Delayed stem senescence of soybean is a phenomenon of retarded leaf and stem yellowing, where plants maintain a high stem water content and remain chlorophyll in leaf and stem at maturity stage. This phenomenon was one of the most important physiological disease in Japanese soybean cultivation. The occurrence of delayed stem senescence was affected by sowing time. And the most of Japanese field, soybean seeds were sowed in June. June is the rainy season in Japan, and the soil water content of field become higher in this season. In this study, the effects of late sowing (July sowing) on the yield and the occurrence of delayed stem senescence in soybean cultivars Enrei, Tachinagaha and Ayakogane were examined from 2013 to 2015, in the experimental farm at Nihon University (Fujisawa-city, Kanagawa, Japan). The seeds of all cultivars were sowed in June (June-normal density plot) or July (July-normal density plot, July-high density plot and July-super high density plot) in field experiment. The pot experiments were carried out in 2014. In all cultivars, the yield of July-high density plot and July-super high density were higher than that of June normal density plot. And the yield of June-normal density plot was the same as that of July-normal density plot. In all cultivars, the occurrence of delayed stem senescence was increased by seeding in June sowing. And in July sowing plots, no significance difference in the occurrence of delayed stem senescence was observed among density plots. One of reason about the increasing the occurrence of delayed stem senescence in June-normal plot was the increasing of the damaged seeds by bean bugs. Add one of reason about the decreasing of the occurrence of delayed stem senescence of July plots was the decreasing of the amount of cytokinin supplied from root to top and water stress after the flowering time was improved compared with the June plot. In conclusion, the yield of Enrei, Tachinagaha and Ayakogane were not changed by changing the sowing time from June to July. In all cultivars, the occurrence of delayed stem senescence were decreasing by seeding in July.
These experiments were conducted to investigate variation of physical characteristics of the culm related to lodging resistance by nitrogen levels under direct seeding on flooded paddy surface. The number of seedling per m$^2$ were from 103 to 110 plants, and seedling ratios were ranged from 66.7% to 71.2%. The lodging occurrence were increased in order to the nitrogen levels 15 kg, 10 kg, 5 kg /10a, and the lodging resistant varieties ; Dongjinbyeo and Cheongmyungbyeo showed less values of field lodging than those of lodging susceptible varieties ; Daecheongbyeo, Palgongbyeo and H waseongbyeo. The lodging resistance was decreased in semidwarf varieties compare with long culm varieties, but Dongjinbyeo, long culm variety has lodging resistance. The occurrence of lodging decreased with lower values in top moment, but with higher values in the breaking moment with leaf sheath. The root dry weight positively correlated with weight of culm base, but modulus of section was negatively correlated with bending curvature, respectively.

.It is very importaut to know the water consumption of crops in planning irrigation works and practicing suitable soil moisture management. For the purpose of making it clear that how much water be consumed to cultivate the Chinese cabbage, Chamber method has been applied. Main equipments in the transpiration chamber are flowers, manometer and electric thermograph. The chamber made of vynyl plate has a small entrance at the base and an exit at the top, and the ventilation in the chamber was carried out by a flower through the entrance and exit. Air-flow adjusted by an orifice manometer enters the chamber from the outside over the crop canopy through the pipe like a chimney and finally goes out to the outside. Two sets which consist of a pair of dry and wet bulb made by thermistor are installed in the entrance and exit tube, and record air temperature automatically. Evapotranspiration amount is computed from the air-flow quantity and difference in absolute humidity between at the entrance and exit of the chamber by the following equation: ET=(X2-X1)${\times}$Q where ET=evapotranspiration amount X1=absolute humidity at the entrance(g/㎥) X2=absolute humidity at the exit(g/㎥) Q=air-flow quantity(㎥) This study was carried out at the upland farm of the Institute of Agriculture Engimeering and Utilization, Suwon, Korea. from 1971 to 1973. The results obtained in this experiment are as follows: 1. The total amount of evapotranspiration of Chinese Cabbage that is cultivated in autumn is 408.1mm during growth period. 2. Chinese cabbage rapidly grows up in the second ten days of September, 40th to 50th days after seeding. At the same time, the maximum amount of evaportranspiration of Chinese cabbage is 61.6mm/10 days 3. The correlation between Pan-evaporation and evapotranspiration is high, coefficient of correlation r=0.88**, and can be shown as The following regression equation: ET=0.913E+20.273 4. Evapotranspiration is closely related with meteorological factors: r=0.85**, for insolation, r=0.76** for air temperature, respectively. 5. The percentage of evapotranspiration amount, at the beginning of growth stage, gradually increases in proportion as the Chinese Cabbage grows but is largely affected by meteorological factors after the green cover formation. 6. By Blaney and Griddle formula, evaportranspiration coefficient "K" are within from 0,85 to 1.27.
The present study was undertaken to investigate the crystal growth onto human enamel mineral and synthetic hydroxyapatite(HA) seeds in media resembling the enamel fluid composition. Effects of fluoride at high concentrations on the precipitation were also examined in a bench-top crystal growth model adopting a miniaturized reaction column. The Ca, P and F concentrations and pH values of the inlet and outlet solutions were determined. The recovered solid samples were weighed to assess the amount of minerals precipitated during the experimental period, and finally viewed under a scanning electron microscope. Remarkable findings were that 1) both biological and synthetic seeds with the same total surface areas yielded similar amounts of crystal growth, 2) the amount of crystal growth was accelerated in a manner depending on fluoride concentrations in the media, 3) SEM observations disclosed that without the addition of fluoride, precipitation of thin, plate-like OCP crystals became prominent, but by increasing the fluoride concentration(beyond 1ppm F), rod-like crystals having a pointed edge were most frequently observed, without any evidence for precipitation of the plate-like crystals. Furthermore, the dimension of rod-like crystals was increased in proportion to fluoride concentrations, 4) there was no difference in the morphological feature of precipitated mineral phase upon seeding between human enamel seed and synthetic HA seed. The overall results support the view that the seeded crystal growth model is of value to gain insight into the mechanism of enamel crystal growth under fluoride regimens.
The random amplified polymorphic DNAs (RAPD) technique was used to characterize the genetic relationship of five species from in the family of Veneridae which is one of the commercially important clam family in Korea. The veneride clams' DNA were extracted from adductor muscular by the proteinase K-phenol method. Among 20 primers, 15 unit primers were amplified and produced at least, 2 or 3 from the top band. Genetic similarity between the purplish washington, Saxidomus purpuratus and the hard clam, Meretrix lusoria was the highest (0.87); the lowest genetic similarity (0.46) was formed between the little clam, Ruditapes philppinarum and the purplish washington, S. purpuratus. The genetic relationship between the venus clam, Protothaca jedoensis and the little clam, R. philppinarum was a closer than those between others. These results may indicate that the method of artificial seeding production of P. jedoensis for the propagation of resources can be focused on R. philppinarum.
Growth differences in Caulerpa okamurae thallus parts and the effects of apex removal on growth were examined. Erect fronds, stolons, and erect fronds with stolons (erect+stolon) were grown for 14 days, whereas erect fronds without and with apex removal (-A and +A fronds, respectively), were grown for 25 days. The relative growth rates (RGR) of C. okamurae thallus parts ranged from 1.91% to 4.93% day-1 with maximal and minimal RGR for the stolon and erect+stolon treatments, respectively. Over the 25 days in culture, the -A fronds showed a higher RGR (2.48% day-1) than the +A fronds (1.96% day-1). More new erect fronds and stolons were produced by -A fronds than those by +A fronds. In addition, basal cutting of erect C. okamurae fronds resulted in a greater plant length increase than that obtained from top cutting. These findings indicate that vegetative growth is common in C. okamurae, which has excellent wound healing ability, and cutting damage to erect fronds may stimulate enhanced vegetative growth. Thus, we suggest that stolons and erect fronds of C. okamurae could be used as seeding materials for large scale cultivation. Furthermore, this edible species could be a potential seaweed resource for rapid skin regeneration cosmetics.
Effects of the nitrogen application time and amounts on the nitroger. uptake and recovery of fertilizer nitrogen applied at panicle formation stage was investigated in connection with the growth and yield of rice drill-seeded in puddle-soil. silt loam of Jeonbuk series. Urea was applied as nitrogen source. Nitrogen uptake and recovery of fertilizer nitrogen by rice plant was highest in the treatment applied nitrogen at 20 days before heading. Culm length, internode length (4th and 5th) and lodging index were increased by earlier application time and higher level of nitrogen. but filled grain ratio and 1,000 grain weight showed the opposite trend Panicle number per square meter and grain number per panicle was significantly decreased in nitrogen application at 10 days before heading. Rice yield was the highest in 33kgN/ha(conventional amount at 20days before heading, and yield in 26kgN/ha(80% of conventional amount) at 20 days before heading and in 33kg/ha at 15days before heading were nearly the same as conventional treatment.

$GdBa_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$(Gd123) powders were synthesized by the solid-state reaction method using $Gd_2O_3$ (99.9% purity), $BaCO_3$ (99.75%) and CuO (99.9%) powders. The synthesized Gd123 powder and the Gd123 powder with $Gd_2O_3$ addition ($Gd_{1.5}Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$(Gd1.5)) were used as raw powders for the fabrication of Gd123 bulk superconductors. The Gd123 and Gd1.5 bulk superconductors were fabricated by sintering or a top-seeded melt growth (TSMG) process. The superconducting transition temperature ($T_{c,onset}$) of the sintered Gd123 was 93 K and the transition width was as large as 20 K. The $T_{c,onset}$ of the TSMG processed Gd123 was 82 K and the transition width was also as large as 12 K. The critical current density ($J_c$) at 77 K and 0 T of the sintered Gd123 and TSMG processed Gd123 were as low as a few hundreds A/$cm^2$. The addition of 0.25 mole $Gd_2O_3$ and 1 wt.% $CeO_2$ to Gd123 enhanced the $T_c$, $J_c$ and magnetic flux density (H) of the TSMG processed Gd123 sample owing to the formation of the superconducting phase with high flux pinning capability. The $T_c$ of the TSMG processed Gd1.5 was 92 K and the transition width was 1 K. The $J_cs$ at 77 K (0 T and 2 T) were $3.2{\times}10^4\;A/cm^2$ and $2.5{\times}10^4\;A/cm^2$, respectively. The H at 77 K of the TSMG-processed Gd1.5 was 1.96 kG, which is 54% of the applied magnetic field (3.45 kG).
The effect of carbofuran (2, 3-Dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-benzofuran-7-ylmethyl carbamate) on rice growth was evaluated as a direct growth stimulant of rice. For this, several laboratory and field trials conducted from 1981 to 1986 at the Yeongnam Crop Experiment Station. Carbofuran solution affected the germination of rice seed. The growth of seminal roots was adversely affected by the increase of carbofuran concentrations while the length of single root became longer with the concentration increment up to 50 ppm. Carbofuran application (0.18g ai/$m^2$) at the rice nurserybed significantly enhanced the rice growth and recovered from the Low temperature damage. The enhancement effect was more pronounced at the plot that applied carbofuran before rice seeding as soil incorporation than top-dressing. The effect of growth enhancement further extended to transplanted lowland rice. This effect was greater at double cropping area (late of June transplanting) compared to single cropping area (May transplanting). Among important agronomic traits, the increment of panicle number was the most important direct effect for increasing rice grain yield by carbofuran application. Carbofuran application also exhibited the reducing effect against low temperature damage at reductive division stage and at rice heading stage and against submergence damage at booting stage through enhancement of fertile grain ratio, ripening ratio or photosynthetic activity.
Rice bakanae disease, caused by the fungus Fusarium fujikuroi, is one of the most important rice diseases and distributed widely in Asia. Resistance screening system in rice field had been established. However, the evaluation results of the system vary according to the environmental conditions when the test is conducted. To develop precise and rapid evaluation method of disease resistance of rice to bakanae disease, in vitro screening system was attempted in this study. The six cultivars namely, 'Nampyeongbyeo', 'Junambyeo', 'Chucheongbyeo', 'Samcheonbyeo', 'Odaebyeo' and 'Hwasinbyeo' were tested. They were planted onto MS agar medium (10 ml) in test tube ($450\;mm{\times}{\phi}30\;mm$) and incubated at $25^{\circ}C$ and $28^{\circ}C$ in growth chamber under 12 hr light condition. Symptoms of over growth appeared a few days after seeding and then seedling were withered 2-3 weeks after over growth. The disease symptoms such as leaf dryness on top of rice were appeared in the 'Nampyeongbyeo' from 28 days at the concentration of $10^5$ spores/ml culturing at $28^{\circ}C$ and then withered completely 35 days after seeding. Whereas the other varieties withered entirely 19-23 days after seeding. Using the in vitro seedling screening method, 72 rice varieties were investigated to select resistant cultivar. Finally, two resistant cultivars ('Nampyeongbyeo' and 'Inwolbyeo') and seven moderately resistant cultivars ('Hwadongbyeo', 'Seokjeongbyeo', 'Samgwangbyeo', 'Sampyeongbyeo', 'Nonghobyeo', 'Heukjinjubyeo' and, 'Joanbyeo') were selected. If in vitro seedling screening method was used for evaluation of bakanae disease resistance, it would be completed within 35 days after sowing of rice seed.
