  • MAGLEV is the vehicle which can run in levitated condition by the electro-magnets, and the vehicle can run without any contact condition. In MAGLEV system achieving a high magnetic field for minimum weight is a noteworthy goal. Unfortunately the two aspects of this goal high field and low weight are contradictory. Suitable designs must be sought using optimization techniques. In this paper is a technique for designing a electro-magnet in terms of simple equation.

  • In a permanent magnet motor, cogging torque arises from the intersection of the rotor magnets with the steel teeth on the stator. This paper describes design measures which can be taken to reduce the cogging torque. In this paper for the optimal shape design of brushless DC motor, evolution strategy is investigated to find the dimension of stator of BLDC motor that minimizes the cogging torque. The corresponding field analysis is performed by two-dimensional finite element method.

  • This paper presents the fabrication of a micro electromagnetic flowmeter for liquid flow rate measurement. The flowmeter consists of a silicon flow channel with two electrodes and two permanent magnets. The micro flow channel and the detection electrodes are fabricated by the anisotropic etching of two silicon substrates and the metal evaporation process respectively. If conductive fluid passes through a magnet field, electromotive force is generated and detected by two electrodes. When the flow rate is 2.6 ml/sec, the measured output voltage is 7.4 mV.

Rf 마그네트론 스퍼터링으로 제조된 퍼멀로이 박막의 자기이방성 조절을 위한 NdFeB 영구자석의 영향 및 자기특성 해석 (Influences of Nd-Fe-B Magnets on the Magnetic Anisotropy Direction of Permalloy Thin Films Fabricated by rf Magnetron Sputtering)

  • 마그네트론 스퍼터링을 이용하여 퍼멀로이 박막의 제조시 요구되는 자기이방성 조절을 위하여 필요한 조건을 NdFeB자석과 3-D전산모사를 이용하여 평가하였으며, 또한 같은 조건에서 제조된 박막의 특성을 조사하였다. 타겟과 기판과의 거리가 5cm인 경우 타겟 자석과 자기이방성 조절을 위하여 장입된 영구자석의 상호 작용에 의하여 기판에 평행한 자속을 얻기 위한 조건이 전산모사 결과 영구자석간의 거리 변화에 매우 민감하였으며, 최적의 조건의 두 영구자석의 간격이 70mm에서 가장 균질한 자속을 대면적에서 얻을 수 있음이 확인되었다. 투입전력 450 W에서 기판에 장착시킨 NdFeB 자석간 거리(48, 60, 70, 80, 85mm) 를 변화시킨 결과 포화자화 값은 10~12 kG, 보자력은 0.2~1 Oe, 비저항은 20 $\mu$$\Omega$cm의 값을 갖는 퍼멀로이가 제조되었으며, 자기적 이방성은 전산모사의 결과와 일치하였다. 그 결과 자석간의 간격이 70mm에서 제조된 두께 1 $\mu$m 퍼말로이의 유효투자율이 10 MHz에서 2500을 유지하는 결과를 얻었다.

  • The electromagnetic suspension system, which is a kind of magnetic levitation, can be categorized into two groups; separate lift & guidance system and combined lift & guidance system. This paper deals with the latter system, in which lift and guidance forces are generated by a pair of staggered magnets with the inverted U- shaped rail. In this work, a rigid body bogie-truck and a twist response type of bogie-truck, which are constructed by two magnetic wheels consist of two staggered magnet pairs, are modeled, and curvature running characteristics of both types obtained by simulation are presented. Simulation result showed that curvature running characteristics of twist response type of bogie-truck is better than that of rigid body bogie-truck.

  • For designing a flywheel system using superconductor, it is necessary to understand the basic characteristics of the classical superconductor bearing. It is difficult to expect the characteristics of superconductor bearings using models that have been introduced up to now. In the "Frozen image" concept, the farce between the permanent magnet and the superconductor can be divided into two forces between permanent magnet and two imaginary magnets in the superconductor; one represents attraction farce and the other represents a repulsion force. We calculated the characteristics of two superconductor bearings, such as an axial, the radial stiffness and the levitation force. This calculation method was very helpful to expect the characteristics of the superconductor bearings. Using this model, we established the optimum condition for the superconductor bearing.r bearing.

  • This paper deals with the torque characteristics of a AFPM motor excited by permanent magnets. According to relative angle difference of two rotor, torque characteristics are studied. According to varied angle of two rotor, torque ripple and, total torque of AFPM motor is different. For minimum torque ripple, angle of two rotor of AFPM motor are investigated. For this study, we used to Maxwell EM 3D program. A prototype AFPM motor have been assembled and driving power supply are made. Characteristics of magnetical and electrical characteristic are investigated.

  • Aiming at a small axial pump with a levitated rotor, an axial-type self-bearing motor is presented, which has a rotor wish four permanent magnets and two stators with two-pole three-phase windings. In this system, only the axial motion of rotor is actively controlled by two opposite self-bearing motors just like in the case of an axial magnetic bearing, while the other motions are passively stable. For rotation, It follows the theory of a four-pole three-phase synchronous motor. This paper Introduces schemes for design and control of the self-bearing motor and shows some experimental results to Prove the feasibility of application for the axial Pump.

Performance Comparison of PM Synchronous and PM Vernier Machines Based on Equal Output Power per Unit Volume

  • This paper compares the performances of permanent-magnet synchronous (PMS) and permanent-magnet vernier (PMV) machines for low-speed and high-torque applications. For comparison with the PMS machines, we consider two types of the PMV machine. The first one has surface-mounted permanent magnets (PMs) on the rotor and the other has PMs inserted on both sides of the stator and rotor. The PMS and PMV machines are designed to meet the condition of equal output power per unit volume. We analyze the magnetic fields of the machines using a two-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA). We then compare their performances in terms of the generated torque characteristics, power factor, loss, and efficiency.

고온초전도 동기 전동기 (High Temperature Superconducting Synchronous Motor)

  • This paper deals with High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) Motor, which have two characteristics: the HTS magnet with iron plates as field coil, and the solid nitrogen $(SN_2)$ as a cryogen. The HTS magnet has iron plates to achieve the maximum current-carrying capacity and the simple shape that can easily be wound and jointed. The HTS magnet with iron plates, magnet optimized current distribution, and initial magnet are presented through 3 Dimensional Finite Element Analysis (3D FEA), manufacturing and testing these magnets. And, it is employed $SN_2$ for keep the operating temperature of HTS synchronous motor. To make the liquid nitrogen $(LN_2)$ of $SN_2$, Gas helium (GHe) passes into the heat exchanger and cools its own temperature. Two types of heat exchangers are designed and manufactured to make the $SN_2$, and each of the temperature characteristics is compared.
