  • The purpose of this study is to realize the real time monitoring ECG telemetry system applied by the telemetry unit, in which transmission is made through the electronic wave and reception is made through the light, and by the wavelet algorithm as well. A light receiver via existing telemetry unit which is based on baseband, the reception length was 50cm, but when the frequency modulation is used, the reception length is extended to 3m. In addition to this, we have found that the full-duplex method of transmission became available by using dual-mechanism.

  • Minimal line length enables low-cost construction of the transmission lines and low-loss transportation of electric power. This paper presents a derivation to determine the coordinate and length of the straight line that minimally connects two perpendicular lines x-axis and y-axis via a specific point, using the optimization technique. The author shows a formula to obtain the minimal length, which is represented by the cube root of the coordinate given by the specific point. Case studies have been also discussed to prove the optimal solutions derived by the proposed formula.

  • This paper analyzes transmissiondelays of a message and a packet in a time-varying and packet-based radio link. The paper assumes that thearrivals of messages have a Bernoulli process and the lengths of the messages a exponential distribution. To reflect the feature of the time-varying radio link, we use a two-state Markov model. From the model the mean transmission delay of and the mean queue length of the packet are analyzed in terms of the packet distribution function, the packet transmission service time, and the PER of the radio link. And the mean message transmission delay time and the mean queue length are derived using the performance indices of the packet. Numerical results show that the message arrival rate and the message length have some bounds to keep the transmission of the message steady and to improve the performance indices of the message. It can be known that the PER of the state influences on the performance indices more than the sojourn time of the state.

  • The state of channel between two or more wireless terminals is changed frequently due to noise or multiple environmental conditions in wireless network. In this paper, we analyze packet transmission time and queue length in a time-varying channel of packet based Wireless Networks. To reflect the feature of the time-varying channel, we model the channel as two-state Markov model and three-state Markov model Which are transformed to SFG(Signal Flow Graph) model, and then the distribution of the packet transmission can be modeled as Gaussian distribution. If the packet is arrived with Poisson distribution, then the packet transmission system is modeled as M/G/1. The average transmission time and the average queue length are analyzed in the time-varying channel, and are verified with some simulations.

  • This study was performed to investigate the effects of enhanced light transmission on plant growth, photosynthetic ability, and disease tolerance to leaf blight, anthracnose in ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer, Araliacease family) during the early growth stage (April to June). The photosynthetic ratio, stomatal conductance, and stem diameter of plants grown under a shade net with 15% light transmission rate showed an increasing trend compared to the control plants (5% light transmission rate) although the growth of the aerial parts were not influenced significantly. Plant height, stem length, and leaf length of treated plants were not significantly different from those of the control plants. Root parameters, such as root length, diameter, and weight of treated plants increased significantly compared to the control. Yield performance ($187.4kg{\cdot}10a^{-1}$) of treated plants was 55.5% higher than that of the control ($150.4kg{\cdot}10a^{-1}$). Additionally, disease severity scores of treated plants were lower than those of the control plants, revealing higher survival rates. To retain high yield potential and enhance the level of disease tolerance in ginseng, we suggest the increase of light transmission rate during the early growth stage.

  • We present the analysis of phase-shifted fiber Bragg gratings by coupled-mode equations. The transmission is expressed as that of a Fabry-Perot resonator with complex reflectance and complex transmittance. The transmission spectrum, the effective cavity length, and the behaviors with different phase-shifts are investigated. A very flattered transmission peak is obtained by introducing three phase-shifts in a grating.

  • This paper deals with the implementation of forced reclosing the transmission line. Because the ground circuit breaker method decrease the secondary arc current sufficiently, the reclosing time can be reduced. As the secondary arc current is large and its residual time is long in UHV transmission line, this method is more effective in that system. The resistance of ground circuit breaker which minimize the secondary arc current is determined according to the system voltage and the length of transmission line.

  • In single mode fiber optic transmission systems(FOT's) operated at high modulation rates over long fiber spans, chromatic dispersion can produce distortion in the demodulated waveforms, resulting in intersymbol interference(ISI) in the received signal and a reduction of transmission system performance. In this paper, chromatic dispersion limitations for intensity modulation and direct detection(IM-DD) systems are studied by considering the effect of phase modulation to amplitude modulation (PM-AM) conversion noise. Laser phase noise conversion to amplitude noise due to fiber chromatic dispersion is analyzed by deriving the noise power spectral density. We first derive the noise power spectral density of the laser phase noise to intensity noise conver- sion. Next, also evaluate the system power penalty and the transmitter laser linewidth required to avoid PM-AM conversion noise penalties in long-haul nonregenerative transmission system using an external modulator and optical amplifiers. For such system with optical amplifiers, transmission sys- tem length is limited due to fiber chromatic dispersion, even if an ideal external modulator is used.

  • The present study has been performed to see the intrafamilial transmission of periodontopathic organism Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans in Koreans having various froms of periodontal diseases. 17 clinical isolates from 8 periodontal patients and 20m clinical isolates from their 8 family members were grown anaerobically for the serotyping and the extraction of genomic DNA. The DNA was digested with restriction endonucleases (EcoRI+HindIII) and plasmid pAA 2097(kindly provided by Dr. DiRienzo, Univ. of Pennsylvania) including 4.7kb-size randlomly clone probe for restriction length pleomorphism analysis(RFLP). RFLP patterns of reference serotypes a, b, c, d, and e were used as the genotypes A, B, C, D, and E, respectively for comparison of genotypes of clinical isolates. 28 out of total 37 clinical isoltes belonged to either one of 5 basic gentotypes and 9 remaining isolats did not fall into any types, and hence were designate as non-type(NT). Genotype C were the most frequently found one(35.1%) and genotype B has not isolated. Intrafamilial transmission of bacteria between spouses, brothers and sisters, and parents and their offsprings, resepctively could well be demonstrated by comparing RFLP patterns. There were not any specific genotypes which showed predominance over others in terms of transmission.

  • Tosin backplane system design of this study (Backplane) from the HSTL (High-Speed Transceiver Logic) characteristics of the transmit and receive data using the HSPICE simulations and the actual implementation on the FPGA Data transmission characteristics were described by comparing the simulation results. Simulation and measurement criteria for point to point data transmission characteristics of wire length possible to send and receive data about the speed limits were reviewed. Measured point to point connection to send and receive signals at terminal velocity, the factors that affect the electrical noise around the wire length and showed a very important role.
