  • The purpose of this study was to compare the retention and fitness of crown treated with various desensitizing agents on natural teeth. Varnish, dentin primer, bonding agent and potassium oxalate treated groups and control group with no treatment were used. The retention test was executed with the Instron test machine(Instron Co.,U.S.A.) on 24 hours after cementation with zinc phosphate cement. After retention test, the teeth and crowns were washed and recemented. The cemented crowns were embedded in clear resin and sectioned with a diamond saw. The occlusal and marginal fitnesses, were measured indirectly with a stereomicroscopic photographs. The result of this study were obtained as follows : 1. The retention of control group was higher than any other desensitizing agent treated group. 2. The differences of retention among varnish, dentin primer, bonding agent and potassium oxalate treated groups were not statistically significant. 3. There were no statistically significant difference in fitness at occlusal surface and margin among control, varnish, dentin primer, bonding agent and potassium oxalate treated groups. According to these results, desensitizing agents used to protect the pulp from irritation of luting agents may adversely affect the retention of castings. Therefore, desensitizing agents should be used in limited areas carefully.

  • Turbulence properties of a cylinder wake (d=10 mm) have been investigated with a new volume PTV algorithm. The measurement system consists of two-high-cameras(1 $k{\times}1$ k), a Nd-Yag laser and a host computer. A fitness function representing three-dimensional coherency has been adopted to sort out spurious vectors. A hybrid fitness function representing the relations between the fitness and the three-dimensional shortest distances constructed by the two collinears of the two cameras has been also adopted. The constructed algorithm has been employed for the measurements of the cylinder wakes. The Reynolds numbers tested in this paper are 360, 540, 720, 900, 1080 and 1260. More than 10,000 instantaneous 3D vectors have been obtained by the constructed system. The volumetric distributions of the turbulence intensities (for u', v', w') indicate that clearly different patterns for all Reynolds numbers and imply that a regular pattern (like a similarity rule) for the turbulent properties exists.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of exercise program for prevention of falling on physical fitness, posture and fall prevention self-efficacy for elderly women. 30 females above the age of 65 were subjects for this study. Over an twelve week period, 14women in the experimental group performed exercise 2 times a week for 60 minutes per session. 16women in the control group didn't participate in the exercise program. The independent variable was a exercise program for prevention of falling. Dependent variables were physical fitness, posture and fall prevention self-efficacy. Prevention of falling exercise program is consisted of an elastic band using exercise and Korean dance movement exercise. Physical fitness consisted of grip strength, upper and lower body endurance, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, balance, coordination. The posture was measured the static posture when standing, using a high-resolution camera, body style to automatically measure the distance and angle(M-zen, Korea). Posture was measured in both the coronal and sagittal plane via reference board. Fall prevention self-efficacy was measured via questionnaire using the Korea Falls Self-Efficacy Scale (FES-K). The physical fitness, posture and fall prevention self-efficacy were measured twice with pre and post exercise, and the difference between groups with Wilcox signed rank test, and the group-specific post verification was carried out with U-validated methods (Mann Whitney U test). Statistical significance level was verified by setting the p<.05. Lower body endurance, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, balance and coordination significantly increased in the experimental group. The control group was no significant increase in physical fitness variables. shoulder slope angle, pelvic slope angle(coronal/sagittal), leg length difference, scapular inferior angle and left/right calcaneus angle significantly decreased in the experimental group. Both the experimental group and control group were no significant increase in fall prevention self efficacy. The prevention of falling exercise program for elderly women indicated the positive changes in physical fitness(except grip strength) and posture(except upper body slope). However, there are no significant differences of falling prevention self-efficacy between the both group. Thus, the prevention of falling exercise program for the elderly has been proved that it is highly efficient on improving physical fitness and posture proofreading. However, we still need to consider supplement exercise for grip strength and upper body slope.

  • Modern society is deepening people's interest in healthy life. Therefore, the development of research and service related to health is proceeding. In the IT field, healthcare systems using information in the medical field are being developed. Most systems utilize PC and smart TV or use smart phones to provide users with information and movement-related information in the healthcare field. However, algorithms and systems that accurately analyze user 's body information are in development stage. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a system that provides information to the user by analyzing the BMI (Body Mass Index) index and BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) of the user. The information provided to the user suggests appropriate exercise intensity, appropriate level of exercise, and fitness equipment that are appropriate for the user's body, unlike conventional fitness systems that detect motion and show the calories consumed. In addition, the user can perform efficient exercise based on the recommended information.
