원세조출엽도 중의 세조 복식 연구 (A Study the Costume of Kublai Khan of the Kublai Khan on a Hunting Trip)

  • Kublai Khan on a Hunting Trip were painted by Liu Guan-dao. This painting gives us very important information for understanding cosume of Yuan dynasty because of realistic description. We studied the name of costume of the king Shizu in this painting by using the way of comparison his costume with another paintings, the records and archaeological finds. This study showed that the costume of the king Shizu is judged to be Jisun, the traditional costume of Mongolian own meaning one colour. The name of each is the Yinshu warm hat, being making into the for of a kind of rodents, the Yinshu Jisun, the Red colour Jisun, being railed on the robe, and the Cloud boots cover. And we found that the decoration on the neck and sleeve tib of the Yinshu Jisun had been made by sable furs, and the decoration on the surface had been made by tails of them, going by the name of Rondes at that time. It also showed that the meaning of one colour of the Jisun is not only just appearing one colour on the one person but also being able to appear two set of one colour.

현대패션에 표현된 패치워크의 표현특성 (Expressive Characteristics of Patchwork Shown in Modern Fashion)

  • This study was conducted to examine how patchwork was expressed in fashion based on theoretical background on its brief history and expression styles and to show its possibility of creating ways for new expression in modern fashion. This study reviewed literatures on definition, history and styles of patchwork and investigated mainly works, which had been presented in collections home and abroad since 2000, to analyze its expressive characteristics shown in modern fashion. According to analysis on the expression of patchwork, it used various painting techniques such as patterns, colors and surface effect. It included patchwork having patterns provoking elusion of fairy tails; containing painting expression of reproducing works of artists; using colors boldly and contrasting strong primary colors directly to establish purity of painting and to pursuit characteristic expression; and using expression techniques of pure art such as gradation and cutting. Second, it used a compromise expression in materials, methods and substances. Patchwork which had used cloth without a pattern or printed fabric, utilized various materials like vinyl, paper, leather, metal and plastic and had a figurative value showing a solid expression as an objet itself with new techniques and changes of connecting methods. Thirdly, it used tradition patchwork techniques. Pieced patchwork, crazy patchwork and images of traditional odd ends of cloth covering a meal were applied to a whole area or a part of cloth to avoid monotony of design and to use it as a decoration.

X-선 투과깊이 검증에 따른 벽화 안료의 정밀분석: 논산 쌍계사 대웅전 (Pigment Analysis for Wall Paintings According to Verification of Penetration Depth for X-ray: Ssanggyesa Daeungjeon (Main Hall of Ssanggyesa Temple) in Nonsan)

  • 이 연구에서는 안료층에 대한 X-선의 투과깊이를 산출하여 벽화안료의 효과적인 P-XRF 분석기법을 제안하였다. 실험결과, P-XRF에서 발생한 X-선은 안료의 1.17mm까지 투과가 가능한 것으로 산출되었다. X-선의 투과깊이와 특성을 활용하여 논산 쌍계사 대웅전 벽화에 채색된 8가지 색상의 안료를 분석한 결과, 대부분의 안료는 전통안료를 사용한 것으로 확인되었다. 그러나 근대에 복원한 벽화는 원래의 벽화와 색상은 유사하지만 현대안료를 사용한 것으로 나타났다.

  • Daily dance Ganggangsullae is recommended for youth to help their diet, improve their team life and know Korean culture. Its performance costumes were fusion hanbok and casual wear shown at the Second Daily Dance Ganggangsullae Contest Conference of Myeongryang Battle Festival in 2013. A fusion hanbok shows the Korean traditional spirit, but it is not practical. Casual wear is practical, but it does not show any Korean identity. Therefore, their combination is needed to reflect the Korean identity and practicality. For this, a literature review and an online search were conducted for the history, purpose and dance motion of daily dance Ganggangsullae. And photographs of participating teams were gathered from Jeonnam Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency. Goguryeo costumes were used for design motifs. Four designs were sets of T-shirts and pants for the summer. Style 1 is designed using sam, jikryeong, go, round and triangle pattern with rippled cotton. Colors were from Wang Huiji's mural painting. Style 2 is designed using dansuui, beonryeong, go, round and quadrangle patterns with rippled cotton. Colors were from a Deokheungri mural painting. Style 3 is designed using sam, round ryeong, go, quadrangle patterns, prints with cotton jersey and denim. Colors were from a Gamsinchong mural painting. Style 4 is designed using dansuui, jikryeong, go, a flame pattern, a bow and arrow shape with cotton, knit and jersey. Colors were from a Muyongchong mural painting. This study is helpful to anyone who wants to develop Korean-style performance costumes.

수묵화, 채색화의 색채 사용 형식 방법 연구 및 분류 (The Research of the Method and the Classification in Painting Style Between Korean Traditional Ink Paintings and Color Paintings)

  • 본 논문은 수묵화와 채색화에서 색채 사용이 다름을 착안하여 수묵화,채색화 그림의 스타일 양식 차이에서 오는 결과를 작품위주로 보여주며 소개하고 있으며 다양한 동양회화를 색채 사용 형식에 따라 수묵담채, 중채, 진채, 현대채색화의 네 가지 군으로 정리 하였다. 수묵화는 재료적 특성으로 인해 생긴 그림양식에서 색채는 담하게 선을 넘지 않는 범위에서 올라가다보니 고유색을 지정해주는 역할 이상이 아닌 그림의 보조적인 역할에 머무르게 되었고 그럼에도 불구하고 진한 색채를 보이는 몇 작품이 있으며 이를 중채라 불렀고 진한 채색 그림들은 단순히 색채로만 많은 부분을 표현해야하기 때문에 채색화의 재료적 특성과 함께 색채가 아주 중요한 부분을 차지하게 되었다. 이와 같이 그림의 양식 스타일에 따른 색채 사용의 차이에 대해서 본 논문은 정리하고 있으며 또한 현대에 와서는 서양화 같은 채색 작품도 많으므로 현대 채색화의 다양성을 작품의 예로써 제시하였다. 이러한 다양성 속에 현재진행형 작품들이 계속 전통을 이으며 현대적인 미감으로 동양 색채를 잘 풀어가야 하며 본 논문은 전통 회화와 현대회화가 잘 조화된 작품을 하는데 도움이 되고자 채색화의 다양성을 연구, 분류하였다.

  • 수묵화는 동방 문화에서 중요한 예술 제작 방식 중 하나이다. 수묵화는 서양화보다 현실감이 다소 떨어지는 면이 있지만, 수묵화가 가지는 특별한 화법을 포함해서 동방 문화의 전파와 발전에 크게 기여하였다. 수묵화 화법을 활용한 3D 애니메이션이나 게임 등은 수묵화에서 파생한 콘텐츠이다. 본 논문에서는 3D 수묵화 콘텐츠의 역사와 전통적인 수묵화법 연구를 통하여 전통 수묵화 작품의 예술적 특징과 3D 수묵화 콘텐츠 제작 방법을 연구하였다. 또한 수묵화법을 활용한 디지털 콘텐츠의 확장성을 제시하였다. 모바일 게임, VR, AR 등 새로운 융합콘텐츠로서의 가능성에 대한 연구 가치가 높다고 생각하며, 따라서 수묵화법을 활용한 다양한 영상 콘텐츠는 향후 큰 발전을 기대할 수 있다고 사료된다.

태국의 불교사찰 벽화에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Mural Paintings in Thai Temples)

  • This research tries to review the history and concepts of Thai temple mural painting. According to the research results, the history of Thai mural painting dates back to the late 14th century when Wat Chedi Chet Taeo in Si Satchanalai was built. The Sinhalese elements embedded in the Sukhothai murals are also found in the Ayuthayan stupa murals made in the early 15th century. The mid 18th century's Burmese invasion into Ayuthaya destroyed most of Buddhist temples in the Kingdom of Ayuthaya and as a result, Buddhist murals of the late Ayuthayan age are hardly found except for some temple murals located outside of the capital. The late Ayuthayan murals are much different from the early Ayuthayan murals in that they are narrative in depicting Jataka and the life of Lord Buddha. This classical mural painting culminated in the age of Rama III of Bangkok Dynasty. His successor Rama IV undertook westernized reforms which influenced the area of traditional mural painting. Consequently, new western style Buddhist mural paintings were produced while themes of mural painting were enlarged to the other subjects such as historical recording of royal and social events. This trend continued in the age of Rama V but the development of Thai Buddhist mural painting discontinued after the death of Rama V due to the rapid westernization and decrease of illiteracy. The existing Buddhist murals produced on or before the reign of Rama V are deteriorating and disappearing. The reasons for this are partly because of Thailand's humid climate. However, some social backgrounds such as the lack of concern for preserving old Buddhist murals can not be disregarded. Considering the substantial value of Thai Buddhist murals as a cultural resource in Thai society, it is very urgent to establish appropriate conservation policy for them.

주사총(周思聰)의 작품세계 (Zou Si Cong's Work)

  • 주사총은 중국의 현대 미술문화를 형성하는 시기에 중요한 영향을 끼친 여성 화가이다. 그는 1939년에 태어나 1996년에 사망하였는데 중국 정치 사회의 격변기를 지나면서 그 영향을 받았다. 그의 실제적인 작품 활동 기간은 중국 '문화대혁명'이 끝나고 1978년부터 약 1990년까지 약 13년밖에 되지 않는 짧은 기간이다. 특히 1985년 이후 류마티스 관절염에 의해 그림을 그릴 수 없을 정도로 사지가 뒤틀리는 고통 속에서도 틈틈이 그림을 그리는 창작렬을 보였다. 주사총의 작품의 변환을 보면 크게 '리얼리즘의 표현시기', '<광공도>의 표현시기', '이족(彛族)의 표현시기', '연화(蓮花)의 표현시기'로 나누어 볼 수 있다. 그의 작품 가운데 <광공도>는 많은 사람들에게 충격을 주었으며, 중국의 현대인물화에 있어서 전환적인 영향을 끼쳤는데 중국의 전통적인 인물화 표현에서 벗어나 화면을 분할하고, 인물을 변형하거나 왜곡시켜 새로운 인물화를 보여 주었다. 주사총 작품세계의 특성은 '전통성', '리얼리즘', '역사성'의 표현으로 볼 수 있다. 주사총은 중국 전통 회화표현을 바탕으로 서양의 표현과 자신의 개성적 표현을 더했으며, '문화대혁명기' 때는 인물의 실사표현을 통한 리얼리즘을 보여 주었다. 그리고 '이족'을 나타낸 작품들에서는 그들 삶의 모습들을 생생하게 그려내었다. 일제 만행의 역사적인 기록을 바탕으로 <광공도>가 이루어진 것에서는 '역사'를 재해석하여 화면을 구성하는 창의성을 볼 수 있다.

미적(美的) 태도(態度)로서의 '유(游)' ('You(游)', as the Aesthetic attitude)

  • 이 글은 "도화견문지(圖畵見聞誌)" "임천고치(林泉高致)" "화안(畵眼)" "고과화상화어록(苦瓜和尙?語錄)"에서 보이는 '유'의 용례를 고찰하였다. 고찰의 결과 첫째, '유'에서 생성한 미적가치를 유형화하면, 송대의 "도화견문지"의 경우 심이 생성한 정사 ${\rightarrow}$ "임천고치"의 경우 심이 생성한 의사 ${\rightarrow}$ 명대 "화안"의 경우 고은지사 ${\rightarrow}$ 청대 "고과화상화어록"의 경우 일획의 법이다. 둘째, '유'의 주요 방법, 즉 미적가치를 얻는 방법은 "도화견문지"의 경우는 찰 ${\rightarrow}$ "임천고치"의 경우는 간 ${\rightarrow}$ "화안"의 경우는 간득숙 ${\rightarrow}$ "화어록"의 경우는 수와 식이다. 셋째, '유'는 창작주체의 심이 찰, 간, 간득숙, 수와 식의 방법으로 미적가치를 생성하는 과정이었으며, 이때 미적가치는 사물의 진으로서 신을 추구하였다. 그리고 "도화견문지"의 '유'가 생성한 미적가치인 정사는 사물을 사실적으로 표현하는 것 ${\rightarrow}$ "임천고치"의 '유'가 생성한 미적가치인 의사는 사물의 객관적 표현과 주관적 표현 ${\rightarrow}$ "화안"의 '유'가 생성한 미적가치인 고은지사는 사물의 생기를 표현하는 것 ${\rightarrow}$ "화어록"의 '유'가 생성한 미적가치인 일획의 법은 사물의 리와 태를 창작주체의 화법으로 표현하는 것이라는 창작론을 구성하였다. 전신을 목적으로 하는 전통회화에서 '유'는 다양한 미적가치를 생성하는 경험을 이끌지만 그에 선행하여 사물의 진으로서의 신을 추구한다는 속성을 가진다는 점에서 미적 태도로서 규명하였다.

일제강점기 '전위미술론'의 전통관 연구 - '문장(文章)' 그룹을 중심으로 (A Study on Avant-Garde Fine Art during the period of Japanese Colonial Rule of Korea, centering on 'Munjang' (a literary magazine))

  • From the late 1920s to the 1930s, Korea's fine art community focused on traditional viewpoints as their main topic. The traditional viewpoints were discussed mainly by Korean students studying in Japan, especially oil painters. Such discussions on tradition can be divided into two separate halves, namely the pre- and post-Sino-Japanese War (1937) periods. Before the war, the modernists among Korea's fine art community tried to gain a fuller understanding of contemporary Western modern art, namely, expressionism, futurism, surrealism, and so forth, on the basis of Orientalism, and borrow from these schools' in order to create their own works. Furthermore, proponents of Joseon's avant-garde fine arts and artists of the pro-fine art school triggered debate on the traditional viewpoints. After the Sino-Japanese War, these artists continued to embrace Western modern art on the basis of Orientalism. However, since Western modern fine art was regressing into Oriental fine art during this period, Korean artists did not need to research Western modern fine art, but sought to study Joseon's classics and create Joseon's own avant- garde fine art in a movement led by the Munjang group. This research reviews the traditional view espoused by the Munjang group, which represented the avant-garde fine art movement of the post-war period. Advocating Joseon's own current of avant-garde fine art through the Munjang literary magazine, Gil Jin - seop, Kim Yong-jun and others accepted the Japanese fine art community's methodology for the restoration of classicism, but refused Orientalism as an ideology, and attempted to renew their perception of Joseon tradition. The advocation of the restoration of classicism by Gil Jin-seop and Kim Yong-jun appears to be similar to that of the Yasuda Yojuro-style restoration of classicism. However, Gil Jin-seop and Kim Yong-jun did not seek their sources of classicism from the Three-Kingdoms and Unified Silla periods, which Japan had promoted as a symbol of unity among the Joseon people; instead they sought classicism from the Joseon fine art which the Japanese had criticized as a hotbed of decadence. It was the Joseon period that the Munjang group chose as classicism when Japan was upholding Fascism as a contemporary extremism, and when Hangeul (Korean writing system) was banned from schools. The group highly evaluated literature written in the style of women, especially women's writings on the royal court, as represented by Hanjungnok (A Story of Sorrowful Days). In the area of fine art, the group renewed the evaluation of not only literary paintings, but also of the authentic landscape paintings refused by, and the values of the Chusa school criticized as decadent by, the colonial bureaucratic artists, there by making great progress in promoting the traditional viewpoint. Kim Yong-jun embraced a painting philosophy based on the painting techniques of Sasaeng (sketching), because he paid keen attention to the tradition of literary paintings, authentic landscape paintings and genre paintings. The literary painting theory of the 20th century, which was highly developed, could naturally shed both the colonial historical viewpoint which regarded Joseon fine art as heteronomical, and the traditional viewpoint which regarded Joseon fine art as decadent. As such, the Munjang group was able to embrace the Joseon period as the source of classicism amid the prevalent colonial historical viewpoint, presumably as it had accumulated first-hand experience in appreciating curios of paintings and calligraphic works, instead of taking a logical approach. Kim Yong-jun, in his fine art theory, defined artistic forms as the expression of mind, and noted that such an artistic mind could be attained by the appreciation of nature and life. This is because, for the Munjang group, the experience of appreciating nature and life begins with the appreciation of curios of paintings and calligraphic works. Furthermore, for the members of the Munjang group, who were purists who valued artistic style, the concept of individuality presumably was an engine that protected them from falling into the then totalitarian world view represented by the Nishita philosophy. Such a 20th century literary painting theory espoused by the Munjang group concurred with the contemporary traditional viewpoint spearheaded by Oh Se-chang in the 1910s. This theory had a great influence on South and North Korea's fine art theories and circles through the Fine Art College of Seoul National University and Pyongyang Fine Art School in the wake of Korea's liberation. In this sense, the significance of the theory should be re-evaluated.
