  • In this paper, we design new high performance ATM switch architectures based on a Generalized Shuffle network(GSN). The GSN is a distributed network topology with the number of nodes in O(N). To improve the throughput of the switch, a layering strategy called Weaved GSN(WGSN). WGSN has an additional connection links between switching elements which locate in the same position of adjacent GSNs. The analysis and simulation are performed under uniform and full load conditions, and the results show that the proposed switch has better throughput and cell loss performance when compared with other banyan-based switch architectures known so far.

  • Connection management function of the TINA which is developed by TINA-C provides network connection services such as setup modification and release of connections. The connection management function provides these services to network operators to the fault management function that provides backup-path and to the performance management function that provides load-balancing. The connection management function necessarily requires a routing algorithm to set up a new connection. In this paper we propose a new routing algorithm named QTHR (QoS and Traffic parameter based Hierarchical Routing) for TINA based connection management of ATM/B-ISDN network. And we implemented the QTHR and analyzed the performance of the QTHR.

  • MAC state models appeared with an effort to overcome technical demerits of CDMA in provisioning packet data service. In the scenario of sojourn and transition on MAC states, the design of state sojourn time is a critical issue for an efficient utilization of limited recource; a longer sojourn time leads to more resource being preserved for inactive stations, while more connection components should be recovered with a shorter sojourn time. Thus, the sojourn time at each MAC state must be optimized in consideration of these two conflicting arguments. In this paper, we first present a generic MAC state model. Secondly, based on the generic model, we reveal a relation of inactive period and the delay time of the last packet served in pre- ceding active period and specify a loss function reflect-ing two antinomic features that result from a change of state sojourn time. Using the proposed loss function, we construct a decision problem to find an optima3 rule for state sojourn times. Finally, we present a way of computing Bayes rule by use of the posterior distribution of inactivity duration for given observation on the delay time of last packet. Furthermore, Bayes rules are explicitly expressed for special arrival processes and investigated with respect to traffic load and loss parameters.

  • In this case study, the brake line failure of air over hydraulic(AOH) brake system is described. AOH brake system is applied to commercial vehicles between 5 to 8 tons. It consists of a hydraulic system using compressed air and operates the air master to form hydraulic pressure to transfer braking power to the wheels. When the brake lines of the system applied to vehicles with high load capacity are damaged, the braking force of one shaft is lost, and the braking distance increases rapidly, leading to a big accident. Failure of the brake line occurs due to various causes such as road surface fragmentation, corrosion of the line, and aged deterioration of air brake hose. The braking force could be decreased even when a very small break in the form of a pin-hole occurs. However, it is difficult to find a part where the thickness of the line is thin due to stone pecking or corrosion generated in the pin-hole formed on the brake line located under the lower part of the vehicle by the sensory evaluation or the conventional braking force test. Accordingly, it is necessary to analyze the condition and cause of the failure of the brake line more precisely when the accident investigation of the heavy vehicles, and also to examine the necessity of the advanced test for the aged brake line.

  • Recently, ITU-TSS recommends a service specific connection oriented protocol (SSCOP) which assures the successful transmission of signalling information for B-ISDN. In the SSCOP, there is a mechanism to exchange periodically status informations for both error and flow controls. In this paper, we analyze the SSCOP with a discrete-time queueing model. We consider two cases for link-by-link and end-to-end controls. As the performance measures, we investigate delay, throughput, and buffer size of the receiver. The average values of these measures are analyzed with respect to the loss probability of messages, the traffic load, and the exchange period of status information. We also verify the accuracy of this model with simulations.

  • In this paper, we measured voice packet loss over the Korean Internet and analyzed percentage articulation by variation of the packet loss. To do this, we reviewed real-time transmission service based on RTP/UDP/IP and test method of the transmission quality. and implemented the real-time speech transmission system using GSM and UDP/IP. Monosyllable list has been chosen for the percentage articulation test, each voice packet has been coded and compressed by GSM and it has sequence number to measured packet loss and to recover out-of-order packets. In transmission results using seven router over the Korean Internet, we have show that loss rates reached 1.6% (unload), 22.5%(load) and loss rates after packet recovery by resequencing and FEC are from 9% to 35%. Finally, we have shown that percentage articulations by variation of the network traffic are Table 4.

  • This paper proposes a CS/MLBP(carrier sence/message and location based priority) reservation sheme in integrated data/voice local area networks. In this sceme reservation can be done with only 2 reservation bits regardless of the total number of stations in the network. Thus the reservation time is shorter than that of DSMA scheme(6) where reservation time is proportional to the logarithm of the total number of stations. Simulation results show that, as compared to DSMA scheme, this control scheme improves th delay-throughput characteristics of both the data and the voice traffic, reduces the lossrate of voice packet at heavy load. Results also show that the performance of the propoxed scheme is independant of the total number of the stations allowed.

  • Overload vehicles have demoralizing influence upon the social overhead capital, economics of nation, traffic flow and road safe as various components. Accordingly, this study established a ubiquitous sensor network system to develop an intelligent regulation system to monitor overloaded vehicles in motion. and Unlike WIM, after detecting the axle of driving vehicles by measuring deformation of roads, this system calculates the weights of vehicles by using signals from the strain sensors installed under the road and an analysis method. Also the study conducted an simulation test for vehicle load analysis using genetic algorithm. and tested wireless sensor for USN system.

  • The reliability of sensor networks is generally dependent on the battery power of the sensor nodes that it employs; hence it is crucial for the sensor nodes to efficiently use their battery resources. This research paper presents a method to increase the reliability of sensor nodes by constructing a connected dominating tree (CDT), which is a subnetwork of wireless sensor networks. It detects the minimum number of dominatees, dominators, forwarder sensor nodes, and aggregates, as well as transmitting data to the sink. A new medium access control (MAC) protocol, called Homogenous Quorum-Based Medium Access Control (HQMAC), is also introduced, which is an adaptive, homogenous, asynchronous quorum-based MAC protocol. In this protocol, certain sensor nodes belonging to a network will be allowed to tune their wake-up and sleep intervals, based on their own traffic load. A new quorum system, named BiQuorum, is used by HQMAC to provide a low duty cycle, low network sensibility, and a high number of rendezvous points when compared with other quorum systems such as grid and dygrid. Both the theoretical results and the simulation results proved that the proposed HQMAC (when applied to a CDT) facilitates low transmission latency, high delivery ratio, and low energy consumption, thus extending the lifetime of the network it serves.

  • This paper proposes a performance analysis model of security servers comprising IPSec accelerators. The proposed model is based on a M/M1 queueing system with traffic load of Poisson distribution. The decoding delay has been defined to cover parameters characterizing hardware of security sorrels. Decoding delay values of a commercial IPSec accelerator are extracted yielding less than 15% differences from measured data. The extracted data are used to simulate the server system with the proposed model. The simulated performance of the cryptographic processor BCM5820 is around 75% of the published claimed level. The performance degradation of 3.125% and 14.28% are observed for 64byte packets and 1024byte packets, respectively.
