NOTE ON SPECTRUM OF LINEAR DIFFERENTIAL OPERATORS WITH PERIODIC COEFFICIENTS

  • In this paper, by rigorous calculations, we consider $L^2({\mathbb{R}})-spectrum$ of linear differential operators with periodic coefficients. These operators are usually seen in linearization of nonlinear partial differential equations about spatially periodic traveling wave solutions. Here, by using the solution operator obtained from Floquet theory, we prove rigorously that $L^2({\mathbb{R}})-spectrum$ of the linear operator is determined by the eigenvalues of Floquet matrix.

  • GaAs Schottky 접촉 전송선을 전극으로 하는 진행파형 광변조기의 특성이 분석되었다. 초고주파의 전파특성은 quasi-TEM 모델에 의해 분석되었으며, 고유치 방법과 유효 굴절율법을 결합하여 광파의 전파특성을 분석하였다. 또한 이를 통해 Schottky 접촉 전송선 및 광도파로의 기하학적 변수에 따라 진행파형 광변조기의 성능지수를 계산함으로써 최적 설계조건을 계산하였다.

  • In this paper the driving characteristic for a traveling-wave type ultrasonic motor is described. For driving of ultrasonic motor, a two-phase resonant inverter and Digital IC was made. The driving circuit simulation results are compared with measured frequencis and amplitudes.

  • We investigate global bifurcation in the motion of an harmonically excited circular plate with one-to-one internal resonance. A perturbation method developed by Kovacic and Wiggins is used. Silnikov type homoclinic orbit has been pursued but it has turned out not to exist.

Assessment of the Effect of Probabilistic Modeling of Sea-States in Fatigue Damage Calculations

  • Spectral fatigue damage calculations has been performed on four ships in order to assess the effect that the probabilistic modeling of sea states has on the estimated fatigue life. The damage estimation method is based on the Miner- Palmgren fatigue damage formulation and a spectral approach is used to determine the necessary variances of the stress processes. Both the horizontal and vertical hull girder bending induced stress process together with the local water pressure induced stress process is taken into account. The wave scatter diagrams are applied in the calculations and their fatigue severity is assessed by analyzing the results obtained with the ten scatter diagrams and the four ships. All four ships are analyzed both in full load and ballast conditions and while traveling at both full and reduced speed. It is found that the fatigue severity of a wave scatter diagram is dependent on several parameters, some of these being the extreme wave hight extrapolated from the scatter diagram and the mean zero up-crossing period in conjunction with the ship length . Based on these three parameters and expression is derived in order to calculate one single number describing the fatigue severity of a scatter diagram with respect to a certain ship.

  • When a train enters into a tunnel, a compression wave is generated by a front nose and a expansion wave is generated by a rear nose each other. Because the compression wave and expansion wave have interactions with the train in a tunnel repeatedly, the internal pressure of the train is dramatically varied. And this pressure variation gives passengers discomfort like ear-ache. In this paper, we had measured the internal pressure variation of TTX developed and being on Test-Running in Honam line and made an analysis of pressure variation rate. As a result, the internal pressure variation was different as to the length of tunnel. Though the entering velocity of TTX is similar on test tunnels, on the short tunnel, the pressure drop was lower then that of the long tunnel. And it was expected that the rates of internal pressure variation would be exceeded the limits on 160km/h entering velocity.

한반도 전리층에서의 전파 전파연구 (A STUDY ON THE RADIO PROPAGATION IN THE KOREAN IONOSPHERE)

  • 전파 전파에 있어서 전리층의 영향은 산란, 감쇄, 각오차, 위치오차, 및 시간 지연등이다. 적당한 전리층 조건 아래서 하전입자는 전파로 부터 에너지르 뺏어 전파 감쇄의 원인이 되게 한다. 또한 전자밀도가 균일하지 않은 경로를 따라 전파가 전파되는 경우, 전파 방향, 위치, 전파 시간등에 변화가 생기게 된다. 본 논문에서는 1985년 1월 부터 1989년 10월까지 전파연구소에서 관측된 국내 전리층 관측자료를 토대로 Chapman법칙에 따른 전리층 모델을 정립 하였으며, 이로부터 전파 전파에 있어서 각 오차, 위치 오차, 시간 지연, 및 감쇄등을 주파수와 위성의 고도에 따라 고찰하여 보았다.

A Review on the Effects of Earthborne Vibrations and the Mitigation Measures

  • Earthborne vibrations are induced by construction operation such as pile driving, roadbed compaction, and blasting and also by transit activities such as truck and trains. The earthborne vibration creates the stress waves traveling outward from the source and can structurally damage nearby buildings and structures in the forms of direct damage to structure and damage due to dynamic settlement. The wave propagation characteristics depends on impact or vibration energy, distance from the source, and soil characteristics. The aim of this paper is to provide a comprehensive review on the mechanistic of earthborne vibration and the current practice of vibration control and mitigation measures. The paper describes the state of knowledge in the areas of: (1) mechanics of earthborne vibration, (2) damage mechanism by earthborne vibration, (3) calculation, prediction of ground vibration, (4) the criteria of vibration limits, (5) vibration mitigation measures and their performance, and (6) the current practice of vibration control and mitigation measures.

지중송전계통에서 Wavelet 변환과 퍼지추론을 이용한 고장종류판별 및 고장점 추정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fault Discrimination and Location Algorithm in Underground Transmission Systems Using Wavelet Transform and Fuzzy Inference)

  • The underground transmission lines is continuously expanded in power systems. Therefore the fault of underground transmission lines are increased every year because of the complication of systems. However the studies dealing with fault location in the case of the underground transmission lines are rarely reported except for few papers using traveling wave method and calculating underground cable impedance. This paper describes the algorithm using fuzzy system and travelling wave method in the underground transmission line. Fuzzy inference is used for fault discrimination. To organize fuzzy algorithm, it is important to select target data reflecting various underground transmission line transient states. These data are made of voltage and average of RMS value on zero sequence current within one cycle after fault occurrence. Travelling wave based on wavelet transform is used for fault location. In this paper, a variety of underground transmission line transient states are simulated by EMTP/ATPDraw and Matlab. The input which is used to fault location algorithm are Detail 1(D1) coefficients of differential current. D1 coefficients are obtained by wavelet transform. As a result of applying the fuzzy inference and travelling wave based on wavelet transform, fault discrimination is correctly distinguished within 1/2 cycle after fault occurrence and fault location is comparatively correct.

  • Recently, the introduction of Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) has been attempted to solve the limitation of only the sensor of the vehicle itself. For example, vehicles traveling at intersections can drive more safely through C-ITS. By using V2X communication of WAVE and LTE, the driver can receive the status and time of traffic lights. However, LTE has a larger transmission delay time than WAVE, so timimg data may not match in real time. In this paper, using the SPaT message, it was confirmed that LTE has a larger C-ITS service transmission delay time than WAVE. Finally, it was confirmed that the timing data of SPaT provided by LTE corrected by the algorithm is similar to SPaT provided by WAVE. It was confirmed that safer intersection driving is possible based on real-time.
