  • The various studies of combining neural network and hidden Markov models within a single system are done with expectations that it may potentially combine the advantages of both systems. With the influence of these studies, tandem approach was presented to use neural network as the classifier and hidden Markov models as the decoder. In this paper, we applied the trend information of segmental features to tandem architecture and used posterior probabilities, which are the output of neural network, as inputs of recognition system. The experiments are performed on Aurora2 database to examine the potentiality of the trend feature based tandem architecture. The proposed method shows the better results than the baseline system on very low SNR environments.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the trends of nurses' stress based on the last 10 years of international research and to suggest directions for future research. Methods: Fifty three articles between 2002 and 2011 were selected using key words such as 'nurse' and 'stress' from the PubMed and CINAHL. Results: The number of experimental studies increased. The nurses from the various fields were studied. Most studies used a reliable and valid tool for measuring stress of specific nursing staff. The Internet survey was recently used for a data collection method. Significant variables correlated with nurses' stress were categorized into 8 domains: Individual susceptibility, quantitative workload, qualitative workload, physical environment, organizational factors, and interpersonal conflict. Conclusion: In Korea, the next phase of research on nurses' stress needs to consider the experimental study design to find more specific causal relationships. Also, it is necessary to develop the nurses' stress tool for reliable and valid measurement.

  • Most of studies on aircraft accidents have been conducted mainly for fixed-wing aircraft, while the studies on helicopter accidents have been done less even though the helicopter accidents occurred quite more than those of the fixed-wing. There are lots of differences between helicopter and fixed-wing accidents, in aspect of causes and occurrence of accidents as well as aerodynamics and operation. In Korea, helicopter accidents have occurred 2 or 3 times annually since 2000, while the number of fixed-wing aircraft accidents has been reduced considerably. The goal of this study is to solve the present safety problems in helicopter accidents by reviewing the characteristics of past accidents and comparing differences between two types of aircraft.

  • Personality can be understood in terms of cognitive and informational modulation. Augmenting and reducing evoked potential (AREP) has been known as the one of method to test this cognitive characteristic. Especially, many studies have been performed on the relationship between AREP and the Zuckerman Sensation Seeking Scale (SSS) and the Eysenck Personality Questinnaire (EPQ), which are well known as the psychological tests of personality. Generally sensation seekers tend to be augmenters and low sensation seekers tend to the rend to be reducers of EP. However, there are some reports that EP reducers are more extraverted on the EPQ and more sensation-seeking on the SSS than EP augmenters. These results may imply regulatory function of brain can be different depending on brain areas. According to the result of author's studies it can be assumed that frontocentral area works consistently with personality trend whereas right posterior temporal area performs inhibitory regulation against personality trend.

  • Objective: The objective of this study is to examine the characteristics of the research on human vibration in Korea. Background: There have been relatively less interests in vibration than other ergonomic factors in Korea. However, the importance of vibration is increasing as industry and everyday life are more mechanized. Method: This study reports the results of the literature review on the papers about human vibration published in ergonomics-related domestic journals. Results: It was found that more studies have been done on local vibration than on whole body vibration. Diverse topics have been studied in ergonomics community. Conclusion: Further cutting-edge studies are expected than classical safety and health related ones. Application: Some suggestions were proposed hopefully helpful to colleague ergonomists for future research.

  • The goal of this study is to review the major research trend on the convergence studies of AI and healthcare technologies. For the study, 15,260 English articles on AI and healthcare related topics were collected from Scopus for 55 years from 1963, and text mining techniques were conducted. As a result, seven key research topics were defined : "AI for Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS)", "AI for Medical Image", "Internet of Healthcare Things (IoHT)", "Big Data Analytics in Healthcare", "Medical Robotics", "Blockchain in Healthcare", and "Evidence Based Medicine (EBM)". The result of this study can be utilized to set up and develop the appropriate healthcare R&D strategies for the researchers and government. In this study, text mining techniques such as Text Analysis, Frequency Analysis, Topic Modeling on LDA (Latent Dirichlet Allocation), Word Cloud, and Ego Network Analysis were conducted.

  • Trend Impact Analysis is a prominent hybrid method has been used in future studies with a modified surprise- free forecast. It considers experts' perceptions about how future events may change the surprise-free forecast. It is an advanced forecasting tool used in futures studies for identifying, understanding and analyzing the consequences of unprecedented events on future trends. In this paper, we propose an advanced mechanism to generate more justifiable estimates to the probability of occurrence of an unprecedented event as a function of time with different degrees of severity using adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). The key idea of the paper is to enhance the generic process of reasoning with fuzzy logic and neural network by adding the additional step of attributes simulation, as unprecedented events do not occur all of a sudden but rather their occurrence is affected by change in the values of a set of attributes. An ANFIS approach is used to identify the occurrence and severity of an event, depending on the values of its trigger attributes.

  • This study was conducted to analyze the trend of quantitative research regarding female North Korean refugees in order to broaden our understanding of North Korean women and provide directions for future research. In August 2017, the Korean studies Information Service System (KISS) and Nuri Media (DBpia) databases were used to search academic peer reviewed journal articles with the following keywords: "North Korean female", "North Korean female refugees" and "North Korean female defectors". Trend analysis included a content analysis of the study finding section, along with analysis of the general characteristics of the study such as published journals, year of publication, study methodologies, and subject of the study. The main findings are as follows: First, Korean Journal of Woman Psychology was the journal with the most studies on female North Korean refugees. Second, as a result of looking at research trends by year, there was only one study on North Korean female refugees published between 2000 and 2004, and the number started to increase in 2010(8 articles, 22.22%). Third, according to the analysis of research trends by research methods, survey method was most frequently used. Fourth, statistical analysis was most often utilized analysis methodology(34 studies, 94.44%). Fifth, in the content analysis, North Korean female refugees' mental health and emotional issues(17 studies, 47.22%) were the most often the focus of studies being analyzed, followed by social adjustment issues((5 studies, 13.89%). Based on these results, directions for future studies were suggested.
