Qos enhancement algorithm of CBR HDTV transport packet stream on AAL5

  • We propose the dejittering method against the jitter originated from the cell losses in ATM network when CBR traffic is transfereed on AAL5. Cell numbering algong with maintaining a timer at receier side introduces 0.669 times peak-to-peak PDV of the AAL5 PDU to that in ITU-T AAL5 standard, and the AAL5 user-HDTV decoder-receives the same or more error-free transport packets in the proposed algorithm than those in the ITU-T AAL5 standard for the same network simulation environment.

  • The unanimous of adoption of the intergovernmental agreement on the Asian Highway network by 32 member countries was a significant event and the Asian Highway project has entered into a new phase with a giant momentum. In an era of globalization, the availability of transport linkages and services is a prerequistite for countries to fully participate in the globalizing economy. The Asian Highway is one of initiatives of ESCAP to promote international transport in the region. With a total coverage of over 140,000kilometers, the asian highway network will be playing a vital role in bringing peoples together through both trade and travel.

Estimations of modal shift from maritime and air transport to surface transport between China and South Korea : focusing on China's three northeast provinces. (한중간 해상에서 육상으로 화물운송전환수요의 추정 : 동북 3성 지역을 중심으로)

  • This study is based on the assumption of surface transport linkages between Korea and China. Active economic cooperation between South Korea and North Korea are expected within the near future and Russia and China have interested in the land transport linkages in Korean peninsula. How much freight demands between the two countries that has been mainly dependent on air and sea transportation so far may convert the transport mode to surface transportation are estimated. Particularly, freight demands between South Korea and China's three northeast provinces are focused. The sensitivity analysis depends on transport time and transport cost changes is included. The modal shifts is estimated to be more sensitive to the changes in transport costs than those in transport time, suggesting the importance of transport costs of rail and road. Despite the dearth of data on the surface transport operation in North Korea, the attempts made in this study to estimate the demand conversion are hope to provide reference points for potential effects of the rail and road transport connections between China and the Korea peninsula before our discussions expand to the establishment of freight transport network of the northest Asia and, moreover, the Eurasian continent.

  • In this paper, optimal parameters of a hopping pilot beacon are analyzed in a CDMA mobile cellular network. The hopping pilot beacon is used for inter-frequency handoff. It can reduce the number of pilot beacons needed for the inter-frequency handoff by transmitting neighbor frequency pilots periodically through a pilot beacon. The optimal parameters for transmission time and period of the hopping pilot bacon are derived by mathematical approach. It is highly recommended that the optimal values for the hopping pilot beacon under various operation environments.

  • The acceleration noise is valuable index to monitor traffic stability. However, the previous study was performed for the acceleration noise of individual vehicle. The consideration of the acceleration noise for vehicle in the network has not been studied yet. This paper proposes a new macroscopic traffic flow monitoring method based on applying network acceleration noise.

  • The unsaturated zone is a significant pathway of the surface contaminant movement and is a highly heterogeneous medium. Therefore, there are limitations in applying conventional convection-dispersion equation(CDE). Artificial neural network(ANN) is considered to be a versatile tool for approximating complex functions. For evaluating the applicability of ANN, numerical tests using ANN were conducted with training set generated by HYDRUS-2D which is based on CDE. The results represent that ANN can estimate the solute transport and the choice of network parameters and generation of training set patterns are important for efficient estimation.

  • For Binary CDMA network, communication can be accomplished only within a Pico-net on the boundary of management by the master station because it manages network resources of each entity. In this research, we try to overcome these limits and extend the application for Binary CDMA system to broad-band network. We suggest a new Binary CDMA router such that network is devised by cell unit and multiple Pico-net and a unique address is assigned to each Pico-cell to relaying data between Pico-cells.

  • Wireless sensor network-related application system can perform functions such as environmental pollution monitoring, building control, home automation in future. In this paper, we present wireless sensor network based system for subway station in order to reduce the damage of the people and the subway station due to fire. Sensor nodes in this system can sense temperature, illumination, smoke, and human body in real time and detect the accident in the subway station. These real-time sensing and wireless networking minimize casualties and damage to property.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient network communication scheme tailored to the network virtual reality(NVR) system. We first present the architecture and implementation of CVRAT (collaborative virtual reality authoring tool). The design goal of CVRAT is to provide consistent and scalable shared virtual environments. To achieve this goal, we classify the network messages according to their reliability and latency requirements. These conflicting requirements lead us to conceive a heterogeneous communication scheme which provides the unicast and three different multicast transport services; unreliable multicast, receiver-driven reliable multicast, fast reliable multicast. Each protocol has trade-offs in reliability, latency and bandwidth usage. The characteristics are analyzed by several experiments. Finally, applying this communication method to multi-participant battle-field tank simulation, we show the efficacy of proposed heterogeneous transport mechanism.

  • After analyzing network of the region of western sea, which is the center of Circle Yellow-Sea economic region, and Circle Bo-Hai and the delta of a long river economic region, which are belong to three major economic region of China, as an efficient strategy, rail & sea multi-transport system of Korea-China joint SOC strategy is suggested. Rail & Sea multi-transport system, which is the links of railroads and shipping transport, can be subdivided into train-ferry, which is the transport of loaded trains into a vessel, and transshipment, which is transshipment of containers from railroads to vessels. And, the way of railroads transport through a tunnel under the sea is also suggested.
