  • We propose new classes of estimators of population mean under non-response using bivariate auxiliary information. Some improved regression (or difference) type estimators have been proposed in four different situations of non response along with their properties and the expressions for the bias and mean square errors of the proposed estimators are derived under double (two-stage) sampling scheme. The properties of the suggested class of estimators are studied and it is observed that the proposed estimators performed better when compared to conventional estimators proposed by Singh and Kumar (Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference, 140, 2536-2550, 2010b), Shabbir and Khan (Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 42, 4127-4145, 2013) and Bhushan and Naqvi (Journal of Statistics and Management Systems, 18, 573-602, 2015). A comparative study is also conducted both theoretically as well as empirically in order to support the results.

  • A stable TSK -type FLC can be designed by the method of Parallel Distributed Compensation (PDC) [2] but in this case, solving the LMI problem is not a trivial task. To overcome such a difficulty, a Time-Delay based FLC (TDFLC) is proposed. TSK -type TDFLC consists of Time-Delay Control (TDC) and Sliding Mode Control (SMC) schemes, which result in a robust controller based upon an integral sliding surface. Finally, simulation study is conducted for a mass-spring-damper system.

  • The Phytophthora infestans requires two mating types for sexual reproduction. Amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) was used to specifically detect different mating types of P. infestans. The AFLP primers E+AA (5'-GACTGCGTACCAATTCAA-3') and M+CAA (5'-GATGAGTCCTGAG-TAAC AA-3') detected a fragment that is specific in the A2 mating type of P. infestans. This fragment was cloned and sequenced. Based on the sequence data, PHYB-1 and PHYB-2 primer were designed to detect the A2 mating type of P. infestans. A single 347 bp segment was observed in the A2 mating type of P. infestans, but not in the A1 mating type of P. infestans or other Phytophthora spp. Identification of mating type was performed with phenotype (sexual reproduction) and genotype (CAPs marker) methods. Two factors, the annealing temperature and template DNA quantity, were investigated to determine the optimal conditions. Using mating type-specific primers, a unique band was obtained within annealing temperatures of 57$^{\circ}C$-62$^{\circ}C$ and DNA levels of 10pg-100 ng (data not shown).

  • The Purpose of this study was to compare the distribution of implant fixtures according to length and diameter between screw-retained and cement-retained implant-supported fixed prosthesis and to asses whether prosthesis retained types affected the selection of size of implant fixtures. This study presents a follow-up 2,416 implant-supported fixed type prosthesis that have been screw retained or cemented retained for about 10 years in 14 dental clinics. Included in the study were 458 men and 397 women and implant fixtures used in this study were screw retained type 1,057 and 1,359 of cemented retained type. The statistical results among the diameter types of fixture by prosthesis retained type was no significant difference noted (P= 0.809) and there was significant differences was enough to among the lengths of fixture by prosthesis retained type (P= 0.020). However there were no significant difference among the fixture diameter types and length by prosthesis retained type (P= 0.486). So there was not affected to prostheis fixation mechanism for the size of implant fixtures.

  • The objectives of this study are to produce level 3 type LULC map and analysis of phenological features of North Korea, ISODATA clustering of the 88scenes of MVC of MODIS NDVI in 2008 and 8scenes in 2009 was carried out. Analysis of phenological phases based mapping method was conducted, In level 2 type map, the confusion matrix was summarized and Kappa coefficient was calculated. Total of 27 typical habitat types that represent the dominant species or vegetation density that cover land surface of North Korea in 2008 were made. The total of 27 classes includes the 17 forest biotopes, 7 different croplands, 2 built up types and one water body. Dormancy phase of winter (${\sigma}^2$ = 0.348) and green up phase in spring (${\sigma}^2$ = 0.347) displays phenological dynamics when much vegetation growth changes take place. Overall accuracy is (851/955) 85.85% and Kappa coefficient is 0.84. Phenological phase based mapping method was possible to minimize classification error when analyzing the inaccessible land of North Korea.

  • Innate immunity is the ability to differentiate infectious agents from self. The innate immune system is comprised of a complicated network of recognition and effector molecules that act together to protect the host in the early stage of an infectious challenge. Mannose-binding lectin (MBL or mannose-binding protein, MBP) belongs to the family of $Ca^{2+}$-dependent lectins (C-type lectin with a collagen-like domain), which are considered an important component of innate immunity. While it is associated with increased risk and severity of infections and autoimmunity, the most frequent immuno-deficiency syndrome was reported to be low MBL level in blood. Deficiency of human MBL is caused by mutations in the coding region of the MBL gene. Rat homologue gene of human MBL gene was used to study functions of wild type and mutant MBL proteins. Although extensive studies have yielded the structural information of MBL, the functions of MBL, especially mutant MBL, still require investigation. We previously reported the cloning of rat wild-type MBL gene and the production of a truncated form of MBL protein and its antibody. Here, we present the cloning of mutant MBL cDNA in collagen-like domain (R40C, G42D, and G45E) using site-directed mutagenesis and differential behaviors of wild type and mutant MBL in cells. The major difference between wild type and mutant MBL was that while wild type MBL was secreted, mutant MBL was inhibited for secretion, retained in endoplasmic reticulum, and still functioned as a lectin.

  • Purpose: This study was formed to propose a theoretical background for improving the quality of women's lives by measuring the subjectivity on women. Method: Q-methodology is used for purpose. Q-statements are collected through in-depth interviews and a literature review. 34 Q-statements were selected. There are 33 subjects in the research. The Q-Factor Analysis using PC Quanl program was performed to analyze the data. Result: There were three types of opinions on woman. The first type(equal-recognitive) thinks that men and women are equal, women can handle men, and women are independent, valuable beings. The second type(equal-fixed idea) express that women are not behind men in terms of abilities but are supposed to live for the sake of their husbands and children. The third type(equal-practical) answer that men and women are equal, but women have their own personalities and can participate in social activities and can financially help the families. Conclusion: The study express the overall opinions and attitudes on woman as reviewed by the research subjects. Therefore, this study helps the seizure of an opportunity to build a theoretical base for improving the quality of women's lives.
