In our previous work, microstructure and magnetic properties of two-phase exchange-coupled $Sm_2Fe_{15}Ga_2C_{x}$/$\alpha$-Fe nanocomposites have been investigated by means of x-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and magnetization measurement. It was found the exchange coupling between the magnetically hard phase $Sm_2Fe_{15}Ga_2C_{x}$ and the magnetically soft one ${\alpha}$-Fe results in an enhancement of the remanence. The sizes of crystallites of both phases are, however much larger than the Block domain-wall width of the magnetically hard phase. This microstructure gives rise to a concave demagnetization curve and consequently reduces the maximum energy Product. In order to improve their magnetic properties, a few Percent of Zr, which may be effective to refine the microstructure through rapid quenching, was introduced into the nanocomposites. The addition of Zr was found to improve the magnetic properties significantly, Under optimum heat-treatment conditions, the remanence, coercivity and maximum energy Product increase from 0.65 T, 0.48 T and 50 kJ/$m^{3}$ for the Zr-free sample to 0.72 T, 0.77 T and 71.6 kJ/$m^{3}$ for the 1 at.% Zr-containing one, respectively, The improvements of magnetic properties are due to the refinement of microstructure by the addition of Zr.

Recently, energy harvesting technologies are considered as the great alternatives to reduce the dependency on secondary batteries. In this paper, we proposed PCB type energy harvester which can be directly integrated with other electronic components on same board. To form the three dimensional coil structure, two PCBs with patterned metal lines are solder bonded. For magnetic induction, inside of coil structure was filled with magnetic substance and rotary motioned external magnets are applied to near the harvester. The effects of metal wire width on PCB, thickness of magnetic substance, and frequency of rotary motion on energy harvesting performance are analyzed by computer simulation and experiments. Experimental results showed 29.89 ${\mu}W$ of power generation performance at the frequency of 5.2 Hz and it is shown that designed harvester can be effectively applied on vibration environment with very limited frequency.

Now a day, owing to high efficiency and easy speed control of brushless DC(BLDC) motor, the demand of BLDC motor that has high power and low noises are increasing. Especially demand of interior permanent magnet(IPM) BLOC with high efficiency and high power in electric motion vehicle is increasing. IPM BLDC motor has permanent magnets in the rotor. Because it has two different flux paths, magnetic reluctance differences are generated in d-axis and q-axis. As the result of the inductance differences that are generated by the saliency(magnetic reluctance differences) in the rotor, the motor has structure advantage that has the additional reluctance torque except a magnet torque and because magnet is situated inside the rotor, the mechanical structure is strong. Therefore IPM BLDC motor makes possible to have high speed and high power. This paper presents a design and characteristics analysis of IPM BLDC motor for electric vehicle. To design IPM BLDC motor, surface mounted permanent magnet(SPM) BLDC motor is used as the initial design model. According to the shape-ratio() of permanent magnet, the characteristic of IPM BLDC motor is analyzed by Finite element method (FEM). Characteristics analysis results of the designed motor are compared with the experimental results.

This paper examines the effect of the magnetization pattern on the partial demagnetization of a permanent magnet (PM) machine that uses a ferrite magnet. Although the use of halbach-magnetized PM (HMPM) arrays in PM machines has been dramatically increasing because of their attractive features, the demagnetization characteristics of HMPM arrays have not yet been examined. In this study, two analyses of the demagnetization characteristics of HMPM arrays and parallel magnetized PMs (PMPMs) are performed, with the demagnetization characteristics being analyzed using a finite element method. According to our results, partial demagnetization occurred dramatically in the HMPM arrays. Thus, it is important to consider the vulnerability of HMPM arrays when designing PM machines.

In this work, the operational deflection shape(ODS) of an automobile exhaust system is measured by using a recently-developed magnetic sensor. The magnetic sensor is composed of a solenoid and two pairs of permanent magnets generating an antisymmetric magnetic field in the lateral direction inside the solenoid. Lateral movement of a ferromagnetic pipe inside the magnetic field of the suggested sensor induces an electromotive force in the solenoid corresponding to the lateral velocity of the pipe. Due to the simplicity and non-contact characteristics of the magnetic sensor, dynamic behaviors of the structures operating under high temperature such as an exhaust pipe can be efficiently observed. It is shown that the lateral ODS of an exhaust system can be successfully measured by the suggested sensors.
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61788-26:2020 provides guidelines for measuring the critical current of Rare-earth barium copper oxide (REBCO) tapes using two methods: linear ramp and step-hold methods. The critical current measurement criterion, 1 or 0.1 μV/cm of electric field from IEC 61788-26 has been normally applied to REBCO coils or magnets. No-insulation (NI) winding technique has many advantages in aspects of electrical and thermal stability and mechanical integrity. However, the leak current from the NI REBCO coil can cause distortion in critical current measurement due to the characteristic resistance which causes the radial current flow paths. In this paper, we simulated the NI REBCO coil by applying both linear ramp and step-hold methods based on a simplified equivalent circuit model. Using the circuit analysis, we analyzed and evaluated both methods. By using the equivalent circuit model, we can evaluate the critical current of the NI REBCO coil, resulting in an estimation error within 0.1%. We also evaluate the accuracy of critical current measurement using both the linear ramp and step-hold methods. The accuracy of the linear ramp method is influenced by the inductive voltage, whereas the accuracy of the step-hold method depends on the duration of the hold-time. An adequate hold time, typically 5 to 10 times the time constant (τ), makes the step-hold method more accurate than the linear ramp method.

A linear engine has advantages in terms of volume and weight, because there are no rotating parts. Thus, it is considered that linear engines might be suitable in hybrid vehicles. However, the linear engine has challenges in terms of the engine ignition timing and efficiency, so the engine has not been commercialized yet. In this study, the dynamic and combustion characteristics of the linear engine might be specified by various loads which are changed by conductance. The engine used in this experiment consists of two combustion chambers, four compressors, two linear alternators and a mover with a piston head and magnets. The way fuel is supplied in the experiment is by propane fuel being mixed with air in the carburetor, then being delivered into combustion cylinders via compressors. In the experiment, conductance is altered from 0.04 to 0.16mho, and the ignition timing is ahead by just 5.0mm from the maximum stroke. As a result of the experiment, frequency, stroke, input calories and maximum pressure are decreased when the conductance is increased. Meanwhile, IMEP, generation efficiency and electric power are increased when the conductance is increased. Therefore, it might confirm that high conductance generates more efficient electric power, but that thermal efficiency is the highest in the state of 0.08mho.
We propose Cubical User Interface(CUI) for toy block composition in Augmented Reality. The creation of new object by composing virtual object is able to construct various AR contents effectively. However, existing GUI method requires learning time or is lacking of intuitiveness between act of user and offered interface. In case of AR interfaces, they mainly have been supported one handed operation and it did not consider composition property well. Therefore, the CUI provide tangible cube as the manipulation tool for virtual toy block composition in AR. The tangible cube which is attached multi-markers, magnets, and buttons supports free rotation, combination, and button input. Also, we propose two kinds of two-handed composing interactions based on CUI. First is Screw Driving(SD) method which is possible to free 3-D positioning and second is Block Assembly(BA) method which support visual guidance and is fast and intuitive. We expected that proposed interface can apply as the authoring system for content such as education, entertainment, Digilogbook.

In this paper, a new modeling of a fine actuator for an optical pick-up has been proposed and multiobjective optimization of the actuator has been performed. The fine actuator is constituted of the bobbin which is supported by wire suspension, the coils which wind around the bobbin, and the magnets which cause the magnetic flux. If current flows in the coils, magnetic force is so produced as to be balanced with spring force of wire, so the bobbin is pisitioned. In this model the transfer function from input voltage to output displacementof bobbin has been obtained so that we can describe this integrated system with electromagnetic and mechanical parts. Wire suspension is regarded as a continuous Euler beam, damper as distributed viscous damping, and bobbin as a rigid body which can move up- and down- ward motion only. According to the model, the high frequency dynamic characteristics of the fine actuator can be known and the effect of damping can be investigated while the conventional second order model cannot. In multiobjective optimization, two objective functions have been chosen to maximize the fundamental frequency and the sensitivity with respect to the input voltage of the actuator so that Pareto's optimal solutions have been obtained using .epsilon.-constraint method. These objective functions will satisfy the trends which will enhance the access speed and reduce the tracking error in the optical pick-up technology of next generation. In the result of optimization, we obtain the designs of the optical pick-up fine actuator which has high speed, high sensitivity and low resonant peak. Furthermore, we offer the relation between two object functions so that the designer can make easy choice.

The field of maxillofacial prosthetics is concerned with the prosthetic reconstruction of missing head and neck tissue. Currently, facial prostheses are usually applied in cases of defects caused by the surgical removal of tumors or congenital defects. While silicone has been most widely used for the reconstruction of missing maxillofacial defects, it does not have ideal physical properties. Therefore, bonding a thin polyurethane sheet to silicone prostheses was recommended. In this case skin adhesives were used for the retention of maxillofacial prostheses. But retention of devices has always been problematic. The contributions of implants can be made to solve these problems. Implants have reduced the need for adhesive use, simplifying cleaning procedures and thus extending the life of the prostheses. For implant-retained prostheses, retentive matrix is necessary to hold attachments and/or magnets. The retentive matrix is usually fabricated with autopolymerizing acrylic resin or visible light- polymerized resin. The purpose of this study was to compare the adhesion-in-peel force of silicone adhesive to autopolymerizing acrylic resin and polyurethane sheet with two different surface textures : pumice polish only or retention groove, and three surface primers : Dow corning 1205 primer or Dow corning S-2260 primer or FactorII A-304 primer, and two polymerization methods : room temperature or dry heat oven. The t-peel bond strength of specimens was determined as described in ASTM Standard D1876-72. The results were statistically analyzed using the ANOVA test, multiple range test and t-test The results were as follows. 1. The t-peel bond strength of A-304 primer was the highest and statistically higher than that of S-2260(p<0.05). 2. The t-peel bond strength of specimens with retention groove was statistically higher than that of specimens polished with pumice(p<0.05). 3. The t-peel bond strength of specimens polymerized in dry heat oven was statistically higher than that of specimens in room temperature(p<0.01).
