In this study, to improve the quality of school lunch in local colleges, we conducted a survey on students who attend 2 year colleges in Jeju region. With its own unique regional characteristics and the change of its school lunch program from direct management to consignment, there were some questions about how each factor in school lunch program affects on students' satisfaction with it and we tried to present helpful data to improve school lunch programs in each region. The survey took place from May 5 to May 10, 2005 covering the colleges only in Jeju region. There were 200 sets of questionnaires issued and distributed to the students who are currently using school lunch programs. Only 168 sets were retrieved and processed statistically. 2 sets out of 168 questionnaires had to be thrown away because there were wrong entries of some questions, which made overall retrieving rate 83%. In this study, SPSS 10.0 , one of the statistical package programs, was used as an analyzing tool to make Frequency Analysis. To verify credibility, Cronbach's Alpha Element Analysis was done and T-test and ANOVA was also made. After Recurrence Analysis for elements of satisfaction regarding main factors that is considered to be important to customers, we found that importance of following factors: appearance of food, incongruity between main and side dishes, availability of seasonal food, availability of preferred menu, absence of food stock, waiting time, accessibility of food counters, space between chairs, presentation of a menu, food tray's shape, and color of food trays. The importance of those showed high but satisfaction with the same factors was low. So the primary improvement on these factors should be made to increase satisfaction. Finally we concluded that in large extent, importance of each factor definitely affects on students' satisfaction.
The clothing behavior of male homosexuals were examined. Especially their clothing preference, clothing purchase behavior and clothing symbols as a group took were analysed. The subject was 49 male-homosexuals and the survey was done at the tray bars in Yi-Tae-Won in Seoul. The questionnaire and interview method were broth used to collect the data. The findings from the study were as follows : 1. The casual style was mostly preferred and lightly-fitted style was more preferred than loose style. Both straight type blue jeans and tight-fit style were widely worn by the subject. 2 Among design, price, color, fashion trend and sewing quality. design was the most important factor In clothing purchase. Besides design, color and fashion trend were counted more seriously than price or sowing quality. Blue and black were preferred as clothing colors. 3. Department stores were the most popular shopping place. and then traditional markets and shops near Universities were also preferred. Over 60% of the subjects answered that the decision of clothing purchase was made by himself and 20% of the subject used friend as personal information sources. The score stimuli was the most frequently used information for apparel shopping, and fashion magazines were also used as an important information source. 4. The clothing related symbols used to represent group look were lightly-fitted style. right ear-piercing, tight-fit plaid pants, leather look, rainbow flag, bandannas, reversed triangle. etc. And the subjects thought the symbols were not meaningful as group look because they were already adopted by the non-homosexual people. And they thought that their style of fashion has influenced on that of mass.
A film colored overlay has been used as an assistive device for dyslexics, Recently, several virtual colored overlays which can be used in computer were developed. But existing virtual overlays have some drawbacks which have limited colors and limited control capability over overlapped window by the overlays. Limited colors may prevent optimum color selection and limited control capability can obstruct to transfer keyboard and mouse operation to the overlapped window. In this paper, we implemented an overlay function which controls an overlapped window under the overlay window by using keyboard hooking and tray icon. We propose a method to determine the source color of a virtual overlays by estimating alpha value of alpha blending algorithm through measurement of the chromaticity and transmissivity of film overlays and implemented all colors which we can produce colors by using Intuitive Overlays. Test results of the developed virtual overlay show that all mentioned drawbacks of existing virtual overlays were eliminated. Therefore we can employ a result of WRRT to use the developed overlays.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the status of school foodservice facilities, utilities and equipment & sanitary education in provinces, This study was carried out from September 2008 until December 2008 and is targeted towards schools' dietitians that work at schools with school foodservice. 1,623 schools participated in this research and Kangwondo, Choongchungdo including the metropolitan area with frequent occurrence of food bone disease were the targets of this research. The regional distribution of this research is as follows; 377 schools in Seoul, 648 schools in Gyeonggido, 160 schools in Kangwondo, 438 schools in Choongchungdo equaling 1,623 schools in total. And out of the total 1,623 schools, 815 (50.2%) were elementary schools and 808 (48.8%) were middle and high schools (p < 0.001). Most of the elementary schools, excluding 4 schools, were self-operated. In the case with middle and high schools, 81.5% (513 schools) were self-operated and 18.4% (295 schools) were contracted. When dealing with the sanitation management of school foodservice in Kangwondo and Seoul, elementary schools were less equipped with equipment and facilities than middle and high schools which proved that they were in need of improvements (p < 0.01). Schools with self-operated foodservice, in particular, were in need of preparation zone improvements. 52.3%~88.0% of stainless equipment such as utensils, spoons/chopsticks, subsidiary food tray, and food trays were sterilized by dryers. Work tables, vegetable slicers, and mincers were chemically sterilized and plastic materials were sterilized by ultraviolet rays. To use the agricultural residues as the raw material of molded packaging material, the packaging trays were manufactured from rice-straw pulp. The physical properties were measured to compare non-treated trays with the addition trays, such as the addition of starch, rosin size, carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC), polyethylene glycol(PEG), alkylketene dimer(AKD), polyacryl amide(PAM). The results were as follows : 1. In the addition of starch, air permeability at addition of 5% was highest. Bursting strength and tensile strength were smaller than non-treated trays. 2. In the addition of rosin size, air permeability, bursting strength and tensile strength were smaller than non-treated trays. 3. In the addition of CMC, air permeability was higher than non-treated trays. Bursting strength and tensile strength were similar to non-treated trays. 4. In the addition of PEG, air permeability was higher than non-treated trays. Bursting strength at addition of 3% was the highest and tensile strength was smaller than non-treated trays. 5. In the addition of AKD, air permeability at addition of 1% and 5% was higher than non-treated trays. Bursting strength and tensile strength were smaller than non-treated trays. 6. In the addition of PAM, air permeability at addition of 0.01% was the highest. Tensile strength at addition of 0.01% were higher than non-treated trays. 7. The water absorption of the trays decreased with increasing adding of natural additives.
The objectives of this study were to analyze the factors that affect the productivity for university food services. In a survey involving four-year university dining centers throughout the country, and correlations among thriteen different variables that affect productivity were determined. Productivity index (PI) was determined by meals per hour, the average score for 38 institutions was found to be 14.2 meals/hour. For serving methods, the fixed ration had a higher PI than the self-serving. When two types of serving trays were considered, the PI of the compartmantalized trays was higher than that of the tray accompanying saparate small dishes. When single (S)-or. multiple(M)-menu was compared with the cafeteria style, a higher PI was obtained by the S-or M-menu. Among the three operation systems, the PI was found to be the highest by direct operation (17.6 meals/hour), followed by contract operation (11.1 meals/hour) and rent operation (7.9 meals/hour). For the factors that affect the productivity of the university food services, the total number sewed (r=0.54, p<0.001) and the use of convenient food items (r=0.28, P<0.05) exhibited positive correlations, while food costs and labor costs showed negative correlations. This suggests that the productivity of university food service increases as the total number served and the use of convenient food item increased, but decreases as the food costs and labor costs per meal increased. A regression analysis showed that three variables - total number sewed, labor cost per meal, number of employees-influenced about 73% components of food service showed a negative correlation with PI and a positive correlation with the labor cost per meal.
The purpose of this work is to investigate the effects of picking leaves in autumn on the non-budding and survival of grafting. The results are as follows. 1) The leaf picking in autumn causes an increase of the non-budding ratio in the following spring. When tue whole leaves picking is compared with the control, the non-budding ratio increases 46 percent. In case of tone leaves on a single stem are picked in various tray, the non-budding ratio of picked portion is higher than that of non-picked. 2) The leaf picking in autumn with winter bud being grafted on stock in the next spring, decrease the survival of grafting. In case some leaves on a single stem are picked in various way, the winter bud of picked part is always poor in survival. 3) In the event of leavf picking in autumn, the yield always decreases 7∼20 percent, especially this phenomenon becomes serious in the under half part of the stem(20%) and whole leaves picking(12%) treatments.
Fruits we subjected to complex dynamic stresses in the transportation environment. During a long journey from the production area to markets, there is always some degree of vibration present. Vibration inputs are transmitted from the vehicle through the packaging to the fruit. Inside, these cause sustained bouncing of fruits against each other and container wall. These steady state vibration input may cause serious fruit injury, and this damage is particularly severe whenever the fruit inside the package is free to bounce, and is vibrated at its resonant frequency. The determination of the resonant frequencies of the fruit may help the packaging designer to determine the proper packaging system providing adequate protection for the fruit, and to understand the complex interaction between the components of fruit when they relate to expected transportation vibration inputs. The vibration characteristics of the pears in corrugated fiberboard container in transit were analyzed using FEM (finite element method) modeling, and the FEM modeling approach was first validated by comparing the results obtained from simulation and experiment for the pear in the frequency range 3 to 150 Hz and acceleration level of 0.25 G-rms and it was found that between simulated and measured frequencies of the pears have a relatively good agreement. It was observed that the fruit and vegetables in corrugated fiberboard container could be analyzed by finite element method. As the elastic modulus of the cushion materials of corrugated fiberboard pad and tray cup decreased, the first frequencies of upper and lower pears increased and the peak acceleration decreased.
In mass production of seed-potato plantlets, the processes for in vitro propagation and ex vitro acclimatization with a high cost should be improved by a culture system with environmental control using scaled-up culture vessels. The experiment was conducted to design a hydroponic culture system for enhancement of growth and development of seed-potato (Solanum tuberosum) plantlets cultured under photoautotrophic (without sugar in culture medium) conditions with controlled light intensity and ventilation rate. The culture system was consisted of scaled-up culture vessels, ventilation pipes, a multi-cell tray and an environmental control system (ECS) for optimum controlling in temperature, light intensity, ventilation rate, and culture-medium supply. Growth and development of the plantlets was significantly increased under the ECS compared with a conventional culture system (CCS) of photomixotrophic culture (with sugar in culture medium) using small scale vessels. For 21 days, leaf area of the plantlets was expanded more than 2 times, and number of internodes also approximately 4 times greate. under the ECS. In addition, the photoautotrophic growth in sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas) and chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum morifolium) plantlets was greater more than 2 times compared with the CCS.
This experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of container size and substrate volume on the growth and fruit yield of hydroponically grown cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.) plants. Seeds were sown in plug tray filled with coir dust on Feb. 13, 1998. Seedlings with 5 to 6 true leaves were transplanted in $2{\ell},\;4{\ell},\;6{\ell},\;8{\ell}\;and\;10{\ell}$ plastic pots filled with perlite. Cucumber fruits were harvested with 1 to 2 days interval, and fresh weight, number of normal and malformed fruit were recorded. Plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves and leaf area were highly depended on the container size. Total fresh weight and the number of fruit were increased with increasing container size. NAR(net assimilation rate) and CGR(crop growth rate) increased also with increasing the container size. Optimum container size for hydroponically grown cucumber plant using perlite was recommended as $8{\ell}$ per plant.
