The complexity of the papermaking system accelerates interactions between a large number of variables involved. The process operation, therefore, is subject to frequent perturbations by disturbance. Dynamic modelling is a useful tool for characterizing the transient behavior and selecting the best control strategies to reject disturbances. In this study we developed a dynamic simulation model of a fine paper production process, which consists of stock preparation, wire sections, white water circulations, and broke system. It focused on dynamic simulation in its role for developing control strategies and studying control loop dynamics related to filler loading for ash control. The results emphasized the importance of filler-loading position and length of control loop for rapid ash control and process stabilization.
Design of structures subjected to blast loads are usually carried out through nonlinear inelastic dynamic analysis followed by imposing acceptance criteria specified in design codes. In addition to comprehensive aspects of inelastic dynamic analyses, particularly in analysis and design of structures subjected to transient loads, they inherently suffer from convergence and computational cost problems. In this research, a strategy is proposed for design of steel moment resisting frames under far range blast loads. This strategy is inspired from performance based seismic design concepts, which is here developed to blast design. For this purpose, an algorithm is presented to calculate the capacity modification factors of frame members in order to simplify design of these structures subjected to blast loading. The present method provides a simplified design procedure in which the linear dynamic analysis is preformed, instead of the time-consuming nonlinear dynamic analysis. Nonlinear and linear analyses are accomplished in order to establish this design procedure, and consequently the final design procedure is proposed as a strategy requiring only linear structural analysis, while acceptance criteria of nonlinear analysis is implicitly satisfied.

Dynamic behaviors of the impact damper are studied experimentally and numerically. In order to investigate wide range of excitation frequencies and amplitudes, a simple but high amplifying and bias-free experimental setup is designed. Experiments focused on the harsh operation condition demonstrate Accelerated mass loading which not only deteriorates the performance of the impact damper but also involves the structural resonance which should be avoided for the stability of the system. In the previous studies, instability or deterioration of the performance was reported for the off resonance frequency region. But this paper shows that the performance deterioration and structural resonances can be predicted. Using finite element modeling and analysis, accurate system parameters were derived and used for the numerical modeling employing the conservation of the momentum. Numerical study of the transient responses using 4th-order Runge-Kutta method demonstrates general performance of the system, and shows that accelerated mass loading phenomenon is deeply related with the vibration amplitudes and the mass of the auxiliary system.

To measure of thermal loading in the combustion chamber of hydrogen engine with dual injection, instantaneous wall-surface temperature and unsteady heat flux of the cylinder head are measured and analyzed. The maximum wall surface temperature is shown in direct injection region which has large heat supplied. Partial and spatial temperatures have slight deviation in transient region of injection, though injection method change suddenly. All of thermal characteristics such as instantaneous temperature, temperature swing and heat flux of hydrogen engine with dual injection are remarkably higher than those of gasoline engine. It means necessity of additional countermeasure of thermal loading.
Concrete has been recognized as a material which is resistant to high temperatures, but chemicophysical property of concrete is changed by the high temperature. So, mechanical properties of concrete may be reduced. Because of this, standards and researches on the degradation of the mechanical properties of concrete at high temperatures have been presented. However, research data about the state that considering the loading condition and high-strength concrete is not much. Therefore, this study evaluated the high-temperature properties of high-strength concrete by loading condition and elevated temperature. The stress-strain, strain at peak stress, compressive strength, elastic modulus, thermal strain and the transient creep are evaluated under the non-loading and $0.25f_{cu}$ loading conditions on high strength concrete of W/B 12.5%, 14.5% and 20%. Result of the experiment, decrease in compressive strength due to high temperature becomes larger as the compressive strength increases, and residual rate of elastic modulus and compressive strength is high by the shrinkage caused by loading and thermal expansion due to high temperature are offset from each other, at a temperature above $500^{\circ}C$.

The methodology to calculate loads on the bearings of the gas-turbine engine is presented for design of high-speed bearing. Firstly, the loads on the bearings are formulated according to the force and moment equilibrium with gyroscopic moment in three-dimensional space. Afterward, operating loading conditions of the engine are presented by applying the Joint Service Specification Guide, and magnitudes of transient and steady bearing loads are estimated based on the operating conditions. The calculated loading conditions of the bearings will be used for the essential design boundaries for the detail structural design and rig test.
Recently, a load/unload(L/UL) system is adopted to the hard disk drive(HDD) due to its advantages such as lower power consumption, larger data zone, simpler fabrication of disk due to no bumped parking zone, and rarer contact between slider and media. An analysis of the transient motion for the slider is very important to design an air bearing surface(ABS) of the slider to secure the stable performance of the system. During the L/UL process, however, there are several issues occurred such as contact or collision between slider and media. Sometimes this will cause the system failure. In this study, the dynamics of a pico slider during the loading process are investigated through numerical simulation using FEM analysis and experiment. Ramp profile and angular velocity of the swing arm actuator are very important parameters for the design of L/UL system to avoid collision between slider and disk.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of loaded vertical jumps on the following vertical jumps and to find how long the transient effect of warm-ups would continue. Methods : Twelve healthy college male students, majoring in physical education, participated in this study voluntarily. They performed three sets of unloaded jumps (pre-jump, 5% post jump, and 10% post jump) and two sets of loaded jumps (5% and 10% loaded jumps) according to the counter-balanced order. At each set, three trials of maximal vertical jumps were performed by a 30 second interval between trials and a 3 minute break after warm-up jumps. Force platform and motion capturing system were used to record motions and ground reaction force. Results : Only 5% post-warm-up jumps ($48.29{\pm}2.06cm$) showed significant increase in the jump height compared with pre-warm-up jumps ($47.35{\pm}2.21cm$). The transient effects of loaded warm-ups disappeared 4 minutes after loaded jumps. Conclusion : Conclusively, a decent amount of loading (around 5% extra of body weight) during sport specific warm-ups would give a positive, transient effect on the performance of the vertical jump.
This paper deals with a control technique of eliminating the transient vibration of a geared mechanical system. This technique is based on a model-based control with a rotational speed sensor in order to establish the damping effect at the driven machine part. A rotational speed sensor is installed in a driven gear, namely a bull gear. A control model is composed of a reduced-order mechanical part expressed as a transfer function between the rotational speed of the motor and that of the bull gear. This control model estimates a load speed after the rotational speed of the bull gear is acted on the transfer function. The difference between the estimated load speed and the motor speed is calculated dynamically and it is added to the velocity command to suppress the transient vibration generated at the load. This control technique is applied to a dies driving spindle of a form rolling machine. In this paper, the performance of this control method is examined by simulations. The settling time of the residual vibration generated at the loading inertia can be shortened down to about 1/2 of the uncompensated vibration level.

The SSWM(Software Switching Mechanism) of I-processor concept using non-real time in-house software simulation program is an effective method in order to develop the flight control law in desktop or HQS environment. And, this system has some advantages compare to HSWM(Hardware Switching Mechanism) such as remove the time delay effectiveness and reduce the costs of development. But, if this system loading to the OFP(Operational Flight Program), the OFP guarantee the enough throughput in order to calculate the two control law at once. Therefore, the HSWM(Hardware Switching Mechanism) of 2-processor concept is necessary. This paper addresses the concept of HSWM of the HQS-PC interface using TCP/IP(Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) communication based on flight control law of advanced supersonic trainer. And, the fader logic of TFS(Transient Free Switch) and stand-by mode of reset '0' type are designed in order to reduce the abrupt transient response and minimize the integrator effect in pitch axis. The result of the analysis based on HQS pilot simulation using HSWM reveals that the flight control systems are switching between two computers without any problem.
