Multitemporal interferometric SAR has became an useful geodetic tool for monitoring Earth's surface deformation, generation of precise DEM, and land cover classification even though there still exist certain constraints such as temporal and spatial decorrelation effects, atmospheric artifacts and inaccurate orbit information. The Korea where nearly all areas are heavily vegetated, JERS-1 SAR has advantages in monitoring surface deformations and environmental changes in that it uses 4-times longer wavelength than ERS-l/2 or RADARSAT SAR system. For generating differential SAR interferogram and differential coherence image fer deformation mapping and temporal change detection, respectively, topographic phase removal process is required utilizing a reference inteferogram or external DEM simulation. Because the SAR antenna baseline parameter for JERS-1 is less accurate than those of ERS-l/2, one can not estimate topographic phases from an external DEM and the residual phase appears in differential interferogram. In this paper, we examined topographic phase retrieval method utilizing an external DEM. The baseline refinement is carried out by minimizing the differences between the measured unwrapped phase and the reference points of the DEM.
MAI (multiple aperture SAR interferometry) method has been recently developed to improve the measurement accuracy of along-track surface deformation. By means of split-beam SAR processing, this novel technique produces forward- and backward-looking interferograms, which are combined to generate an MAI interferogram. The along-track surface deformation can then be derived from the MAI interferogram. The achieved accuracy of the along-track surface deformation is approximately 8 cm for interferograms with a coherence of 0.6. It is commonly recognized that the topographic phase on an MAI interferogram can be ignored. However, in this paper, we have generated an MAI interferogram from an ALOS P ALSAR interferometric pair spanning the 2010 Haiti earthquake, and shown that the topographic phase distortion on the MAI interferogram can reach to about $3.45{\times}10^{-4}$ rad./m. This distortion corresponds to an along-track surface deformation of about 98 cm. We have proposed an efficient method to remove the topographic phase distortion. After correcting the distortion, the topographic phase distortion on the MAI interferogram is reduced to about $7.82{\times}10^{-6}$ rad./m. This means that the proposed method can effectively remove the topographic distortion on the MAI interferogram to improve along-track surface deformation measurement.
Radar interferometric phase is sensitive to both ground topography and coherent surface displacement. The basic tactics of differential interferometric synthetic aperture radar (DInSAR) technique are to separate the two effects. Applications of DInSAR to Duk-Po area in Busan were studied. In the study area, an abrupt subsidence, possibly caused by sub-way construction, was observed by JERS-1 SAR interferometry. Differential interferograms were generated using twenty-three JERS-1 SAR data acquired between April 24, 1992, and August 7, 1998. Because the area is relatively flat with little topographic relief the topographic effects were not removed. A phase filtering and interferogram techniques were applied to increase fringe clarity as well as to decrease decorrelation error. The stacking improves the quality of interferograms especially when the displacement is discontinuous. The interferograms clearly show the evidence of subsidence along Duk-Po subway railroad. These results demonstrate that the interferogram stacking technique can improve the detectability of radar interferometry to an abrupt displacement and DInSAR is useful to geological engineering applications.

Interferometry SAR (InSAR) is a technique to generate topographic map from complex data pairs observed by antennas at different locations. However, to obtain topographic information using InSAR is difficult task because it requires series of complicated process including phase unwrapping and precise recovery of the SAR geometry. Especially, accuracy of the DEM (Digital Elevation Model) produced by repeat pass single SAR pair could be influenced by atmospheric effect. Recently, a new InSAR technique to improve accuracy of DEM has been introduced that utilizes low resolution DEM with a number of SAR image pairs. The coarse DEM plays an important role in reducing phase unwrapping error caused by layover and satellite orbit error. In this study, we implemented DInSAR (Differential InSAR) method which combines low resolution DEMs and ERS tandem pair images. GTOPO30 DEM with 1km resolution, SRTM-3 DEM with 100m resolution, and DEM with 10m resolution derived from 1:25,000 digital vector map were used to investigate feasibility of DInSAR. The accuracy of the DEMs generated both by InSAR and DInSAR was evaluated.
We present an ultrahigh-resolution full-field optical coherence tomography (FF-OCT) implemented with a white-light interference microscope and a detector array as an alternative OCT technique. The use of detector array allows the capture of two-dimensional en-face images in parallel without taking any lateral scanning process. The phase shifting interferometric technique with the sinusoidal phase modulation (SPM) is utilized to get the demodulated OCT images. The configuration of the system and the resolution of the obtained image are presented. The topographic images, taken with the implemented system, of a coin, an integrated circuit chip, and the tomographic images of an onion epithelium are demonstrated also. Axial and lateral spatial resolution of ${\sim}1.0{\mu}m$ and ${\sim}2.0{\mu}m$ are achieved with the system respectively.

Many rainfall-runoff model, which is applied discharge calculation for effective water-resource planning and management needs topographic and parameter of basin character. But it is very difficult to apply real a phase. Accordingly in this study filling up these problems. Applying GIS(geographic information system) through environment creating input data or concerning with GIS and rainfall runoff model. We built environment that analyze hydrograph showing discharge variation by time. GIS software for constructing input data is used by ArcView. For analysis of hydrograph in Basin, TOPMODEL applied topographic index. Besides for estimate of appliance to rainfall-runoff model, simple storm event and complex storm event are applied rainfall data which was before.
Hydrological characteristics would be utilized to apply such as hydrologic modelling or basin management. This study is to extract hydrological characteristics through DEM and stream network analysis using a hydrologic unit map and digital topographic map in Milyang river basin. OEM and stream network was generated from digital topographic map. Especially stream network was allowed direction, stream order, and topology. As a result of the study, it shows that Milyang river has been changing geologically mature stage into old phase and the landform of Milyang river correspond to Horton-Strahler's law on morphology of stream. This methodology can be applicable to other areas related to hydrological characteristics with vector data.

The magnetotelluric (MT) survey can be affected by external environmental factors. In particular, when acquiring MT data in islands, it is essential to consider the combined effect of topography and sea to understand the results and make accurate interpretations. To analyze the MT response (apparent resistivity, phase) with consideration of the effect of topography and sea, a small cone-shaped island model surrounded by deep sea was created. Two-dimensional (2-D) and three-dimensional (3-D) forward modeling were performed on the terrain model considering topography and the island model considering both topography and sea. The 2-D MT response did not reflect the topographic and sea effect of the direction orthogonal to the 2-D profile. The 3-D MT response included topographic and sea effects in all directions. The XY and YX components of the apparent resistivity were separated on undulating topography, such as a hill. A conductor at 1 km below sea level could be distinguished from topographic and sea effects in the MT response, and low resistivity anomaly was attenuated at greater depths. This study will facilitate understanding of field data measured on small islands.

SAR interferometry (InSAR) is a technique to generate 3-Dimentional spatial information using complex data pairs observed by antennas at different locations. In case of the Two-pass differential SAR inteferometry (DInSAR), the topographic phase signature can be separated from the contribution of surface deformation in the interferometric phase. In this study, InSAR and DInSAR were implemented with ERS- l/2 tandem pair to produce DEM. The accuracy of the Resulting DEMs was analyzed.
Electrical stimulation through retinal prosthesis elicits both short and long-latency retinal ganglion cell (RGC) spikes. Because the short-latency RGC spike is usually obscured by electrical stimulus artifact, it is very important to isolate spike from stimulus artifact. Previously, we showed that topographic prominence (TP) discriminator based algorithm is valid and useful for artifact subtraction. In this study, we compared the performance of forward backward (FB) filter only vs. TP-adopted FB filter for artifact subtraction. From the extracted retinae of rd1 mice, we recorded RGC spikes with $8{\times}8$ multielectrode array (MEA). The recorded signals were classified into four groups by distances between the stimulation and recording electrodes on MEA (200-400, 400-600, 600-800, $800-1000{\mu}m$). Fifty cathodic phase-$1^{st}$ biphasic current pulses (duration $500{\mu}s$, intensity 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, $60{\mu}A$) were applied at every 1 sec. We compared false positive error and false negative error in FB filter and TP-adopted FB filter. By implementing TP-adopted FB filter, short-latency spike can be detected better regarding sensitivity and specificity for detecting spikes regardless of the strength of stimulus and the distance between stimulus and recording electrodes.
