  • We consider a fuzzy semigroup S in a right (or left) reductive semigroup X such that $S(k)=1$ for some $k{\in}X$ and find a faithful representation (or anti-representation) of S by transformations of S. Also we show that a fuzzy semigroup S in a weakly reductive semigroup X such that $S(k)=1$ for some $k{\in}X$ is isomorphic to the semigroup consisting of all pairs of inner right and left translations of S and that S can be embedded into the semigroup consisting of all pairs of linked right and left translations of S with the property that S is an ideal of the semigroup.

  • A new method in robot path generation is presented using an analysis of the characteristics of multi-robot collision avoidance. The research is based on the concept of the collision map, where the collision between two robots is presented by a collision region and a crossing curve TLVSTC (traveled length versus servo time curve). Analytic collision avoidance is considered by translating the collision region in the collision map. The 4 different translations of collision regions correspond to the 4 parallel movements of the actual original robot path in the real world. This analysis is applied to path modifications where the analysis of collision characteristics is crucial and the resultant path for collision avoidance is generated. Also, the correlations between the translations of the collision region and robot paths are clarified by analyzing the collision/non-collision areas. The influence of the changes of robot velocity is investigated analytically in view of collision avoidance as an example.

  • In order to approximate a nonlinear function, wacelet neural networks combining wacelet theory and neural networks have been proposed as an alternative to conventional multi-layered neural networks. wacelet neural networks provide better approximating performance than conventional neural networks. In this paper, an effective method to construct an optimal wavelet neural network is proposed using genetic alogorithm. Genetic Algorithm is used to determine dilationa and translations of wavelet basic functions of wavelet neural networks. Then, these determined dilations dilations and translations, wavelet neural networks are funther trained by back propagation learning algorithm. The effectiveness of the final network is verified thrifigh the approximation result of a nonlinear function and comparison with conventional neural networks.

  • Translation has attained an important role in transmission and maintenance of human culture. As the world gets closer translation is regarded as one of the most useful means to carry knowledge and information through the language barrier. Translations of literary works in particular have been regarded as one of the most valuable means of helping people to understand and cooperate with one another in the interest of world peace. Korea has maintained a very close relationship with the United States of America since she first opened her door to the States in 1882. No one can deny that American has had a strong influence on Korean culture, politics, economics and education through the long close relationship between two countries. This study has been carried to find out how many and what American literary works have been introduced into Korea through translation from 1882 to 1982.

  • We show that if a finite group G acts freely with homotopically trivial translations on a 3-dimensional nilmanifold 𝓝p with the first homology ℤ2 ⊕ ℤp, then either G is cyclic or there exist finite nonabelian groups acting freely on 𝓝p which yield orbit manifolds homeomorphic to 𝓝/𝜋3 or 𝓝/𝜋4.

  • This paper aims to analyze the influences of the socio-cultural environment on discourse in translation. To illustrate a deep connection between discourses and societies in which they were produced, communicative patterns of high- and low-context cultures are examined. Though the original version of the translated text comes from a different culture, the translation reflects communicative preferences of the target culture. To uncover some of these preferences, a comparative study of two translations from Russian into English and from English into Russian is conducted. This study, together with further investigation of some more recent translations into Russian, revealed a number of choices affected by translators' cultural background (for example, making the translation more emotionally charged) and current ideological preferences in the society (excessive use of anglicisms).

  • Unani medicine has been used extensively as preventive and therapeutic healthcare in India. It mostly utilizes herbal drugs for the treatment of various conditions and ailments. It is based upon the humoural and temperament theory of Buqrat (Hippocrates). Unani medicine is one of the oldest traditional system rooted within the Greek, Iranian, Arabic, and Islamic medical knowledge and has developed as a scientific healthcare system. It is highly practiced and popular in certain parts of the world, and the World Heritage Centre, part of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the United Nations Foundation list it as an authentic and still-living form of traditional medicine. But in the past, its survival required utmost efforts from different dynasties, scholars and organization around the world. The efforts of promotion, preservation, translation, upgradation and publication of medical knowledge has crucially given new life to Unani medicine in each era. This letter will enlighten the efforts of translations of medical knowledge in Unani medicine from its arising need in the past till present.

  • Let n be a fixed natural number. Menger algebras of rank n can be regarded as a canonical generalization of arbitrary semigroups. This paper is concerned with studying algebraic properties of Menger algebras of rank n by first defining a special class of full n-place functions, the so-called a left translation, which possess necessary and sufficient conditions for an (n + 1)-groupoid to be a Menger algebra of rank n. The isomorphism parts begin with introducing the concept of homomorphisms, and congruences in Menger algebras of rank n. These lead us to establish a quotient structure consisting a nonempty set factored by such congruences together with an operation defined on its equivalence classes. Finally, the fundamental homomorphism theorem and isomorphism theorems for Menger algebras of rank n are given. As a consequence, our results are significant in the study of algebraic theoretical Menger algebras of rank n. Furthermore, we extend the usual notions of ordinary semigroups in a natural way.

  • We have proposed an ontology-based translation mashup system for foreigner to enjoy Korean cultural information without any language barrier(linguistic problem). In order to utilize public information, we use a mobile public information open API of Seoul metropolitan city. Google AJAX language API is used for translations of public information. We apply an ontology to minimize errors caused by the translations. For ontology modeling, we analyze the public information domain and define classes, relations and properties of cultural vocabulary ontology. We generate ontology instances for titles, places and sponsors which are the most frequently occurring translation errors. We compare the accuracy of translations through our experiment. Through the experimental results using the proposed ontology-based translation mashup system, we verify the validity of the system.

  • Using multi-sensor or multi-temporal high resolution satellite images together is essential for efficient applications in remote sensing area. The purpose of this paper is to estimate geometric difference of translations between high-resolution optical and SAR images automatically. The geometric and radiometric pre-processing steps were fulfilled to calculate the similarity between optical and SAR images by using Mutual Information method. The coarsest-level pyramid images of each sensor constructed by gaussian pyramid method were generated to estimate the initial translation difference of the x, y directions for calculation efficiency. The precise geometric difference of translations was able to be estimated by applying this method from coarsest-level pyramid image to original image in order. Yet even when considered only translation between optical and SAR images, the proposed method showed RMSE lower than 5m in all study sites.
