming,and reaffic nabigation system. The road segments,however,are extracted as briken in the area where they are overlapped and interupted by chracters and symbols.Few approaches have been taken to complete road segnents interupted by map symbols.In this paper,a movel approach for the extracation and completion of road segements interupted by map symbols is proposed using neural networks.The system is applied to 1/25,000 scaled maps published by the Grographical Survey Unstitute of Ministry of Construction of Korea.It will be shown that the system can extract and reconstruct road segmetns for the various areas of maps sucessfully.
