  • In this study, Indium-Titanium hydroxide particle with 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 wt% of $TiO_2$ were synthesized by sol process and adding the base, ITiO(Indium Titanium Oxide) particles were obtained by gelling at $200^{\circ}C$ and $500^{\circ}C$. The ITiO particle's size with gel process at $200^{\circ}C$ was smaller than ITiO particle's size with gel process $500^{\circ}C$. The ITiO particle with gel process at $200^{\circ}C$ was used to fabricate dense ITiO target. ITiO targets with 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 wt% of $TiO_2$ were fabricated and used to obtain ITiO thin films onto glass by sputtering. Among those sputtered ITiOs' thin films, ITiO thin film with 0.4 % of $O_2$ and 0.5 wt% of $TiO_2$ showed the lowest specific resistance, highest charge mobility and lowest carrier concentration. It was found the light transmittance of the ITiO film were increased highly compared to light transmittance of ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) thin film over Infrared wavelength ranges.

  • Powders and thin-layers of a hexagonal titanium disulfide phase have been successfully prepared by modifying the sol-gel process. The reaction of titanium isopropoxide with hydrogen sulfide causes the precipitation of a precursor which was converted to the disulfide on heat-treatment in $H_2S$ at various temperatures depending on the solvent adopted, whereas that of titanium 2-methoxyethoxide with $H_2S$ produces a stable solution which was spin-casted onto silicon substrates followed by thermolysis to give thin films. Upon heat-treatment in $H_2S$, the disulfides show interesting morphological variations in the form of their powders and thin films, which were characterized by SEM and X-ray diffractometer.

  • Although para-aramid fibers poss higher mechanical properties, they show very low resistance to sunlight exposure. This paper studied on the effect of nano-sol coated $TiO_2$ to improve the photo-stability of p-aramid fibers. Titanium dioxides were prepared by sol-gel method from titanium iso-propoxide at different R ratio ($H_2O$/titanium iso-propoxide). All samples were characterized by XRD, TEM and UV-vis spectrometer. The mechanical properties of p-aramid fabrics by $TiO_2$ nano-sol coating before and after sunlight irradiation were measured with tensile tester. XRD pattern of titanium dioxide particles was observed by mixing phase together with rutile and anatase type. The results showed, after sunlight irradiation, the decreased mechanical properties of the fiber. Furthermore, the sunlight irradiation obviously deteriorated the surface and defected areas of the fiber severely by photo-induced chain scission and end group oxidation in air.

  • In this study, an organic-inorganic hybrid composite of Abaca nanocellulose and titanium dioxide was prepared. Abaca nanocellulose was prepared by oxidizing Abaca cellulose using TEMPO (2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-piperidine-1-oxyl) as a catalyst. Titanium dioxide nanoparticles were prepared by the sol-gel method, and a composite was prepared by hybridizing them with nanocellulose. As a result of comparing the properties of the composite and its physical properties according to the change in manufacturing pH, the effect of pH was very large when combining nanocellulose and titanium dioxide, and the optimal bonding performance was shown at pH 8 in this experimental condition. In addition, the prepared composite showed photocatalytic properties, and the higher the content of titanium dioxide, the higher the hydrophilicity of the composite according to UV light irradiation.

  • The systematic modification of titanium(IV) isopropoxide with acetic acid as a organic additive was done and identifided by FT-IR, $^1H$, $^{13}C$ NMR and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The structure was cbanged after hydrolysis-condensation reaction and drying process. The hydrolysis-condensation rates of modified Ti alkoxide with acetic acid were investigated by $^1H$ NMR spectroscopy. This modified Ti(IV) alkoxide was less reactive toward hydrolysis-condensation reaction than $Ti(OPr^i)_4$, which can be attributed to the stable ligand structure between Ti alkoxide and ligand. The structural change on obtained from gel powders with heat treatment was also observed by FT-IR spectroscopy.

  • Titanium dioxide particles with three different average sizes, prepared by three different methods, were incorporated into silica gel pores by impregnation. The titanium dioxide incorporated into the silica gel pores was photoionized by 240-400 nm irradiation at 77 K by a one-photon process to from trapped hole centers on OH group and trapped electron centers on titanium which were detected by electron paramagnetic resonance at 77 K. During the impregnation the smallest size range of TiO2 particles can be incorporated into silica gels with 2.5-1.5 nm pores. However, the largest size range of TiO2 particles can only be incorporated into silica gels with 6-15 nm pores and not into silica gels with 2.5-4 nm pores. The photoyield and stability of photoinduced hole and electron centers depends on the silica pore sizes of silica gels and surface area as well as on the TiO2 loading. In large pore silica gels and large particle size of TiO2, photoinduced charge separation reaches to a plateau at shorter irradiation times and the trapped hole and electron centers are more stable to decay.

  • This paper presents a study on the photocatalytic reaction about the composite particles of $TiO_2$-coated phosphors under visible light irradiation. Nanocrystalline titanium dioxide layers were directly coated on the alkaline earth aluminate phosphor, $CaAl_2O_4:Eu^{2+},\;Nd^{3+}$ particles by an sol-gel processing method. The photocatalytic reaction was analyzed with the degradation of methylene blue (MB) aqueous solution under UV and visible light irradiations. $TiO_2$-coated phosphor powders showed different photocatalytic mechanism, compared with pure $TiO_2$ (P-25, Degussa). Under UV-irradiation, $TiO_2$-coated phosphor powders showed slow photocatalytic reactivity in the early stage and fast in the latter, compared with that of pure $TiO_2$. However, $TiO_2$-coated phosphor powders showed much faster photocatalytic reactivity than that of pure $TiO_2$ under visible irradiation. In addition, the characterizations of the $TiO_2$-coated phosphor powders were conducted by a X-ray diffractometer (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS).

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate whether fluorides at various pH cause changes in the surface roughness of titanium implants that alter the adherence of bacterial biofilms. Materials and Methods: The titanium disks were assigned randomly to the following seven groups according to the fluoride agents and application time (1 minute or 30 minute) used: control (no treatment); group 1 (1.23% acidulated phosphate fluoride [APF] at pH 3.5 for 1 minute); group 2 (1.23% APF at pH 3.5 for 30 minute); group 3 (1.23% APF at pH 4.0 for 1 minute); group 4 (1.23% APF at pH 4.0 for 30 minute); group 5 (2% NaF gel at pH 7.0 for 1 minute); group 6 (2% NaF gel at pH 7.0 for 30 minute). The surface roughness of the titanium disks and the amount of adherent bacteria were measured. Results: Group 2 showed a significantly greater surface roughness than the control group (P < 0.0001). No significant differences in the amount of surface bacteria were observed between the treated samples and the controls. In addition, there were no significant differences in bacterial adherence relative to the incubation period between the treated samples and the controls. Conclusion: The surface roughness of the titanium disks was significantly greater after treatment with APF at pH 3.5 for 30 min compared with that of the controls. In addition, we found that the amount of Porphyromonas gingivalis, Fusobacterium nucleatum, and Aggregatibactor actinomycetemcomitans was similar among all groups

  • In this study, spherical $pre-BaTiO_3$ particles are prepared by gelation and aging process in autoclave without catalysts. The (Ba-Ti) gel used as a starting material was prepared by aging mixtures of titanyl acylate with barium acetate aqueous solution([glacial acetic acid (AcOH)]/[titanium isopropoxide (TIP)] 4, [barium acetate]/[TIP] 1) at $45^{\circ}C$ for 48hrs. XRD and SEM results for the (Ba-Ti) gel sample at aging process showed that the gel was formed via aggregation of the fine particles. It seems to be the primary particles of bulk (Ba-Ti) gel amorphous, but the spatial arrangement of barium and titanium in the (Ba-Ti) gel is similar to that in crystalline $BaTiO_3$ particles. From XRD and FT-IR. spectroscopy analysis it was found that the crystal structure of the prepared particles continuously transformed from amorphous to tetragonal as the calcination temperature increased, and crystallized spherical cubic and tetragonal $BaTiO_3$ powder obtained at the very low calcination temperature between $500^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$ after 1hrs of heat treatment respectively. According to BET analysis result, final particle have pore structure of ink bottle shape which is produced by aggregation of fine spherical particles with surface area of $280m^2/g$ and average pore size of 130nm.
