  • A projection-based active information display system was proposed. The proposed system is based on Intelligent Space and a steerable projector mounted mobile robot which is called Ubiquitous Display (UD). In order to transfer visual information for a human in the Intelligent Space, the UD projects a certain shape of an image with a fixed size. Due to redundancy of degree of freedom (DOF), there are lots of situations to project a same shape and size of the image on a surface. In this paper, we describe a method to determine a goal posture of the UD. Here, the goal posture is the most efficient position and orientation of the UD so as to project visual information and it is determined by the Intelligent Space. To verify the proposed method, simulation and demonstration are carried out.

  • The authors apply the transfer influence coefficient method to the 3-dimensional vibration analysis of beam with multi-joints and formulate a general algorithm to analysis the longitudinal, flexural and torsional coupled free vibration. In this paper, the structure, which is mainly founded in the robot arms, cranes and so on, has some crooked parts, subsystems and joints but has no closed loop in this system. It is modeled as the beam of a distributed mass system with massless translational, rotational and torsional springs in each node, and joint elements of release or roll at which node the displacement vector is discontinuous. The superiorty of the present method to the transfer matrix method in the computation accuracy was confirmed by the numerical computation results. Moreover, we confirmed that boundary and intermediate conditions could ve controlled by varying the values o the spring constants.

  • Introduction: Surgical robot is the alternative instrument that substitutes the difficult and precise surgical operation; should have intuitiveness operationally to transfer natural motions. There are limitations of hand motion derived from contacting mechanical handle in the surgical robot master interface such as mechanical singularity, isotropy, coupling problems. In this paper, we will confirm and verify the feasibility of intuitive Non-restraint master interface which tracking the hand motion using infra-red camera and only 3 reflective markers without the hardware handle for the surgical robot master interface. Materials & methods: We configured S/W and H/W system; arranged 6 infra-red cameras and attached 3 reflective markers on hands for measuring 3 dimensional coordinate then we find the 7 motions of grasp, yaw, pitch, roll, px, py, pz. And we connected Virtual-Master to the slave surgical robot(Laparobot) and observed the feasibility. To verify the result of motion, we compare the result of Non-restraint master and that of clinometer (and protractor) through measuring 0~180 degree, 10degree interval, 1000 samples and recorded standard deviation stands for error rate of the value. Results: We confirmed that the average angle values of Non-restraint master interface is accurately corresponds to the result of clinometer (and protractor) and have low error rates during motion. Investigation & Conclusion: In this paper, we confirmed the feasibility and accuracy of 3D Non-restraint master interface that can offer the intuitive motion of non-contact hardware handle. As a result, we can expect the high intuitiveness, dexterousness of surgical robot.

  • Recently, robotic automation in clinical laboratory becomes of keen interest as a fusion of bio and robotic technology. In this paper, we present a new robotic platform for clinical tests suitable for small or medium sized laboratories using mobile robots. The mobile robot called Mobile Agent is designed as transfer system of blood samples, reagents, microplates, and any instruments. Also, the developed mobile agent can perform diverse tests simultaneously based on its cooperative and distributed ability. The driving circuits for the mobile agent are embedded in the robot, and each mobile agent communicates with other agents by using Bluetooth communication. The RFID system is used to recognize patient information. Also, the magnetic hall sensor is embedded to remove and compensate the cumulated error of locomotion at the bottom of mobile agent. The proposed mobile agent can be easily used for various applications because it is designed to be compatible with general software development tools. The Mobile agents are manufactured, and feasibility of the robot and localization of the agents using magnetic hall sensor are validated by preliminary experiments.

  • In the near future, military robots are likely to be substituted for military personnel in the field of battle. The power system of a legged robot is considerably more complex than the one used for a land vehicle because of the coordination and stability issues due to the large number of degree of freedom. In this paper, a servovalve-piston combination system for a straight-line motion of robot leg is modeled as three degree of freedom based on double inputs and single output transfer function. The output is the displacement of piston from neutral. The inputs are valve displacement from neutral and arbitrary load force in this system. LQR(Linear Quadratic Regulator) technique is applied in order to achieve robust stability and fast responses of the system. The Kalman filter loop, rejection of disturbance and noise, riccati equation, filter gain matrix, and frequency domain equality are analyzed and designed.

The recording packet drop whose UDP degree error ratio will be high is frequent and does not arrive packet little by little increases is a possibility of knowing in the transmission unit. The technique which it proposes with traffic pattern of the transmission unit is visible the transfer characteristic of the same shape from 1% packet error ratio degree. The effective transmission technique of the robot control data which puts a base in UDP protocols was proposed from the present paper. • The Automation and Control Group at the University of Brasilia is developing an automatic welding station based on an industrial robot and a controllable welding machine. Several techniques were applied in order to improve the quality of the welding joints. This paper deals with the implementation of a laser-based computer vision system to guide the robotic manipulator during the welding process. Currently the robot is taught to follow a prescribed trajectory which is recorded a repeated over and over relying on the repeatability specification from the robot manufacturer. The objective of the computer vision system is monitoring the actual trajectory followed by the welding torch and to evaluate deviations from the desired trajectory. The position errors then being transfer to a control algorithm in order to actuate the robotic manipulator and cancel the trajectory errors. The computer vision systems consists of a CCD camera attached to the welding torch, a laser emitting diode circuit, a PC computer-based frame grabber card, and a computer vision algorithm. The laser circuit establishes a sharp luminous reference line which images are captured through the video camera. The raw image data is then digitized and stored in the frame grabber card for further processing using specifically written algorithms. These image-processing algorithms give the actual welding path, the relative position between the pieces and the required corrections. Two case studies are considered: the first is the joining of two flat metal pieces; and the second is concerned with joining a cylindrical-shape piece to a flat surface. An implementation of this computer vision system using parallel computer processing is being studied.

  • In this study, we compare thermal performance between four different types of cold plates for humanoid robot cooling. Two commercially available cold plates made of copper have different dimensions and internal flow paths: One has $20{\times}20$ $mm^2$ base area with micro-channels and the other has $62.5{\times}62.5$ $mm^2$ base area with 85 round pin-fins. And two different types of cold plates of $20{\times}20$ $mm^2$ base area with 7 mm high are made of PC (polycarbonate), which aims to reduce the weight of cooling system. All cold plates are mounted on a $20{\times}20$ $mm^2$ copper block with two cartridge heaters of 30 $W/cm^2$. The overall heat transfer coefficient and thermal resistances for the liquid-cooled cold plates are obtained. The copper cold plate with micro-channels showed the best performance. Polycarbonate cold plates display fairly good thermal performance with more reduced system weight.
