The purpose of this study is to figure out the relationship between the residence stories in high-rise condominium and residents' disease patterns throughout the dweller's medical reports. Research basic data are obtained from medical fee request of National Health Insurance Corporation. Data are limited to 'A' high-rise condominium and a medical treatment time to 3 years (2004. 1-2006, 12). Data for analysis are composed of total 346,286 medical records, 43,159 disease records, and 8,999 personal records. Data are stored by sex, age, building story, residence story, visiting year and month, treatment days, main disease type (KCD-4). Treatment number, disease type and asthma in disease records and personal records are statistically analyzed by residence story considering age. Findings are as follows: 1) Women have more medical treatments than men, 40-50 age group is more treated, and the residents of 6-25 stories are more received medical treatments. According to KCD-4, diseases of the respiratory system and diseases of the eye and adnexa are relatively treated higher than other diseases. 2) The diseases of he respiratory system, the eye and adnexa, the skin and subcutaneous issue, the ear and mastoid process, and the asthma have not relation to the high-storied residence through the data of disease records and personal records. But the analysis on the data of children, age 7 and less, showed a significant relation. to conclude, there is no relationship between the residence of high-stories in the condominium and residents' disease patterns, but there is a little probable to the relationship in the pre-school child.
This study was conducted to examine dietary behaviors according to residence status and ethnicity of university students in Yanbian, China. For the subjects, 334 university students (Male=141, Female=193) answered a questionnaire about perception of weight control, dietary patterns, health habits, residence status, and ethnicity. Perception of weight, meal frequency, favorite kind of food, meal finishing time, skipping breakfast, type of breakfast, snack frequency, late-night snack frequency, exercise frequency, regular life, and sleeping time were all significantly associated with residence status. Motivation of weight control, meal frequency, regularity of meal time, meal volume, favorite kind of food, exercise time, and regular life were all significantly associated with ethnicity. University students who lived with their parents perceived their weight more properly, exhibited a more positive dietary pattern, and lived a more regular life than those students who lived in a dormitory with their friends. Chinese students exhibited a more regular dietary pattern and lived a more regular life than the Korean-Chinese students. As a result, both environmental and inherent factors are related with the dietary behaviors of university students in Yanbian, China. These data could be used to help university students in Yanbian, China attain a healthy diet.
This study was performed to compare dietary behaviors based on residence types of female college students. Self reports on dietary behavior and one-day dietary records were obtained from 227 female college students using anonymous questionnaires. The mean age of the subjects was $20.4{\pm}1.43$, and the height and weight were $162.5{\pm}4.8cm$ and $52.3{\pm}7.9kg$, respectively, The dietary behavior of female college students was inadequate, showing indifference to dietary balance, irregularity of meals, skipping breakfast, and high experience of drinking. One-day dietary records were obtained from 24k recall methods also showed a high number registering skipped meal status ($55.3\%$) and less diverse food intake (DVS, 12.5; DDS, 3.93). The students in self boarding residence were especially more likely not to eat properly and their dietary behaviors were found to be significantly poor. In the case of home residence, food intake frequency scores for milk and dairy products, fruits, and fishes were significantly higher, however the students in self boarding residences showed high food intake frequency scores in salted food, retort food, canned food, and especially instant ramyun. Therefore, more attention needs to be given to them to recognize the problems in their own dietary behaviors and more practical nutritional supports, like developing a menu for breakfast in college cafeterias, would be helpful to improve their dietary choices.
The purposes of this study were to compare financial status of home-based family business with that of ensile family business, and to analyze the factors effected on financial status of both business groups. The sample consisted of 295 home-based family business and 418 ensile family business among self-employed household of 1998 Korea Household Panel Data, and analyzed into Frequencies, Percentile, t-test, $\chi$$^2$-test and Regression. The findings were as follows: First, in case of financial status of household, there was no significant difference between home-based family business and ensile family business. Second, in case of financial status of business, total sales amount and net profit of home-based family business were lower than those of onsite family business, however net profit to total sales ratio of home-based family business was higher than those of onsite family business. Third, the factors contributing to total expenditure to total income ratio of home-based family business were business owner's present economic perception, future economic expectancy and residence, while business owner's age, the number of children and of tamer, and residence were significant variables contributing to same ratio of onsite family business. The factors contributing to total asset to total debt ratio of home-based family business was only business owner's future economic expectancy, however factors affected on the counterpart were business owler's future economic expectancy and job type of family business. Fourth, the variables of sex, age, educational level of family business owner, job type and family type of family business were associated with net profit to total sales ratio of home-based family business, and sex, educational level of family business owner, job type of family business, and the number of employees were related to same ratio of the counterpart. In addition, educational level of family business owner, job type and residence were related with total sales to the number of employees ratio of home-based family business, and educational level of family business owner and job tape of family business were related to same ratio of ensile family business.
The purpose of this study was to understand the weekend couples' type of residence, and to identify the factors to determine their major living place. Specifically, this study dealt with the weekend couples' psychological costs and rewards when they live apart in weekdays. The data were collected from 33 married couples from 2002 June to July about their family life history. The major findings of this study were summarized as follows: 1) the type of living together ; husband living apart on weekdays, wife living apart on weekdays, wife and child living apart on weekdays, living multi-residence. The majority of them were the type of husband living apart on weekdays. 2) children's care and education were an important factor in a couple's decision 3) weekend couples' psychological costs were such as difficulties of children's care, very fatiguing, shortage of time, and emotional isolation. In spite of all these costs, weekend couples still maintain their separate living arrangements during the week. They felt different kind of psychological costs by the type of living together. 4) psychological rewards were professional success, self-fulfillment, plenty of time to use purposely, and weekenders' relationships to their spouses might seem better than before. Socialization of child-care and household-labor are important factors to reduce psychological costs for the all weekend couples.
Odor generated during composting of livestock manure is mainly due to ammonia emission. Biofiltration is a desirable method to control composting odor. This study was conducted to analyze the efficiency of using fresh compost as a biofilter. A mixture of cattle manure and recycled compost was composted in a bin equipped with a suction-type blower. The exhaust gas was filtered through the fresh compost. Residence time was controlled by the flow rate of exhaust gas and the depth of filtering materials. At the aeration rate of 30 L/min(experiment I), ammonia reduction rate varied from 100% to -15% for biofilter A(residence time 56.5 s) and almost 100% for biofilter B(residence time 113 s). At the aeration rate of 30 L/min, the cumulative ammonia reduction rate was 80.5% for biofilter A and 99.9% for biofilter B. At the aeration rate of 50 L/min(experiment II), the lowest reduction rate showed a negative value of -350% on the 8th and 9th day for biofilter A(residence time 33.9 5), and 50% on the loth day for biofilter B(residence time 67.8s). At the aeration rate of 50 L/min, the cumulative ammonia reduction rate was 82.5% fur biofilter A and 97.4% for biofilter B. Filtering efficiency was influenced by residence time. The moisture content(MC) and total nitrogen(T-N) of the filtering material were increased by absorbing moisture and ammonia included in the exhaust gas, while pH was decreased and total carbon(T-C) remained unchanged during the filtering operation.
This study was performed to investigate the dietary habit based on residence types of male college students who registered nutrition course for nonmajor. Self reports on dietary habit and one-day dietary records were obtained from 158 male college students in Chungbuk area. The distribution of residence type of male college student was as follows; self-boarding(43.0%), home(41.1%), boarding with meal(12.7%), and others(3.2%). The mean age of subjects were $22.6{\pm}2.5$, and the mean height and weight were $175.0{\pm}5.6cm\;and\;69.1{\pm}9.3kg$, respectively. The dietary habit of male college students considered to be taken more care of, showing indifference to dietary balance, irregularity of meal, and skipping breakfast. One-day dietary records by 24hr recall methods also showed less diverse food intake(mean DVS, 12.7; mean DDS, 3.92). Especially, the students with self boarding residence were more likely not to eat properly, including indifference to dietary balance, irregularity of meal, skipping breakfast, frequent dining-out, high experience of smoking and drinking, and low DVS and DDS. Also the students with self boarding residence seemed not to make a good choice for food, showing high food intake frequency score in canned food, fast food and instant ramyun, while low score in fruit and fishes. More attention should be taken for self-boarding students to recognize the problems in their own dietary behavior, and more practical suggestion to improve their dietary status would be necessary.
This study examined the dietary life by residence type of 409 university students (198 male and 211 female) in Chungnam They were divided into five groups according their residence: living in the family home a short distance from the university, living in the family home a long distance from the university, boarding house, self-boarding house, and university dormitory. In this study, the intake of food and nutrients and health, and dietary behaviors of each group were investigated through two-week questionnaire. The average age, height, weight, and BMI were 21.4, 175.3 cm, 68.9 kg, 22.3 in males, and 19.9, 162.3 cm, 53.3 kg, 20.2 in females, respectively. Dietary attitude of the students living in home was higher than that of the other student groups. The rate of breakfast intake and the frequency of eating 10 food items of subjects except processed food of self-boarding house group were lower than those of the other 4 student groups. These results suggest that university students of self-boarding house might have low ability of meal management and more reasonable nutrition education is needed for desirable food behaviors.
This study is designed to find out the difference of life satisfaction and depression between urban and rural elderly. The research method is a questionnaire that surveys those aged 60 and older. The collected data were analyzed by categorizing them into two groups, 503 residing in the elderly who live in Daejeon city and 676 in those who live in Chungnam area. The result of analysis indicated that; First, life satisfaction of the urban elderly was higher than that of the rural elderly(t=3.67, p<.001). But depression between the two groups, the elderly who live in urban area and those who live in rural area, did not show a statistically significant difference. Second, the factors influencing the life satisfaction of urban elderly were convenience of housing, economic level, health status, local safety, life attitude, and period of residence. Third, the depression of urban elderly significantly related to health status, life attitude, economic level, age, and convenience of housing. Fourth, the factors influencing the life satisfaction of rural elderly were health status, economic level, convenience of housing, local safety, life attitude, type of residence, and period of residence. Fifth, the depression of rural elderly significantly related to health status, life attitude, and economic level.
This study investigated the differences in college students' attitudes towards, and knowledge of contraceptives. Gender, age group and place of residence were examined to identify variables related to contraceptive use. A total of 388 responses were obtained from college students. The results are as follows: Firstly, significant differences were found in degree of contraceptive knowledge between genders, age groups, and residence types. There was also a significant interaction effect between gender and age. Secondly, there were significant differences of attitudes towards contraception in gender and age and there was also significant interaction effect between residence type and age. Thirdly, college students' contraceptive use could be successfully predicted by gender and attitude towards contraception. Male students who had positive attitudes towards contraception were more likely to use contraceptives. This suggests attitudes towards contraception should be considered when developing contraceptive programs.
