  • Epidemiological studies of arsenic have shown that chronic exposure to arsenic can result in an increased incidence of cancer of the lung, skin, bladder and liver. It is impossible that the toxicity study of arsenic in the human, we become to measure in vitro cytotoxicity of inorganic and organic arsenic in the human normal liver cells including Chang Liver and WRL.   • Certain chlorinated propanols occur as contaminants in hydrolysed vegetable proteins. Processing of defatted vegetable proteins by traditional hydrochloric acid hydrolysis leads to the formation of 3-monochloro-1, 2-propanediol(3-MCPD). The objective of this study was to determine the toxicity of 3-MCPD in the rat following oral(gavage) administration for 13 weeks. (omitted)

  • Alcohol drinking during pregnancy can result in abnormal fetal development including fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS). The molecular mechanisms of FAS, however, is not completely elucidated. In the present study, we evaluated the developmental toxicity of ethanol and its metabolite, acetaldehyde using post implantation whole embryo culture and determined changes of gene expression by ethanol treatment by cDNA microarray.(omitted)

  • Apodemus agrarius Pallas has been known to be a reservoir of hanta virus. But there was no report of immune organs. So this study was performed to clarify the relation between Structure and function of immune organ. In the present investigation an immunocytochemistry procedure was used to examine the distribution of T and B cell and macrophage populations in the thymus spleen and lymph nodes. Most of lymphoid organ showed decreased pattern of Ly1 positive T and IgM positive B cells. Macrophage positive cells were deceased in vivo. The present study gives an overview on the immune organ structure and function of Apodemus agrarius Pallas.

  • One of the major limitations in using adenoviral vector for gene therapy is inefficient infection of host cells. The presence of coxsackievirus and adenovirus receptor (CAR) and ${\alpha}$-integrin on cell surfaces is required for efficient adenovirus infection. In this study, we investigated the effect of trichostatin A, a histone deacetylase inhibitor, on transfection efficiency after transduction of adenovirus mediated p16$\^$INK4a/ gene transfer. In our previous study, p16$\^$INK4a/ tumor suppressor gene transfer in the non-small cell lung cancer cells (A549 cells) by transduction of recombinant adenovirus (Ad5CMV-p16) resulted in significant inhibition of cancer cell proliferation.
