Tubular member is hollow and is an excellent source of structural member with great buckling resistance and tortional resistance. With its development and simplicity in structure, steel tubular truss has the ability to be structured in long span bridges, without a stiffener. Recently, it has been used in many countries in Europe, Canada, Japan, and the US with the help of international committees such as CIDECT(International Committee for the Development and Study of Tubular Structures and International Institute of Welding). The most important problem when using the tubular member is the fact that it is difficult to test the fatigue stress determined by nominal stress, since geometrical stress concentration occurs due to the welded joint's nod of complexity. The purpose of this study is to compare and examine current theories and widely applied Hot Spot stress determinations through finite element analysis, which is about welded joints of steel tubular truss. We would like to suggest a way of design practice which involves a bridge plan with rarely domestically used steel tubular truss` basic research data as well as considering the future of tubular member.

The Great Hall of Incheon International Airport Transportation Center has irregular curved roof structure. The structure consists of 13 main steel trusses. (the longest span of 162m, 480ton) The total weight of the truss is 6,300ton and the whole truss is made of 9,600 pieces which has the joint connected to maximum 13 different parts at one point and Roof Truss is supported by 12 Fabric Foundation. Considering the economical efficiency and the schedule, the Sliding Construction Method was used other than conventional erection method. The roof truss structure was divided into two blocks, 3,550ton and 2,700ton, each block was pre-erected on the Giant Sleigh off the site and was pulled 181m by using Tandem Pulling Jack and Strand to be set in place.

Hybrid Truss Bridge (HTB) uses steel truss webs instead of concrete webs in prestressed box girder bridges, which is becoming popular due to its structural benefits such as relatively light self-weight and good aesthetics appearance. Since the core technology of this bridge is the connection system between concrete slabs and steel truss members, several connection systems were proposed and experimentally evaluated. Also, the selected joint system was applied to the real bride design and construction. The research was performed on the connection system, since it can affect the global behavior of this bridge such as flexural and fatigue behaviors as well as the local behavior around the connection region. The evaluation study showed that HTB applied to a curved bridge or an eccentrically loaded bridge had a weak torsional capacity compared to an ordinary PSC box girder bridge due to the open cross-sectional characteristic of HTB. Therefore, three types of girders with different joint system between truss web member and concrete slab were tested for their torsional capacity. In this study, the three different types of HTB girders under torsional loading were simulated using FEM analysis to investigate the torsional behavior of HTB girders more in detail. The results are discussed in detail in the paper.
A macro-element model is developed to account for shear deformation and bond slip of reinforcement bars in the beam-column joint region of reinforced concrete structures. The joint region is idealized by two springs in series, one representing shear deformation and the other representing bond slip. The softened truss model theory is adopted to establish the shear force-shear deformation relationship and to determine the shear capacity of the joint. A detailed model for the bond slip of the reinforcing bars at the beam-column interface is presented. The proposed macro-element model of the joint is validated using available experimental data on beam-column connections representing exterior joints in ductile and nonductile frames.
A simplified analysis procedure utilizing the strut-tie modeling technique is developed to take a close look into the post-elastic deformation capacity of beam-column connections in ductile reinforced concrete frame structures. Particular emphasis is given to the effect of concrete strength decay and quantity and arrangement of joint shear steel. For this a fan-shaped crack pattern is postulated through the joints. A series of hypothetical rigid nodes are assumed through which struts, ties and boundaries are connected to each other. The equilibrium consideration enables all forces in struts, ties and boundaries to be related through the nodes. The boundary condition surrounding the joints is obtained by the mechanism analysis of the frame structures. In order to avoid a complexity from the indeterminacy of the truss model, it is assumed that all shear steel yielded. It is noted from the previous research that the capacity of struts is limited by the principal tensile strain of the joint panel for which the strain of the transverse diagonal is taken. The post-yield deformation of joint steel is taken to be the only source of the joint shear deformation beyond the elastic range. Both deformations are related by the energy consideration. The analysis is then performed by iteration for a given shear strain. The analysis results indicate that concentrating most of the joint steel near the center of the joint along with higher strength concrete may enhance the post-elastic joint performance.

In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Various attempts are being made to converge new industries with IT industry to find new growth engines in the field of IT, maximizing efficiency in terms of productivity. 3D printers are also related to this, and various studies have been conducted worldwide to utilize them in the construction industry. At present, there is an active effort to study atypical structures using 3D printers. The most widely used method is the use of glass panels, however, the additional cost of the manufacturing process and thus the overall project cost cannot be ignored. In addition, the construction of the curvature of the existing two-way curved surface in the conventional flat joint method is not suitable for implementing an amorphous shape. In this paper, we propose an optimized shape through Abaqus analysis of various shapes of Space Truss interior using 3D printing technology using polymer.
This paper focuses on the study of seismic behavior of steel reinforced concrete special-shaped column-beam joints. Six specimens, which are designed according to the principle of strong-member and weak-joint core, are tested under low cyclic reversed load. Key parameters include the steel form in column section and the ratio of column limb height to thickness. The failure mode, load-displacement curves, ductility, stiffness degradations, energy dissipation capacity and shear deformation of joint core of the test subassemblies are analyzed. The results indicate that SRC special-shaped column-beam joints have good seismic behavior. All specimens failed due to the shear failure of the joint core, and the failure degree between the two sides of joint core is similar for the exterior joint but different for the corner joint. Compared to the joints with channel steel truss, the joints with solid web steel skeleton illustrate better ductility and energy dissipation capacity, but the loading capacity and stiffness are roughly close. With the increasing of the ratio of column limb height to thickness, the joints illustrate higher loading capacity and stiffness, better energy dissipation capacity, but worse ductility.

The structural system that discreterized from continuous shells is frequently used to make a large space structures. As well these structures show the unstable phenomena when a load level over the limit load, and snap-through and bifurcation are most well known of it. For the collapse mechanism, rise-span ratio, element stiffness and load mode are main factor, which it give an effect to unstable behavior. In our real situation, most structures have semi-rigid joint that has middle characteristic between pin and rigid joint. So the knowledge of semi-rigid joint is very important problem of stable large space structure. And the instability phenemena of framed space structures show a strong non-linearity and very sensitive behavior according to the joint rigidity For this reason In this study, we are investigating to unstable problem of framed structure with semi-rigidity and to grasp the nonlinear instability behavior that make the fundamental collapse mechanism of the large space frame structures with semi-rigid joint, by proposed the numerical analysis method. Using the incremental stiffness matrix in chapter 2, we study instability of space structures.
The new version of Code for Design of Steel Structures (GB50017-2003) and other design standards in China were released over the last two years. Comparing with the previous version (GBJ17-88), many clauses covering the connection design have been revised. A number of additional provisions are supplemented to specify the design requirements for beam-column moment connections, as well as gusset plates for truss joints. In this paper, a summary on the design rules on connections specified in the current Chinese code is presented, and relevant commentary and background information is provided whenever appropriate. The design criteria governing weld and bolt resistance is examined and reviewed. Moreover, several issues such as detailing requirements for stiffeners and end-plate connections are discussed.

The transportation of a truss-spar hull from a transport barge of 6000 ton topside module on the spar hull is investigated in the present study. Two possible routes from a fabrication yard in Teeside, England to the Gulf of Mexico are considered in the paper. The results of motion responses of the transport barge obtained from a spectral analysis and the limiting criteria of sea fastening, deck wetness and lateral acceleration are compared and the route selection is discussed. Long-crested waves and short-crested seas as well as the joint probabilities of significant wave heights and wave periods in different sea areas are considered. Generally speaking, the results for long-crested seas are higher than those for short-crested waves.
