다이옥신 저해능에 대한 삼백초의 지질대사에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Saururus chinensis Baill on Lipid Metabolism Against TCDD Damage)

  • 삼백초가 TCDD 투여로 유발된 rat의 지질대사에 미치는 효과를 알아보기 위해 NTT, TTA, STT군으로 각각 10마리씩 나누어 TCDD를 투여하고 4주 동안 물질을 투여하였다. 4주 후 희생시켜서 혈청과 간의 지질대사를 관찰한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. Total Cholesterol에서 삼백초를 투여한 STT군은 NTT군 비교해서 14.46% 증가하였으며, 혈청 중의 HDL-Cholesterol은 SST군이 TTA군과 비교하여 21.29% 증가하였고 94.98%로 엑제되었다. LDL-Cholesterol에서는 STT군이 TTA군 보다 12.86% 감소하였으며, 48.34%로 억제되었다. 2. 혈청중의 TG의 함량은 TTA군이 NTT군에 비해 34.84% 증가하였다. TTA 군에 비해 STT군은 7.06% 감소하였으며, 18.9% 억제시킨다 3. 간조직 중의 MDA량은 STT군이 TTA군에 비해 17.14% 감소하였고, 32.72%의 억제율을 보였다.

Excessive Dietary Conjugated Linoleic Acid Affects Hepatic Lipid Content and Muscular Fatty Acid Composition in Young Chicks

  • The effects of dietary conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) on lipid concentrations and fatty acid composition of various tissues were studied in young chicks. From 7 days of age, a total of 160 chicks were divided into 4 groups, placed into 4 pens per group (10 birds per pen) and fed one of four experimental diets containing 6% tallow (TO 6%), 4% tallow plus 2% CLA (TO 4%-CLA 2%), 2% tallow plus 4% CLA (TO 2%-CLA 4%) or 6% CLA (CLA 6%) for 3 weeks. There were no significant differences in growth performances and the relative weights of various organs, but relative liver weight of chicks fed dietary CLA at 4 and 6% levels was significantly higher (p<0.05) than that of TO 6% group. The chemical compositions of leg muscle were not affected by CLA feeding. However, hepatic total lipid of chicks fed 6% CLA diet was significantly higher (p<0.05) than those of TO 6% and TO 4%-CLA 2% groups. The concentrations of various lipid fractions in serum were not affected by CLA feeding. With the increase in dietary CLA levels, cis 9-trans 11 CLA, trans 10-cis 12 CLA and total CLA of leg muscle increased linearly. The relative proportions of C18:1 $\omega$ -9 and C20:4 $\omega$-6 fatty acids in the leg muscles of chicks fed the CLA containing diets were significantly lower (p<0.05) than those of TO 6% group. These results indicate that the levels of CLA isomers were increased linearly in dose-dependent manner after feeding of synthetic CLA source. But it was also observed that excessive amount of dietary CLA resulted in the possible adversely effects, such as increase of liver weight, hepatic lipid accumulation and serum GOT level.

하품녹차 열수추출물이 흰쥐의 지질대사 및 칼슘흡수에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Late-harvested Green Tea Extract on Lipid Metabolism and Ca Absorption in Rats)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of late-harvested green tea extract on serum and tissue lipid contents and Ca absorption. Sprague-Dawley male rats weighing 200g were fed high fit diets containing no tea(control), 0.5%(0.5LG), 1.0% late-harvested green tea extract(1.0LG), and 1.0% early-harvested green tea extract(1.0EG) for 4 weeks. Though daily food intake of experimental groups showed no significant difference from that of control group, daily body weight gain and food efficiency ratio were lower in all groups fed green tea extract. The contents of serum triglyceride of 1.0LG and 1.0EG groups and the content of serum total cholesterol of 1.0LG group were significantly lower than those of control group. The values of serum HDL-cholesterol in groups fed green tea extract were higher than that in the control group. LDL-cholesterol and atherogenic indices of all groups fed green tea extract were significantly lower than those of the control group. The contents of total lipid and triglyceride in liver were significantly lower in only 1.0LG group. For epididymal fit pad, the contents of total lipid and triglyceride in 1.0LG and 1.0EG groups were lower than those in the control group. The contents of total lipid excreted in feces were higher in groups fed diets of 1.0% green tea extract. There was no significant difference among experimental groups in Ca absorption. These results suggest that the administration of late-harvested green tea extract decreases the contents of fat in the body without reducing Ca absorption. Isoflavone Content and its Relationship with Other Seed Quality Traits of Soybean Cultivars Collected in South Korea

  • The 117 soybean cultivars were collected from nine provinces in Korea, and various seed quality traits along with isoflavone contents were evaluated to elucidate their relationship. The 100-seed weight of the black soybean (31.2 g) was significantly higher (p<0.05) than yellow soybeans (28.6 g). The composition of genistein, daidzein, and glycitein accounted for 75.8, 22.8, and 1.4 % of total isoflavone in yellow soybean cultivars, while their compositions in black soybeans were 58.5, 39.7, and 1.8%, respectively. The mean contents of total isoflavone in yellow and black soybean were $l,561.6{\mu}g\;g^{-1}\;and\;l,018.3{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$. The isofalvone content showed significant variation among cultivars when classified by the seed size. In the yellow soybeans, total isoflavone content was higher in small size soybean cultivars $(1,776.0{\mu}g\;g^{-1})$ and medium size soybean cultivars $(1,714.3{\mu}g\;g^{-1})$ compared to large size ones $(1,518.5{\mu}g\;g^{-1})$. Genistein content was proved as the major factor determining the relationship between isoflavone content and 100-seed weights (r =-0.206*). Daidzein and glycitein, however, showed no significant relationship with the 100-seed weights. Isoflavone content was not significantly correlated with color parameters L (lightness) and a (redness) values, but color parameter b (yellowness) was positively correlated with glycitein (r=0.264*) in the yellow soybeans, while its negative correlation between daidzein (r=-0.245*) and total isoflavone (r=-0.256*) were observed in black soybeans. However, these findings suggested that the seed color value may not serve as an effective parameter for estimating the isoflavone intensity of the soybeans. Variation of protein and lipid contents between yellow soybeans (n=58) and black soybeans (n=59) was relatively stable, however, protein and lipid contents have no significant relationship with isoflavone content.

식이성 아연과 알코올의 섭취 수준이 흰쥐의 지질 대사에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of the Levels of Dietary Zinc and Alcohol Consumption on Lipid Metabolism in the Rats)

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of the levels of dietary Zn and alcohol consumption on lipid metabolism in Sprague-Dawley male rats weighing 80 to 90g for eight weeks. Ninety rats were divided into nine groups according to Zn levels and alcohol consumption such as no alcohol group[low Zn diet group(<1ppm. LZ) control Zn diet group(30ppm. CZ) high Zn diet group(60ppm, HZ)] 10% alcohol consumption group[the same Zn levels as no alcohol group LZLA, CZLA, HZLA] 20% alcohol consumption group[the same Zn levels as no alcohol group, LZHA, CZHA, HZHA] The results obtained were summarized as following : 1) In the serum total cholesterol increased with increasing dietary Zn levels but decreased with alcohol consumption. HDL-cholesterol decreased with alcohol consumption. Triglyce-ride in alcohol group was higher than no alcohol group. In alcohol group triglyceride increased with decreasing dietary Zn levels. 2) In the liver total lipid in alcohol group was higher than no alcohol group HA group showed a significant increase. Triglyceride increased with alcohol consumption. 3) In the serum and liver Zn content increased with increasing dietary Zn levels but decreased with alcohol consumption.

탄수화물급원의 차이가 흰쥐 체내 지질함량에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Several Carbohydrate Sources on Lipid Metabolism in Cholesterol Fed Rats)

  • The effects of several carbohydrate sources on plasma, liver and fecal lipid contents of rats fed diet containing sucrose, corn starch, brown rice, milled rice or wheat flour with 0.3% cholesterol for four weeks were investigated. Plasma triglyceride and total cholestrol increased significntly in sucrose group, and decreased significantly in milled rice group compared to other three groups. There were no significant differences in plasma lipid contents among corn starch, brown rice and wheat flour groups. The contents of liver triglyceride and cholesterol in brown rice group decreased significantly compared to there four groups. Fecal excretion of total cholesterol in rice and wheat flour groups was significantly higher than in sucrose and corn starch groups. The contents of fecal bile acid increased significantly in milled rice and brown rice groups compared to other three groups. Fecal bile acid content of wheat flour group was similar to those of sucrose and corn starch group. From these results, it is suggested that rice has a possibility of hypolipidemic effect in cholesterol fed rat.

눈꽃동충하초(paecilomyces japonica)추출물의 지질대사 및 당대사에 미치는 영향 (Antidiabetic and Lipid Metabolism Effect of Paediomyces Japonica in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats)

  • This study was carried to investigate the antidiabetic and lipid metabolism of water extract paecilomyces japonica(PJ) in Streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rats. Diabetes were induced by intravenous injection of STZ at a dose of 42mg/kg dissolved in citrate buffer. The water extract of paecilomyces japonica were orally administrated once a day for 7 days at a dose of 500mg/kg or 1,000mg/kg. The contents of serum glucose, triglyceride(TG), total cholesterol were significantly decreased in PJ treated group compared to the those of STZ-control group. The content of hepatic glycogen and activities of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase(G-6-PDH), glucokinase(GK) were significantly increased, but activity of glucose-6-phoshatase(G-6-Pase) was significantly decreased in PJ treated group compared to the those of STZ-control group. These results indicated that water extract of paecilomyces japonica would have antidiabetic and lipid metabolism effect in STZ-induced diabetic rats.

마황(麻黃) 추출물이 항산화에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Ephedras Herba on the activity of antioxidant)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the antioxidative effects of Ephedrae Herba extract. Methods : Total antioxidant status was examined by total antioxidant capacity(TAC), total antioxidant response(TAR) against potent free radical reactions, total phenolic content, DPPH radical scavenging activities, and the inhibitory effect of the extract on lipid peroxidation in rat liver mitochondria. Results : 1. TAC and TAR of Ephedrae Herba extract at the concentration of 5mg/ml were 3.76 and 1.65 mM Trolox equivalents , respectively. 2. Total phenolic content of Ephedrae Herba extract at the concenuation of 5mg/ml was 3.52 mM gallic acid equivalent. 3. Concentration of Ephedrae Herba extract at which DPPH radical scavenging activity was inhibited by 50% was 0.46mg/ml as compared to 100% by pyrogallol solution as a reference. 4. Ephedrae Herba extract at the concentration of 2mg/ml significantly decreased TBARS concentration by 97%, showing that Ephedrae Herba extract prevented lipid peroxidation at the low concentration. Conclusion : Thus antioxidant effects of Ephedrae Herba extract appear to be due to, at least in part, the prevention from free radicalsinduced oxidation, followed by inhibition of lipid peroxidation.

부잠폐수의 성상과 유출 유지의 성분 (Features of Waste Water form By-Product Silk Treatment and Composition of Extracted Lipid)

  • 제사공정의 부잠사 처리폐수에 대하여 그 성상과 추출 유지성분을 분석한 결과 1. 부잠폐수의 COD 605mgO/$\ell$ 총 용존 고형물량 2,335mg/$\ell$ 총 부유 고형물량 2,234mg/$\ell$이었다. 2. 부잠폐수의 지질에는 triglyceride가 76.8%로 가장 많이 함유되었으며 유리 지방산 12.5%와 diglyceride 5.7% free sterol 5.0% 순이었다. 3. 부잠폐수지질의 지방산 조성은 oleic acid, linolenic acid와 linoleic acid의 함유율이 64.93%로 가장 많이 함유되어 있고 palmitic acid 29.39% stearic acid 4.93%의 순이었다.

Effect of onion peel extract supplementation on the lipid profile and antioxidative status of healthy young women: a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, crossover trial

  • The consumption of fruits and vegetables that have high polyphenol content has been previously associated with a reduced risk for cardiovascular disease. We investigated the effects of onion peel extract on plasma total antioxidant capacity, lipid peroxidation, and leukocyte DNA damage. This study was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover trial. Healthy female subjects received either onion peel extract or placebo (dextrin) for two weeks, underwent a 1-week washout period, and then received the other treatment for an additional two weeks. After two weeks of onion peel extract supplementation, the total cholesterol level, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol level, and atherogenic index significantly decreased (P < 0.05). No changes were observed in activities of erythrocyte antioxidant enzymes or levels of lipid peroxidation markers following onion peel extract supplementation. Additionally, no significant difference was found in plasma antioxidant vitamin (retinol, tocopherols, carotenoids, and coenzyme Q10) levels or ex vivo $H_2O_2$-provoked oxidative DNA damage after onion peel extract supplementation. The present interventional study provides evidence of the health benefits of onion peel extract and demonstrates its effects in modulating lipid profiles in healthy young Korean women.
