In this study, the two-dimensional generalized finite integral transform(FIT) approach was extended for new accurate thermal buckling analysis of fully clamped orthotropic thin plates. Clamped-clamped beam functions, which can automatically satisfy boundary conditions of the plate and orthogonality as an integral kernel to construct generalized integral transform pairs, are adopted. Through performing the transformation, the governing thermal buckling equation can be directly changed into solving linear algebraic equations, which reduces the complexity of the encountered mathematical problems and provides a more efficient solution. The obtained analytical thermal buckling solutions, including critical temperatures and mode shapes, match well with the finite element method (FEM) results, which verifies the precision and validity of the employed approach.
There are now many theoretical investigations and real manufactures for numerous applications of photonic crystals (PCs) associated with photonic band gap and photonic integrated circuits. However, there are some difficulties to design and fabricate the desired pattern quality. It is not easy to satisfy accurate critical dimension (CD) for patterns with arbitrary shapes and pitch sizes aligned in various directions. In this work, we report the optimum conditions to better fabricate and design, and greatly improve pattern quality in delineating two-dimensional (2D) PCs in the nanometer range using single- step e-beam lithography system with conventional exposure mode.
As distinct from a slender body, the separation of the boundary layer on a bluff body give rise to complex wakes in which various kinds of vortices form, develop and interact with each other. In this paper, we investigate cavitation wake field behind wedge shaped two-dimensional fin models. Eight different models are tested at the Chungnam National University Cavitation Tunnel (CNU-CT). First, we measure wake cavity shapes and compare with numerical results, which shows the good agreement with each other. In addition, we demonstrate that wake flow characteristics of the control fin are clearly identified by the correlation analysis of high-speed camera images and pressure fluctuation measurements.

The shock-free inflow criterion applied in the development of two-dimensional cascade for turbomachinery design. The developed cascade analysis with potential flow calculation through a panel method has been used to determine the shock-free inflow condition. The combination between cascade analysis and PSO (particle swarm optimization) algorithm provides an opportunity to develop a diagram of a two-dimensional parameter cascade at various airfoil shapes. Analytical equations have been derived from the diagram that will facilitate the turbomachinery designer in applying the shock-free inflow criterion on their developed cascade. This method has been used to develop the very low head axial hydraulic turbine and provides excellent results of numerical and actual prototype performances.
In this paper, the characteristics of the coaxial magnetic gear according to the shape of the same gear ratio are analyzed using the two - dimensional finite element analysis. The rotor shape is SMCMG, CPCMG and RCMG. After this we analyzed the characteristics according to three shapes. Also, the amount of permanent magnet used in each shape was compared. Next, characteristics analysis of the magnetic gear according to the shape at the same torque was performed. And the total weight and efficiency of the magnetic gears were compared and verified.
The aerodynamic design of the two-stages of centrifugal compressors in an 1.2MW industrial gas turbine is completed with the application of numerical analyses. The final shape of an intake, the axial guide vanes and a return channel is determined using several interactions between design and two-dimensional turbulent flow analysis, focused on the minimum loss of internal flows. The one-dimensional turbulent flow analysis, focused on the minimum loss of internal flows. The one-dimensional design and prediction of aerodynamic performances for the compressors are performed by two different methods; one is a method with conventional loss models, and the other a method with the two-zone model. The combination methods of the Betzier curves generate three-dimensional geometric shapes of impeller blades which are to be checked with a careful change of aerodynamic blade loadings. The impeller design is finally completed by the applications of three-dimensional compressible turbulent flow solvers, and the effect of minor change of design of the second-stage channel diffuser is also studied. All the aerodynamic design results are soon to the verified by component performance tests of prototype centrifugal compressors.
The technical combination of RP and RT has a potential for rapid manufacturing of three-dimensional parts. In the present work a new RP system, $VLM-_{ST}$, is proposed to manufacture net shapes of 3D prototypes. ㅁ human head shape and a kob shape are manufactured by the $VLM-_{ST}$ apparatus. In addition, a new RT technology, which utilizes a RTV molding technique and a triple reverse process technique, is proposed to manufacture net shapes of 3D plastic parts using prototypes of $VLM-_{ST}$. A plastic part of the knob shape os produced by the proposed RT technology. The combination of the proposed RP and RT enables the manufacturing of a plastic knob within two days.
We investigated theoretically the magnetic field dependence of the quantum optical transition of qusi 2-Dimensional Landau splitting system, in GaN and ZnO. We apply the Quantum Transport theory (QTR) to the system in the confinement of electrons by square well confinement potential. We use the projected Liouville equation method with Equilibrium Average Projection Scheme (EAPS). Through the analysis of this work, we found the increasing properties of the optical Quantum Transition Line Shapes(QTLSs) which show the absorption power and the Quantum Transition Line Widths(QTLWs) with the magnetic-field in GaN and ZnO. We also found that QTLW, ${\gamma}(B)_{total}$ of GaN < ${\gamma}(B)_{total}$ of ZnO in the magnetic field region B < 25 Tesla.
The modified power method has been studied by many researchers to calculate the higher eigenmodes and accelerate the convergence of the fundamental mode. Its application to multidimensional problems may be unstable due to degenerated or near-degenerated eigenmodes. Complex eigenmode solutions are occasionally encountered in such cases, and the shapes of the corresponding eigenvectors may change during the simulation. These issues must be addressed for the successful implementation of the modified power method. Complex components are examined and an approximation method to eliminate the usage of the complex numbers is provided. A technique to fix the eigenvector shapes is also provided. The performance of the methods for dealing with those aforementioned problems is demonstrated with two dimensional one group and three dimensional one group homogeneous diffusion problems.
The present study investigates numerically nonequilibrium energy transfer between electrons and phonons in metal thin films irradiated by ultrashort pulse lasers and it also provides the temporal and spatial variations of electron and phonon temperatures using the well-established two-temperature model(TTM) on the basis of the Boltzmann transport equation(BTE). This article predicts the crater shapes in gold film structures, and compares the results by using two-dimensional energy transport equation. From the results, it is found that nonequilibrium energy transfer between electrons and phonons takes place, and the equilibrium time increases with the increase of laser fluence. On the other hand, above threshold fluence the ablation time doesn't change nearly with increasing fluences. Compared with one-dimensional TTM, it also reveals that the temporal distributions of electron and phonon temperatures at the top surface estimated by using two-dimensional TTM have a similar tendency. The results show that two-dimensional TTM can simulate the crater shape of metals during the irradiation of femtosecond pulse lasers and the absorbed energy is propagated to z-direction faster than to r-direction.
