A trajectory analysis program was developed using a 3 DOF model to analyze KSLV-II performance with the reducing weight. The program estimates the injection performance on the SSO orbit, which is determined as payload weight for the orbit, with various vehicle structural ratios. The KSLV-II can transport 2.58 ton to the target orbit with a reduced structural ratio similar to the Angara rockets.
This paper treats the estimation of human impedance and their application to collaboration work robot. Initially, we performa an experiment at whcich teh human becomes a slave and the robot behaves like a master having F/T sensor on its end. the human impedance expressed interms of mass, damping, and stiffness properties are estimated based on the force data measured by F/T sensor and the positiion data of the robot. To show the effectiveness of the estimated human impedance, we perform the second experiment at which the roles of the human and the robot are reversed. It is shown that the robot using the estimated human impedance follows the trajectory commanded by human very smoothly.

This paper is concerned with a computational method for recovering a crack shape of steam generator tubes of nuclear plants. Problems on the shape identification are discussed arising in the characterization of a structural defect in a conductor using data of eddy current inspection. A surface defect on the generator tube ran be detected as a probe impedance trajectory by scanning a pancake type coil. First, a mathematical model of the inspection process is derived from the Maxwell's equation. Second, the input and output relation is given by the approximate model by virtue of the hybrid use of the finite element and boundary element method. In that model, the crack shape is characterized by the unknown coefficients of the B-spline function which approximates the crack shape geometry. Finally, a parameter estimation technique is proposed for recovering the crack shape using data from the probe coil. The computational experiments were successfully tested with the laboratory data.

In the re-entry control system, errors apt to induce because the time derivative of drag acceleration is analytically estimated. Still more, the difficulty of estimation of the exact drag coefficient in hypersonic velocity and the nun-reality of the scale height cause a steady-state drag error. This paper proposes the additional method of the disturbance observer. This reduces the steady-state drag error according to the following series. First, this method estimates a error in drag acceleration time derivative by the analytic calculation and then creates the new drag acceleration time derivative using the estimated error. The performance of the re-entry control system is verified about 32 reference trajectories.

Separating a reentry vehicle into warhead and body is a conventional and efficient means of producing a huge decoy and increasing the kinetic energy of the warhead. This procedure causes the radar to track the body, whose radar cross section is larger, and ignore the warhead, which is the most important part of the reentry vehicle. However, the procedure is difficult to perform using standard tracking criteria. This study presents a novel tracking algorithm by integrating input estimation and modified probabilistic data association filter to solve this difficulty in a clear environment. The proposed algorithm with a new defined association probability in this filter provides a good tracking capability for the warhead ignoring the radar cross section. The simulation results indicate that the errors between the estimated and the warhead trajectories are reduced to a small interval in a short time. Therefore, the radar can produce a beam to illuminate to the right area and keep tracking the warhead all the way. In conclusion, this algorithm is worthy of further study and application.

We are developing a novel framework, PRIDE (PRediction In Dynamic Environments), to perform moving object prediction (MOP) for autonomous ground vehicles. The underlying concept is based upon a multi-resolutional, hierarchical approach which incorporates multiple prediction algorithms into a single, unifying framework. The lower levels of the framework utilize estimation-theoretic short-term predictions while the upper levels utilize a probabilistic prediction approach based on situation recognition with an underlying cost model. The estimation-theoretic short-term prediction is via an extended Kalman filter-based algorithm using sensor data to predict the future location of moving objects with an associated confidence measure. The proposed estimation-theoretic approach does not incorporate a priori knowledge such as road networks and traffic signage and assumes uninfluenced constant trajectory and is thus suited for short-term prediction in both on-road and off-road driving. In this article, we analyze the complementary role played by vehicle kinematic models in such short-term prediction of moving objects. In particular, the importance of vehicle process models and their effect on predicting the positions and orientations of moving objects for autonomous ground vehicle navigation are examined. We present results using field data obtained from different autonomous ground vehicles operating in outdoor environments.

In this paper, the states and parameters in a dynamic system are estimated by applying an Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF). The UKF is widely used in various fields such as sensor fusion, trajectory estimation, and learning of Neural Network weights. These estimations are necessary and important in determining the stability of a mobile system, monitoring, and predictions. However, conventional approaches are difficult to estimate based on the experimental data, due to properties of non-linearity and measurement noises. Therefore, in this paper, UKF is applied in estimating the states and parameters needed. An experimental dynamic system has been set up for obtaining data and the experimental data is collected for parameter estimation. The measurement noises are primarily reduced by applying the Low Pass Filter (LPF). Given the simulation results, the estimated error rate is 39 percent more efficient than the results obtained using the Least Square Method (LSM). Secondly, the estimated parameters have an average convergence period of four seconds.

This study describes a fetal heart rate(FHR) estimation algorithm using phonogram. Using a phonogram amplifier, various fetal heart sounds are collected in a university hospital. The FHR estimation algorithms consists of a lowpass filter, decimation, envelop detection, pitch detection, and post-processing. The post-processing is the FHR decision procedure using all informations of fetal heart rates. Using the algorithm and other parameters of fetal heart sound, a fetal monitoring software was developed. This can display the original signals, the FFT spectra, FHR and its trajectory. Even though the fetal phonogram amplifier detects the fetal heart sounds well, the sound quality is not so good as the ultrasonography. In case of very week fetal heart sound, autocorrelation of it showed clear periodicity. But two main peaks in one period is an obstacle in pitch detection and peaks are not so vivid. The proposed FHR estimation algorithm showed very accurate and stable results. Since the developed software displays multiple parameters in real time and has convenient functions, it will be useful for the phonogram-style fetal monitoring device.

This paper presents an adaptive active tracking system with sector based scanning for a single PTZ camera. Dividing sectors on an image reduces the search space to shorten selection time so that the system can cover many targets. Upon the selection of a target, the system estimates the target trajectory to predict the zooming location with a finite amount of time for camera movement. Advanced estimation techniques using probabilistic reason suffer from the unknown object dynamics and the inaccurate estimation compromises the zooming level to prevent tracking failure. The proposed system uses the simple piecewise estimation with a few frames to cope with fast moving objects and/or slow camera movements. The target is tracked in multiple steps and the zooming time for each step is determined by maximizing the zooming level within the expected variation of object velocity and detection. The number of zooming steps is adaptively determined according to target speed. In addition, the iterative estimation of a zooming location with camera movement time compensates for the target prediction error due to the difference between speeds of a target and a camera. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by simulations and real time experiments.
The conventional impedance control has been known to have the following problems: it has lack of specifying force directly and unknown environment stiffness has to be known priori in order to specify the reference trajectory. In this paper, new impedance force control that can control a desired force directly under unknown stiffness is proposed. A new nonlinear impedance function is developed based on estimation of unknown stiffness from force and position measurements. The nonlinear characteristics of the proposed impedance function are analyzed based on unknown environment position. Simulation studies with robot manipulator are carried out to test analytical results.
