  • This paper presents a game theory application for analyzing power transactions and market design in a deregulated energy marketplace such as PoolCo. The conventional least-cost approaches for the generation resource schedule can not exactly handle recent real-world situations. A systematic tool using game theory for the market participants is presented such that it determines the net profits through the optimal bidding strategies including the strategies for the bidding prices and bidding generations. We treat this power transaction game as incomplete information one, which means each market participants does not know other's cost function. And the demand elasticity of the energy price is considered for the realistic modeling of the deregulated marketplace.

  • There are two methods of quantifying the damages when the contract is avoided. One is 'concret' assessment, the other is 'abstract' assessment. The former looks to the actual cost incurred by the aggrieved party in concluding a contract for the substitute transaction, while the latter is based on the market price. The concrete method of assessment forms the starting point in the Civil Law systems. In the Common Law systems, it is likewise available. The aggrieved party is entitled to recover the difference between the cost of cover or (as the case may be) the proceeds of resale and the contract price. Both systems also recognize the abstract method of assessment. If the aggrieved party does not resell or cover, damages are equal to the difference between the price fixed by the contract and the market price. The CISG and the UNIDROIT Principles recognize expressly both concrete and abstract methods. Under the relevant articles, the aggrieved party can recover the damages assessed by one of the methods as well as any further damages such as loss of profit, incidental and consequential damages.

  • This paper addresses the bidding strategies of generating firms in a competitive market where the firms are provided with payment for generating reactive power. Reactive support for voltage control is an integral and critical part of power system operations. Since reactive support is unbundled in a competitive market under open access transmission, it is treated as one of ancillary services. The operation costs and opportunity costs for reactive support are compensated by payment to the firms, hence their bidding strategies will be affected. The opportunity costs are evaluated from the foregone profits of a generator in making sales in real power market by providing reactive support instead of real power. Game theory approach is used to analysis the transaction strategies of real power by the bimatrix method in this paper. Through computing the Nash equilibrium in a sample system, an incentive of a generator for improving the reactive generating capacity is found to be effective and the variations of the profits are analyzed as the demand power factor changes.

  • As the construction of renewable energy generators is on the rise and gets bigger in size, researchers pay more and more attention to the impact of such facilities on the power market as well as on the stability of power grid system. In Korea, while studies on the latter, including calculating the marginal capacity of renewable energy generators, is being made, those on the former has not yet been performed. As such, this paper analyses the impact of a big renewable energy generators on the price and transaction cost of domestic power market and proposes ideas to minimize such influence by applying the technology of forecasting renewable energy.

  • According to the Bank Profitabilities Statistics of OECD members, Our domestic banks applying commissions for both exchange and selling/buying foreign currencies are evaluated as much higher than those of other countries banks. The theory indicates an analysis results and comparison in between banks over the world. Our domestic bank assert that, in general, the aggregated banking commission income is lower than those of other countries by comparing in the field of non-interests profits. Viewing by another analysis in details, some commission rate applying to domestic services are far below than cost basis, but other commission rate applying to foreign currency transaction services is abnormally higher. Such unfair rate should be lowered to the similar level to other banks in the world and also the actual cost should be reasonably reevaluated in the reasonable manner. One more thing, The writer suggest that domestic banks should spend efforts to increase their income by improving and diversifying with the various type of new commissions applied to domestic market, such as multi-functional financial services, expanding ATM services, electronic settling technique etc under today's rapidly changing and opening world financial market.

  • The finite element method (FEM) is typically used in the process of motor design. However, the FEM requires computation time, Therefore, decreasing the number of FEM simulations may also decrease the simulation cost. Several optimal design methods overcoming this problem have been recently studied. This paper investigates the optimal design of the magnet pole of a BLDC motor through reducing simulation cost. The optimization minimizes the magnet volume and limits the average and cogging torques to certain values. In this paper, the response surface methodology and Taguchi's table for reducing the number of FEM simulations are used to approximate two constraints. The optimization result shows that the presented strategy is satisfactorily performed.

  • The present study presents the Phasor Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization (PDPSO) algorithm, an effective optimization technique, the multi-dimensional vectors of which consist of magnitudes and phase angles. PDPSO is employed in the configuration of micro-grids. Micro-grids are concepts of distribution system that directly unifies customers and distributed generations (DGs). Micro-grids could supply electric power to customers and conduct power transaction via a power market by operating economic dispatch of diverse cost functions through several DGs. If a large number of micro-grids exist in one distribution system, the algorithm needs to adjust the configuration of numerous micro-grids in order to supply electric power with minimum generation cost for all customers under the distribution system.

  • The objective of this paper is to provide a comparison between the Line Start Permanent Magnet, Skeleton type Brushless DC, and the Snail-cam type Switched Reluctance Motor. These motors are compared under the same load characteristic as the cooling fan motor of a refrigerator. The comparison consists of speed, output power, efficiency, copper loss, and cost for three different motors. For the given application, the results provide an indication of the best machine suited with respect to performance and cost.

  • This paper examines the problems of database partitioning and file allocation in a fixed topology distributed computer network. The design objective is to make files as collections of attributes and to allocate these files to network nodes so that a minimum total transmission cost is achieved subject to storage capacity constraints. A mathematical model for solving the problem is formulated and, the resulting optimization problem is shown to fall in a class of NP-complete problems. A new heuristic algorithm is developed which uses the idea of allocating attributes according to the transaction requirements at each computer node and then making files using the allocated attributes. Numerical results indicate that the heuristic algorithm yields practicable low cost solutions in comparison with the existing methods which deal with the file allocation problems and database partitioning problems independently.

  • In this study, it was analyzed that it is necessary to clarify the quality certification parts system, to make certification codes mandatory for self-certification products that are normally distributed, and to conduct follow-up management so that prompt action and thorough management of test reports are necessary in case of defects. Big data-based data, the detailed number of parts replacement cases, parts cost by part group, share, average labor cost, calculated to analyze the detailed automobile parts industry, and automobile parts certification system and automobile parts market in major countries including Korea and Through the distribution structure analysis, improvement plans for the automobile quality certification parts system were derived.
