New Map-Matching Algorithm Using Virtual Track for Pedestrian Dead Reckoning

  • In this paper, a map-matching (MM) algorithm which combines an estimated position with digital road data is proposed. The presented algorithm using a virtual track is appropriate for a MEMS-based pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR) system, which can be used in mobile devices. Most of the previous MM algorithms are for car navigation systems and GPS-based navigation system, so existing MM algorithms are not appropriate for the pure DR-based pedestrian navigation system. The biggest problem of previous MM algorithms is that they cannot determine the correct road segment (link) due to the DR characteristics. In DR-based navigation system, the current position is propagated from the previous estimated position. This means that the MM result can be placed on a wrong link when MM algorithm fails to decide the correct link at once. It is a critical problem. Previous algorithms never overcome this problem because they did not consider pure DR characteristics. The MM algorithm using the virtual track is proposed to overcome this problem with improved accuracy. Performance of the proposed MM algorithm was verified by experiments.

Prediction of Tractive Performance of Tracked Vehicles Using a Computer Simulation Model

  • A mathematical model was developed for estimating the mechanical interrelation between characteristics of soil and main design factors of a tracked vehicle, and predicting the tractive performance of the tracked vehicle. Based on the mathematical model, a computer simulation program (TPPMTV) was developed in the study. The model considered the continuous change in tension for the whole track of a tracked vehicle, the analysis of shape and tension of the track segment between sprocket and first roadwheel, and the side thrust on both sides of grouser by the active earth pressure theory in predicting the tractive performance of a tracked vehicle. Also, the model contained not only sinkage depth of the track but the pressure distribution under the track in analyzing the side thrust. The effectiveness of the developed model was verified by performing the draw bar pull tests with a tracked vehicle reconstructed for test in loam soil with moisture content of 18.92%. The predicted drawbar pulls by the model were well matched to the measured ones. Such results implied that the model developed in the study could estimate the drawbar pulls well at various soil conditions, and would be very useful as a simulation tool for designing a tracked vehicle and predicting its tractive performance.

Poly-jog을 사용한 그리디 스위치박스 배선기 (A Greedy Poly-jog Switch-Box Router(AGREE))

  • 본 논문에서 제안하는 switch-box 배선기는 greedy poly-jog 배선기와 via 최소화기로 나누어진다. Greedy poly-jog 배선기는 Luk의 greedy swich-box 배선 알고리듬을 기본으로 하며, 수평track에 metal을 수직track에 poly-silicon을 배선하는 제한을 완화하여 필요한 경우에는 수평 track에 poly-silicon을 배선함으로써 배선영역의 수평track을 증가시키지 않고 배선할 수 있다. Via 최소화기는 배선된 wire의 각 corner를 펴거나 wire 선분을 평행이동하거나 metal을 poly-silicon 및 poly-silicon을 metal로 바꿈으로써 via와 배선길이를 줄이는 과정을 수행한다. 본 배선기는 column 방향으로 배선영역을 scan함으로써 배선을 완료하며, 시간복잡도는 O(M(N+ Nnet)) 이다. 여기서, M, N, Nnet은 각각 배선 column의 수, 배선 row의 수, net의 수이다.

대퇴절단 환자의 보행 시 양하지의 운동학적 변인에 대한 variability 분석 (The Variability Analysis of the Kinematic Variables of the Lower Extremities During AK(above-knee) Amputee Gait)

  • This study was investigated the stability of the AK amputee gait through analysing the variability on kinematic variables between the sound leg and the prosthetic limb. The one male, AK amputee who could walk for himself with his prosthetic limb was participated in this study. Six cameras of the MCU 240 and the QTM(Qualisys Track Manager) software were used for data collecting in this study. The relative angle of both segments was the difference between the absolute angle of the distal segment and the absolute angle of the proximal segment. The coupling angles between the prosthetic limb and the sound leg were caculated on the thigh Flexion/Extension in relative to the shank Flexion/Extension and the shank Flexion/Extension n relative to the foot Flexion/Extension. In order to evaluate the variability of segment and joint angle, C.V. was used, and to evaluate the variability for coupling angles, the Relative motion calculated by vector coding method of the continuous methods was used. As stated, the gait pattern of the prosthetic limb was almost similar gait pattern of the sound leg, but the prosthetic limb showed that the gait pattern of the sound leg and the prosthetic limb were not stable against the sound leg.

  • Railway conflict detection and resolution problem (RCDRP) involves complicated field constraints that should be considered for practical service. In this paper, we address those constraints in brief. Particularly, following situations are addressed; (1) temporal change of network topology, (2) consideration of diverse conditions of track and train, for example, single/double tracks and passenger/freight service, (3) siding capacity limitation, (4) bidirectional sides used by both inbound and outbound trains, (5) regulation for passenger transfer service, (6) consideration of siding length, (7) Restriction on stopping before the track segment with steep slope.

비디오 영상에서 사전정보 기반의 도로 추적 (Road Tracking based on Prior Information in Video Sequences)

  • 본 논문에서는 실 도로 환경에서 획득한 영상으로부터 도로 영역을 추적하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 이전 처리 결과로부터 미리 알려진 정보를 이용하여 현재 영상에서 도로를 검출하고 추적하는 방법이다. 제안된 방법은 시스템의 효율을 위해 연속적인 입력 영상에서 하위 60%이내에 도로가 있다고 가정하여 관심의 대상이 되는 영역(Region of Interest, ROI)을 설정하고 이 영역에서만 도로를 검출하고 추적한다. 최초 분할은 플러드필 알고리즘(Flood-fill algorithm)을 수행한 결과로부터 주위 영역과의 유사성을 평가한 후 병합하여 분할한다. 사전 정보로 사용되는 이전 영상에서 분할 결과에서 시드점(Seed Point)을 추출하고 이 시드점을 기준으로 현재 영상을 분할한다. 이전 영상에서 분할된 도로 영역과 현재 영상에서 분할된 결과를 변형된 자카드 계수(Jaccard coefficient)를 이용한 유사도 측정 결과에 따라 다음 영상에서 도로영역을 정제하고 추적한다. 연속적인 입력 영상을 대상으로 실험한 결과는 잡음이 존재하는 영상에서도 도로를 추적하는데 효과적임을 보여준다.

Investigation on ground displacements induced by excavation of overlapping twin shield tunnels

  • Ground displacements caused by the construction of overlapping twin shield tunnels with small turning radius are complex, especially under special geological conditions of construction. To investigate the ground displacements caused due to shield machines in the unique calcareous sand layers in Israel for the first time and determine the main factors affecting the ground displacements, field monitoring, laboratory geological analysis, theoretical calculations, and parameter studies were adopted. By using rod extensometers, inclinometers, total stations, and automatic segment-displacement monitors, subsurface tunneling-induced displacement, surface settlement, and displacement of the down-track tunnel segments caused by the construction of an up-track tunnel were analyzed. The up-track tunnel and the down-track tunnel pass through different stratum, resulting in different construction parameters and ground displacements. The laws of variation of thrust and torque, soil pressure in the chamber, excavated soil quantity, synchronous grouting pressure, and grout volume of the two tunnels from parallel to fully overlapping orientations were compared. The thrust and torque of the shield in the fine sand are larger than those in the Kurkar layer, and the grouting amount in fine sand is unstable. According to fuzzy statistics and Gaussian curve fitting of the shield tunneling speed, the tunneling speed in the Kurkar stratum is twice that in the fine-sand stratum.

Unscented Kalman Snake for 3D Vessel Tracking

  • Purpose In this paper, we propose a robust 3D vessel tracking algorithm by utilizing an active contour model and unscented Kalman filter which are the two representative algorithms on segmentation and tracking. Materials and Methods The proposed algorithm firstly accepts user input to produce an initial estimate of vessel boundary segmentation. On each Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) slice, the active contour is applied to segment the vessel boundary. After that, the estimation process of the unscented Kalman filter is applied to track the vessel boundary of the current slice to estimate the inter-slice vessel position translation and shape deformation. Finally both active contour and unscented Kalman filter are inter-operated for vessel segmentation of the next slice. Results The arbitrarily shaped blood vessel boundary on each slice is segmented by using the active contour model, and the Kalman filter is employed to track the translation and shape deformation between CTA slices. The proposed algorithm is applied to the 3D visualization of chest CTA images using graphics hardware. Conclusion Through this algorithm, more opportunities, giving quick and brief diagnosis, could be provided for the radiologist before detailed diagnosis using 2D CTA slices, Also, for the surgeon, the algorithm could be used for surgical planning, simulation, navigation and rehearsal, and is expected to be applied to highly valuable applications for more accurate 3D vessel tracking and rendering.

BBME와 DD를 통합한 움직이는 카메라로부터의 이동물체 추적 시스템 (A Moving Object Tracking System from a Moving Camera by Integration of Motion Estimation and Double Difference)

  • 본 논문에서는 움직이는 카메라로부터 획득한 연속영상에서 이동물체를 자동으로 검출하고 추적하는 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 크게 이동물체 검출과 추적과정으로 나뉘어진다. 이동물체는 BBME(block-based motion estimation)와 DD(double difference)를 통합한 방법을 이용하여 검출된다. 검출된 이동물체는 히스토그램 백 프로젝션을 통하여 분할되며, 히스토그램 인터섹션과 XY-프로젝션을 사용하여 대상물체를 정합하고 추적된다. 본 논문에서는 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통하여 제안된 방법이 움직이는 카메라로부터 획득된 영상에서 이동물체를 검출하고 큰 오차 없이 추적함을 보였다.

SIFT 특징을 이용하여 중첩상황에 강인한 AAM 기반 얼굴 추적 (Robust AAM-based Face Tracking with Occlusion Using SIFT Features)

  • 얼굴추적은 3차원 공간상에서 머리(head)와 안면(face)의 움직임을 추정하는 기술로, 얼굴 표정 감정인식과 같은 상위 분석단계의 중요한 기반기술이다. 본 논문에서는 AAM 기반의 얼굴추적 알고리즘을 제안한다. AAM은 변형되는 대상을 분할하고 추적하는데 광범위하게 적용되고 있다. 그러나 여전히 여러 가지 해결해야할 제약사항들이 있다. 특히 자체중첩(self-occlusion)과 부분적인 중첩, 그리고 일시적으로 완전히 가려지는 완전중첩 상황에서 보통 국부해에 수렴(local convergence)하거나 발산하기 쉽다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 중첩상황에 대한 AAM의 강인성을 향상시키기 위해서 SIFT 특징을 이용하고 있다. SIFT는 일부 영상의 특징점으로 안정적인 추적이 가능하기 때문에 자체와 부분중첩에 효과적이며, 완전중첩의 상황에도 SIFT의 전역적인 매칭성능으로 별도의 재초기화 없이 연속적인 추적이 가능하다. 또한 추적과정에서 큰 자세변화에 따른 움직임을 효과적으로 추정하기 위해서 다시점(multi-view) 얼굴영상의 SIFT 특징을 온라인으로 등록하여 활용하고 있다. 제안한 알고리즘의 이러한 강인성은 위 세 가지 중첩상황에 대해서 기존 알고리즘들과의 비교실험을 통해서 보여준다.
