  • The purpose of this study was to suggest development strategies of a village of Hwaseong-si where several programs using it's traditional items have been operated since 2003 according to the policy of Rural Traditional Thema Village Development implemented by Rural Development Administration(RDA). The village is located in Yodang-ri, Yanggam-myun, hwaseong-si in Gyounggi province. The village is called as 'Eunheng Namu Maeul' which means 'ginkgo tree village' since the tree is almost 350 years old and beautifully huge. Including this big tree there are much more traditional items such as organic dairy farming, hand-made cheese, legends and traditional plays. Using this items and government subsidies, the village has managed various tour programs and other income increasing projects. This study analyzed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the current situation of the village with the related materials and data to find out development strategies for the village-based programs and projects. This study recommended the followings as a major result of this study. The huge ginkgo tree at the village could be a better traditional attractive item when paths and wood of ginkgo trees will be built up especially utilizing the original huge one around the village. Like this, the item of hand made cheese could be a much more valuable traditional item when there will be an advanced facility for the people's working together. The social actives of the village have been weakened because of few young dwellers living there, therefore there needs a special subsidizing project for the village to hire a young manager having some social skills and knowledges. The situation being urbanized in front of the village needs precisely checking and implementing the Hwaseong-si's urbanization policy so that the urbanization could be harmonized with the maintenance and development of the traditional items of the village.

Now, in spite of tis potential power of traditional village, national strategies do not find satifsactory directions in Korea. In terms of this concenrs, this paper tries to analyze and diagnose about successful precedents(Tsumage village and Shiragawa village, Japan) with focus on the village management. And this paper aims to explore concrete management systems of Japanese cases, to find clues for practical application, and to suggest several instructive concepts in the light of management system of traditional village management. The analysis is progressed in three viewpoints(village space, village attraction, and village community). And it is extracted that diverse management systems are necessary to secure sustainable traditional village and their way of life, particularly in the face of the pressure of tourism. As a result of exploring of Japanese two cases, representative characteristics, which are found, are as follow; Fist, objective of management is not tourism development but maintenance of sustainable life system. Second, management systems are having not compulsory but spontaneous open decision making process, and in particular, village management is mainly operated by the local government and semipublic institute(inhabitants-oriented0 which have the strongest influential power in village composition units. Finally, village management programs are mostly experience-type and are composed of public law and regulations, diverse operation program, and individual efforts of inhabitants for village management. Because this paper mainly focused on two precedents, there should be more diverse cases. however, extracted conclusions have practical meanings for village management and can be used in re-establishing management concepts of Korean traditional villages.

  • As you know, there are a lot of our own traditional folk village exist in Korea, our country. Most people just know is that Korean traditional village is just happen make it and just continuously keeping this times type. But this village is not just make it but made by serious scientific sources such as, rule of locating streets. There are three very important reasons why I research this topic for my research paper. The first important reason is that Korean traditional villages have the pattern of human moving line system in accordance with hyung-kug. Hangae village that located on inclined ground named baesanimsu has the longer human moving line than Hanbam village that located on level ground. The second important reason is that Korean traditional villages have the smaller human moving line of the length and the amplitude as long as going inside villages. But the unit of the amplitude is the larger. Hanae and Hanbam village is the same pattern. The third important reason is that Korean traditional villages have the smaller human moving line of the length and the amplitude as long as having the larger gradient. Hangae and hanbam village is the same pattern. And Hanbam village hast he bigger human moving line of the length, the amplitude and the unit of the amplitude. In conclusion, by these three important big reasons, Korean traditional village is built by scientific sources. And now we can say that our old generation was very unbelievable genius. By these reasons we have to make sure when we make another city town and farm village planning. The meaning of making sure is that a person who have responsibility for making city have to make plan by scientific sources. It has to be not only theoretical but also think about real human life. It also fit on our traditional.
