Nowadays, recycling of recycled aggregates from the waste concrete is seriously demanded for the protection of environment and the shortage of aggregates owing to the large scale construction project. In this study, for the development of polymer composite recycling recycled aggregates from the waste concrete, twenty five specimens of the polymer composite were prepared with the five levels of replacement ratios of recycled aggregates (0, 25, 50, 75, 100%) and polymer-cement ratios (0,5, 10, 15, 20%), respectively. For the evaluation of the performance of polymer composite specimens, various physical properties such as compressive and flexural strengths, water absorption, hot water resistance, total pore volume and porosity were investigated. As a result, physical properties of polymer composite were remarkably improved with an increase of polymer cement ratios, but greatly decreased with the replacement ratios of recycled aggregates.
This paper describes the factors which control the impedance-relative humidity characteristics of the TiO2-V2O5 humidity sensor. To obtain the quantitative relationships between impedance and many manufacturing parameters such as V2O5mol%, the sintering time and temperature, various sets of samples are preared and tested. With changing relative hymidity from 20% to 80%, it is measrued that the corresponding capacitance and impedance from the semicircles which complex impedance plots make. As a result we found that the impedance-relative humidity characteristics are mainly controlled by the doping amount of V2O5 total pore volume and bulk resistence of the elements. We can assume the equivalent circuits of each samples and finally control the sintering time to get a linear humidity impedance response curve which plays an important role in device making. 4mol% V2O5-TiO2 specimen sintered at 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 10min. show liear log(Z) vs. RH characteristics and 10mol% V2O5-TiO2 specimen sintered at the same temp. for 20min. show linear (Z) vs. RH.

To quantitatively investigate the effects of manure compost on the soil and water environment including ground water the elution patterns of anions and hydraulic conductivity wore estimated with four different depth(15, 30, 45 60cm) and four variable ratio of compost treatment(0, 2, 4, 6%) through soil column test. 1. There were over 95% of elution of chloride and nitrate within 0.1 pore volume(PV), and sulfate within 0.2 PV. With 2 ton/10a of cow manure compost treatment recommended total 40 kg/10a of anions added was recovered as effluent at the amount of 17kg chloride, 5.4kg nitrate, and 13.2kg sulfate, respectively However, phosphate rarely recovered in the effluent due to the strong affinity for sorption sites in soils. 2. In multi-layered soil column the maximum peaks of each anion eluted were retardated with increasing soil depth and the amount of organic matter(OM) treatment. 3. With increasing OM up to 2% the saturated hydraulic conductivity(SHC) was greatly decreased, but the slight decrease in SHC was found by addition of OM greater than 4%. In multi-layered soil column SHC was more effected by the lower SHV layer than by that of the higher.

In order to investigate the field application of selected stabilization methods(cover soil method, surface and total interval treatment of embankment method) on rice paddies contaminated by heavy metals, column test was carried out with heavy metal-contaminated soils collected from rice paddies around abandoned mine site. Columns were made by acrylic and filled with untreated soil, treated soil mixed with amendments(lime stone and steel refining slag) and uncontaminated cover soil according to the design report. Distilled water was discharged into the columns with the velocity of 1 pore volume/day. During test, pH, EC, and heavy metal concentration were measured in the regular term. The column test result showed that the selected stabilization methods were effective remediation method to stabilize heavy metals in paddy soils, but it was also expected that application of surface treatment methods was required the careful observation on pH variation due to the lowest increment.
This paper introduces a nitrogen-doped ordered mesoporous carbon (NOMC) derived from glucosamine with hybrid capacitive behaviors, achieved by successfully combining electrical double-layer capacitance with pseudo-capacitance behaviors. The nitrogen doping content of the fabricated NOMC reached 7.4 at% while its specific surface area ($S_{BET}$) and total pore volume reached $778m^2g^{-1}$ and $1.17cm^3g^{-1}$, respectively. A dual mesoporous structure with small mesopores centered at 3.6 nm and large mesopores centered at 9.9 nm was observed. The specific capacitance of the reported materials reached up to $328Fg^{-1}$, which was 2.1 times higher than that of pristine CMK-3. The capacitance retention rate was found to be higher than 87.9% after 1000 charge/discharge cycles. The supplementary pseudocapacitance as well as the enhanced wettability and conductivity due to the incorporation of nitrogen heteroatoms within the carbon matrixes were found to be responsible for the excellent capacitive performance of the reported NOMC materials.
Effect of Ca/P mole ratio on the precipitates and powder properties of hydroxyapatite was investigated. Powder and precipitates of hydroxyapatite were synthesized by the reaction of Ca(NO3)2.4H2O and (NH4)2 HPO4 solutions at room temperature. The pH value and compositions (Ca/P mole ratio) in starting solutions were 11 and 1.64-1.79(or 1.85), respectively. Rodlike hydroxyapatite precipitates were agglomerated together. The average agglomerated particle size was ranged from 2-8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Among compositions, the minimum agglomerated particle size was shown at the Ca/P mole ratio 1.75. CO2 was contained in hydroxyapatite powders and these ultrafine powders had poor crystallinity. The specific surface area and specific total pore volume of hydroxyapatite powders were 104-137$m^2$/g and 0.396-0.467cc/g, respectively. When the Ca/P mole ratio was 1.75, these values were the maximum. And water content increased with the Ca/P mole ratio(Ca/P mole ratio>1.67). In most cases, hydroxyapaite was stable to 130$0^{\circ}C$. However, in the case of Ca/P mole ratio 1.64, hydroxyapatite was changed to $\alpha$-whitlockite at 120$0^{\circ}C$.
Distillation condensate generated from downstream processing of microbial alcohol fermentation imposes a serious burden to biological wastewater treatment or anaerobic digestion due to its high contents of SS (suspended solids) and TN (total nitrogen), A pilot scale microfiltration of the stillage condensate with a stainless steel SCEPTER membrane of 0.1 ${\mu}$m pore size was carried out to remove SS which was mostly composed of microbial cell residue. A stable permeate flux was achieved when the decanter effluent containing 0.7% of SS was filtered under the conditions of X10 VCR (volume concentration ratio), 2.5 bar of TMP (transmembrane pressure), and 60$^{\circ}C$. When stillage condensate with 2.6% SS was treated directly with microfiltration, VCR below X3 was recommended for a long duration of filtration. The permeate and retentate obtained from microfiltration were recycled to make-up medium of fermentation. Adding permeate or retentate up to 30% of fermentation volume showed no distinguished undesirable influence during the course of alcohol fermentation. Although only slight improvements in the final amount of CO$_2$ evolution and alcohol content were observed, fermentation rate increased so that the required time to reach 450 L/ton of CO$_2$ evolution was shortened to 72% of that with normal media.
In this study, the surface of a phenol based activated carbon (AC) used as an electrode in an electric double layer capacitor was modified via boric acid treatment for the capacitance investigation. The effect of boric acid treatment on electrochemical performance was also investigated. The AC surface functional groups ratio of quinone-like (O=C) which is electrochemical active functional groups was increased after the boric acid treatment. And, boric acid treated AC showed an increase in the specific surface area, total pore volume, and micropore volume. In case of optimum boric acid treated AC, its specific capacitance increased by 20% in comparison to that of untreated AC. These results demonstrate that a boric acid treated carbon surface-based electric double layer capacitor electrode effectively enhances specific capacitance.
For the cost down of polymer concrete, It is very important to reduce the use amount of polymer binder, which occupies most of the production cost of polymer concrete. Fly ash and atomizing reduction steel slag are spherical materials obtained from industrial by-products. Spherical atomizing reduction steel slag was manufactured using steel slag from reduction process of ladle furnace by atomizing technology. To investigate the physical properties of polymer concrete, polymer concrete specimens were prepared with the various proportions of polymer binder and replacement ratios of atomizing steel slag. Results showed that compressive and flexural strengths of the specimens were remarkably increased with the addition amount of polymer binder and the replacement ratios of atomizing steel slag. In the hot water resistance test, compressive strength, flexural strength, bulk density and average pore diameter decreased but total pore volume and pore diameter increased. We found that polymer concrete developed in this study reduced the amount of polymer binder by 18.2% compared to the conventional product because of the remarkable improvement of workability of polymer concrete using spherical fly ash and atomizing reduction steel slag instead of calcium carbonate (filler) and river sand (fine aggregate).
The ortho- and iso- type unsaturated polyester resins were synthesized and used as a polymer binder of the polymer mortar composite. Styrene monomer and acrylonitrile were used as a diluent for the unsaturated polyester resin. Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKPO) and cobalt octoate (CoOc) were used as a curing agent and an accelerator, respectively. Four kinds of unsaturated polyester resins were prepared according to types of the resin and diluent, and used as a polymer binder in the preparation of the specimen. A total of 16 polymer mortar specimens were prepared according to the added amount of the polymer binder and subjected to a hot water resistance test, followed by compressive and flexural strength tests, and pore and SEM analyses. As a result, it was found that the strength of the specimen using the iso-type unsaturated polyester resin as the polymer binder was better than that of using the ortho-type unsaturated polyester resin. The total pore volume and diameter measured after the hot water resistance test were reduced compared to the values before the test. In the micrographs observed before the hot water resistance test, the polymer binder, filler and fine aggregate were firmly combined to the co-matrix, but the polymer binder was mostly decomposed in the micrographs observed after the test.
