Design and Analysis of a Novel 16/10 Segmented Rotor SRM for 60V Belt-Driven Starter Generator

  • This paper proposes a novel 16/10 segmented rotor switched reluctance motor (SSRM) for belt-driven starter generators (BSGs). Different from conventional SRMs, the stator of the proposed SSRM consists of two types of stator poles, i.e., exciting and auxiliary poles, and the rotor is constructed from a series of discrete segments. The topology and operation principle of this proposed SSRM are illustrated firstly, and then the design rules are listed. In addition, the finite element method (FEM) is employed to get the static and dynamic characteristics of the proposed SSRM. Finally, the simulation results are presented to show the validity of the proposed SSRM for BSGs.

  • Since pulse energization can improve the performance of Electrostatic Precipitator(ESP) for high resistivity dusts, high voltage micro-pulse generators, 70kV 140usec duration pulses for instance, are commonly developed by LC resonance for most pulse powered ESPs. Consisting of discharge electrodes and collecting electrodes, ESP has its own capacitance like a capacitor. ESP's capacitance affects the LC resonance phenomenon with resonance inductor and capacitor of micro-pulse power supply, engineers should acquire the value of their ESP to design for proper power supply design. Cost-Effective Converters for Micro Wind Turbine Systems using PMSG

  • This paper proposes a low-cost power converter for micro wind turbine systems using permanent magnet synchronous generators (PMSG). The proposed converter consists of a two-leg three-phase PWM inverter for the generator control and a single-phase half-bridge PWM converter which is connected to the utility grid. For the two separate DC-link voltages, a balancing control is added and the adverse effect of the DC-link voltage ripples on the inverter output voltage is compensated. The control performance of the proposed converter topology for the micro wind turbine system is shown by the simulation results using PSIM software.

Eliminating the Third Harmonic Effect for Six Phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generators in One Phase Open Mode

  • To insure stable operation and eliminate twice torque ripple, a topology for a six phase permanent magnet synchronous generator (SP-PMSG) with a neutral point connected together was analyzed in this paper. By adopting an extended transformation matrix, the mathematic model of the space vector control was established. The voltage and torque equations were deduced while considering the third harmonic flux and inductance. In addition, the suppression third harmonic method and the closed loop control strategy were proposed. A comparison analysis indicates that the cooper loss minimum method and the current magnitude minimum method can meet different application requirements. The voltage compensation amount for each of the methods was deduced which also takes into account the third harmonic effect. A simulation and experimental result comparison validates the consistency through theoretical derivation. It can be seen that all of the two control strategies can meet the requirements of post-fault.

  • In this paper, authors deal with a power conditioning system (PCS) of high efficiency for a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) generation system. Fuel cells are a direct current (DC) power generators. They generate electricity through an electrochemical process that converts the energy stored in a fuel directly into electricity. Fuel cells have many benefits, which produce no particulate matter, nitrogen or sulfur oxides. And they have few moving parts and produce little or no noise. When fueled by hydrogen, they yield only heat and water as byproducts. Their wide application can reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and foreign sources of petroleum. This paper studies on a novel PCS circuit topology of high efficiency using in PEMFC generation system The controlling switches in the PCS is operated to soft switching. Some digital simulation results and experimental results for the proposed PCS is confirmed to the validity of the analytical results.

  • For given spaces X and Y, let map(X, Y) and map*(X, Y) be the unbased and based mapping spaces from X to Y, equipped with compact-open topology respectively. Then let map(X, Y ; f) and map*(X, Y ; g) be the path component of map(X, Y) containing f and map*(X, Y) containing g, respectively. In this paper, we compute cohomotopy groups of suspended complex plane πn+mnℂP2) for m = 6, 7. Using these results, we classify path components of the spaces map(ΣnℂP2, Sm) up to homotopy equivalence. We also determine the generalized Gottlieb groups Gn(ℂP2, Sm). Finally, we compute homotopy groups of mapping spaces map(ΣnℂP2, Sm; f) for all generators [f] of [ΣnℂP2, Sm], and Gottlieb groups of mapping components containing constant map map(ΣnℂP2, Sm; *).

  • 연료전지는 연료(수소)의 화학적 반응에 의해 축적된 화학에너지를 전기에너지로 변환하여 직류 전기를 발생시키는 에너지원이다. 연료전지는 질소나 유황산화물 등의 유해한 물질을 방출하지 않으며 기계적 동력부가 없고 거의 무소음으로 운전되는 이점을 가진다. 수소연료에 의한 연료전지는 그들의 부산물로써 열과 물을 방출한다. 연료전지를 이용한 응용분야의 확대로 인해 화석연료나 수입 석유의 의존도를 현저히 감소시킬 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 연료전지 (PEMFC, Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell)의 출력을 치대한 활용하고 발전시스템의 안전운전을 위한 전력변환기(PCS, Power Conditioning System)에 대해 연구하였다. 본 논문에서는 고효율로 운전하는 새로운 전력변환 회로토폴로지를 설계하고, 발전시스템에 적용하여 각종 실험을 통하여 그 타당성을 입증하였다. 그 결과 연료전지 발전시스템은 고성능으로 동작되는 전력변환기에 의해 발전시스템의 효율과 성능을 향상시키게 된다.

OPF with Environmental Constraints with Multi Shunt Dynamic Controllers using Decomposed Parallel GA: Application to the Algerian Network

  • Due to the rapid increase of electricity demand, consideration of environmental constraints in optimal power flow (OPF) problems is increasingly important. In Algeria, up to 90% of electricity is produced by thermal generators (vapor, gas). In order to keep the emission of gaseous pollutants like sulfur dioxide (SO2) and Nitrogen (NO2) under the admissible ecological limits, many conventional and global optimization methods have been proposed to study the trade-off relation between fuel cost and emissions. This paper presents an efficient decomposed Parallel GA to solve the multi-objective environmental/economic dispatch problem. At the decomposed stage the length of the original chromosome is reduced successively and adapted to the topology of the new partition. Two subproblems are proposed: the first subproblem is related to the active power planning to minimize the total fuel cost, and the second subproblem is a reactive power planning design based in practical rules to make fine corrections to the voltage deviation and reactive power violation using a specified number of shunt dynamic compensators named Static Var Compensators (SVC). To validate the robustness of the proposed approach, the algorithm proposed was tested on the Algerian 59-bus network test and compared with conventional methods and with global optimization methods (GA, FGA, and ACO). The results show that the approach proposed can converge to the near solution and obtain a competitive solution at a critical situation and within a reasonable time.

파력발전용 30kW 계통연계형 PCS 제어 (Control of 30kW Grid-Connected PCS for Wave Power Generation)

  • 본 논문에서는 진동수주형(OWC: Oscillating Water Column) 파력발전시스템을 위한 30kW 급 계통연계형 PCS(Power Conversion System)을 다룬다. 해양에너지 중 파력 발전은 삼면이 바다인 반도의 특성을 지닌 한국에 적용하기 적합하고 연안재해 시 파력 발전기가 방파제 역할을 하여 피해를 감소시킬 수 있고, 다른 해상 발전과 개발 대상 적지가 일치하므로 통합하여 효율을 증대 시킬 수 있다. 파력발전 방식은 작동 원리에 따라 가동 물체형과 진동수주형, 월파형 등 여러 형태로 구분하며, 설치 형태에 따라 고정식과 부유식으로 구분된다. 본 논문에서는 구조적으로 안정되고 터빈과 발전기의 유지 보수가 비교적 쉬운 진동수주형을 채택하여, 파력발전용 30kW 계통연계형 PCS 토폴로지 및 모델을 제안하고 계통에 안정적으로 전압을 공급할 수 있는 DC link 전압 제어 등 계통연계 시 필요한 제어방법에 대해 설명하였다. 또한 이를 검증하기 위해 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다.
