  • In order to comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard(FMVSS) No. 208 that has been in force since September 2003, an automatic airbag suppression system has become an essential option for detecting and protecting infants and children seated in the front passenger seat of vehicles in the U.S. market. MOBIS has developed the world's first weight-based OCS under the name NWCS. NWCS is composed of two sensors and ECU. It is sub-packaged in order to minimize the seat structure deviation. In this paper, technical features, robustness and performance of NWCS are summarized and discussed.

Effects of Vertical and Lateral Motion on Levitation Magnet System (상하 및 좌우진동이 부상용 전자석 시스템에 미치는영향)

  • Magnet core and rail of a magnetically levitated vehicle are usually made of highly conductive materials. Accordingly, eddy currents are induced in those members. Eddy currents often lead to a decrement of levitation and guidance force. This paper has calculated the decrement of both forces due to eddy current generated by magnet's vertical and lateral motion. U-shaped electromagnet and rail were chosen as amodel of 2D finite element analysis. Calculated results proved that both forces dropped significantly at high speed. Consequently, effects of eddy current should be considered in designing the magnet and control system.

  • The traffic policy of a city in Korea has brought to many traffic problems by putting emphasis on the only side of mobility in the past that the personal transportation was put first in importance more than the public transportation. As the result of this policy, in the process that the traffic policy of large cities in Korea changes into accessibility, it is shown for re-lighting up the development of the public transportation to be going to be able to get many suggestions in searching for the desirable developing direction of the new means of transportation that will arrive at Korea in the future. Especially, compared with the policy of U.S.A. on the traffic plan that has concentrated on the road and the vehicle, and that of Europe that has put first in the walking and the public transportation system, it is considered as an important thing that the lesson is given to us about what is important for the desirable city development. Transportation can be divided into four; a railroad transportation. a road transportation, a marine transportation, and an aerial transportation.

  • This paper proposes a composite fault detection and isolation method by combining the parameter estimation method[1] with the observer-based method[2] to take advantages of both methods. Some properties of the parameter estimation method and the observer-based method are revieved, and the composite algorithm is presented. To exemplify the performance of the method proposed, some simulations applied to remotely piloted vehicle are performed.

  • In this paper, an improved re-adhesion control scheme is proposed for 1C4M railway traction system. It is well known that the coefficient of adhesion between wheel and rail has a maximum value at a certain slip velocity. In the proposed scheme, adhesive effort is estimated by a full-order observer and the driving torque of motor is controlled to get maximum adhesive effort. The-adhesion control simulator is designed to verify the proposed re-adhesion control algorithm. The simulation results and experimental results are presented.

  • In field of Urban transit safely, It must be not only secured vehicle but also every areas like power, signal, communication, track, tunnel, operating facilities. Likewise it is very important not only hardware system like vehicles, facilities but also software system like action of engine driver, duty officer. In other to secure safety of hardware, soft ware, it is very important systemic process. In Korea, Many operating companies neglect to invest in safely and ignore technical development about safety because of management. Safely was considered in subway system and many studies were accomplished about safety in subway system in advanced county like U.K, USA. Hence, in this paper, Conditions and improvement of minimum considerable hardware and software are proposed for safe operation in Urban transit.

  • 본 논문은 차량 내에 설치된 두 대의 CCD 카메라를 이용하여 도로 영상으로부터 주행차선내에 있는 장애물을 인식하는 새로운 알고리즘을 제시한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 주행하는 차선과 관련이 있는 차선 정보만을 이용하여, 스테레오 영상에서 변이도를 추출할 수 있는 변이도 함수인 DLI(Disparity of lane-related information)를 정의하였다. DLI는 선행 차량과 같은 장애물은 주위보다 상대적으로 큰 에지값을 가진다는 특성을 이용하여, 주행차선 내에 있는 장애물의 유무를 검출하고 위치를 유추한다. 제안된 방법은 특징점의 탐색공간을 현저히 줄여 실시간 처리문제를 해결한 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 DLI를 이용한 선행차량 인식기법의 성능을 검증하기 위하여 다양한 환경의 도로영상에 알고리즘을 적용하여 제안한 방법의 우수함을 확인하였다.

Estimating the Effect of Freeway Ramp Metering on Safety

  • This paper presents a method evaluating benefits of ramp metering strategies on freeway safety. Based on the traffic and the accident data collected on a 4.2 km (2.6 mile) section of Interstate highway 35-West in Minneapolis, U.S.A., the relationship between traffic variables and safety measures is investigated. An aggregate specification that could be used to predict accident frequencies on freeways is proposed as a multiple regression form. The specification includes 15 minutes volume and occupancy data, which are commonly available from surveillance and control systems. The primary variables that appear to affect the frequencies of freeway accident are: vehicle-miles of travel, entrance ramp volumes and the dynamic effect of queue building. A simulation method evaluating the dynamic effect of control strategies on safety is proposed next. The potential benefits of freeway ramp metering on freeway safety are finally investigated via a proposed method.

  • In this paper, the design concept of the transport of defense equipment and processes were established. And the transport of large radar equipment design were investigated. Detailed design of moving equipment with reference to the U.S. military standard was performed.Damping system of the moving equipment by using a simulation designed to predict In order to minimize shock and vibration in the vehicle due to the irregular road surface is transmitted through. Analysis of the damping system was verified using the driving test.

A-GNSS Performance Test in Various Urban Environments by Using a Commercial Low Cost GNSS Receiver and Service

  • The recent emergence of new Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) has resulted in a gradual improvement in the performance of positioning services. This paper verifies the degree of improvement in positioning performance of Assisted-GNSS (A-GNSS) receivers using assistance information compared to standalone-GNSS receivers that do not use assistance information in various urban environments in Korea. For this purpose, field tests are performed in various urban and indoor environments in Korea. The assistance information is provided by u-blox's AssistNow Online and low-cost commercial receivers are used for mobile station receivers. Through experiments, the Time to First Fix (TTFF), acquisition sensitivity, and position accuracy performance improvement are analyzed. The results of the experiments show that using assistance data improved the performance in all experiment locations, and, in particular, a significant performance improvement in terms of TTFF.
