Objective: This research analyzed behavioral characteristics of Hanwoo (Bos taurus coreanae) steers during each season and growth stage to enable measurement of the animals' welfare level for precision livestock farming. Methods: A hundred-eight beef steers were divided into three equal groups at a Hanwoo farm according to their growth stage: growing stage (GS), 8 months; early-fattening stage (EFS), 19 months; and late-fattening stage (LFS), 30 months. Twelve behavioral categories were continuously recorded for 13 day-time hours in each four seasons with three replications. Results: Time spent standing was found to be significantly longer in summer at all growth stages (p<0.05). Hanwoos at the GS spent significantly longer standing time in spring and summer than those at the EFS and LFS (p<0.05). Lying time in summer was the shortest for all growth stages (p<0.05). Steers at the LFS spent significantly longer lying time than that at the GS (p<0.05) in summer. For GS and EFS, time spent eating in spring and autumn were longer than in summer and winter (p<0.05). Eating time was the longest for the GS in spring, autumn, and winter, excluding for the LFS in winter (p<0.05). Regarding ruminating, steers at the LFS spent significantly shorter time than those at other stages in all seasons (p<0.05). GS and EFS steers showed the longest walking time in summer compared with other seasons (p<0.05). At GS and LFS, drinking time in summer was the longest of all seasons (p<0.05). Sleeping time was significantly shorter in summer compared with the other seasons (p<0.05). Self-grooming time was the longest in winter for all growth stages (p<0.05). Conclusion: Steers were found to have more variable behavioral patterns during summer and the GS and less active behaviors during the LFS, thus extra care seems necessary during the GS, LFS, and summer period.

Hold-up time is a special requirement for the front end DC/DC converter in a server power supply. It forces the converter with the variable switching frequency to operate in a wide switching frequency range, which makes the regulation difficult and reduces the power density. In this paper a novel frequency controlled half bridge converter with the hold-up time extension circuit is proposed. During the hold-up time, the auxiliary switches are turned on, thus the resonant inductance is reduced and the voltage conversion ratio is increased. Therefore, the output capacitor of the power factor correction (PFC) circuit can be decreased, and the converter can have high power density. The proposed converter is verified by experimental results from a prototype with 700W, 400V input, and 12V output.

CFD method has been coupled with a time-marching free-wake model by usingfield velocity approach suggested by J. D. Baeder (Ref. 1). The coupled method hasbeen applied to rectangular and BERP-like blades and the calculated perfonnance dataare compared with the experimental results. For hovering analysis, the present method could yield sufficiently good resultswith reasonable computation time and is particularly suitable for the flow fieldanalysis with the complex shaped blade.
The laboratory time for students in engineering has to be managed in that way that it provides students width maximal practice hours. However, it usually takes too much time to learn basic knowledge for the experiment and the directions of the equipment. In this paper, we introduce the web contents which students can study basic knowledge the directions of the equipment without regard to time or place. As the result that we let students study the contents before the class, they were easily adapted to handle the equipments for the experiment so that we can revise their execution abilities. And also there were effects such as reducing the total experiment's time and a rate of damage of equipment.
We propose a blind feedforward phase noise mitigation method in the time-domain for a coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) systems. By exploiting the redundancy of the cyclic prefix (CP), the proposed scheme acquires the overall phase noise difference information during an OFDM block and attempts to mitigate the phase noise in the time domain using a linear approximation. The proposed algorithm mitigates common phase error (CPE) and inter-carrier-interference (ICI) due to phase noise simultaneously, improving the system performance, especially when decision-directed equalizers are used. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed feedforward phase noise mitigation approach in time domain.
Objectives: Exposure to hazardous air pollutants could be affected by sociodemographic factors such as age, gender and more. Information on time spent in microenvironments has a critical role in exposure assessment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the exposure pathways which influence personal exposure through time-activity patterns and sociodemographic factors. Methods: A total of 379 subjects were collected from the second term of the Korean National Environmental Health Survey. A questionnaire survey in relation to sociodemographic factors and a time-activity diary were carried out for personal exposure to toluene. Focusing on personal exposure to toluene, factors affecting personal exposure were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. Results: Participants spent their time in an indoor house for $16.8{\pm}4.0hr$, workplace or school $2.3{\pm}3.5hr$, and other indoor $2.1{\pm}2.2hr$. Sociodemographic factors were significantly different among each personal exposure and microenvironment. Time of staying at an office turned out to be a main factor from point of exposure in exposure pathway using multiple regression analysis. As a result, this means that exposure may be different according to the time of staying in each microenvironment. Conclusions: Personal exposure to air pollutants might be decided by time-activity pattern indicating when, where, and which activities people pursue, as well as individual sociodemographic factors.

Since the TD-SCDMA (Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) system is based on TDD (Time Division Duplexing), the uplink and downlink can be allocated asymmetrically according to the traffic e.g. Web browsing. Although this asymmetric allocation can increase the frequency utilization, it may cause time slot opposing, which implies the time slot is assigned in opposing direction between cells. The time slot opposing can generate significant interference between cells, which results in severe performance degradation. In the paper, a novel dynamic channel allocation (DCA) is proposed in the TD-SCDMA system, to mitigate the impact of time slot opposing considering smart antenna. When the smart antenna is applied in the system, the inter-cell interference is largely affected by beam pattern and beam direction between neighboring cells. Therefore, the time slot opposing and smart antenna should be considered together in the DCA. The intensive simulations show that the proposed scheme can improve the system capacity compared to the conventional DCA schemes.
Low viscosity LCs have been developed for fast response time improvement of the TFT-LCD Monitors based on TN mode. This low viscosity characteristic s cause the pretilt angle to be changed and the uniformity to degrade. We have studied on the pretilt angle effect by the various components used for low viscosity LCs. We prepared the panels by using these various components and measured pretilt angle for this research. As a result of this research, we have found out that each low viscosity component has the different pretilt angle level and uniformity. For good display quality, it is important to keep the stable pretilt angle. The low viscosity LCs with this stable pretilt angle make it possible to prepare the high performance TFT-LCD Monitor with both fast response time characteristics and good display quality

Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV), transmitted exclusively by the whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) in a circulative manner is one of the most important virus in tomato. Since the first report of TYLCV incidence in Korea in 2008, the virus has rapidly spread nationwide. TYLCV currently causes serious economic losses in tomato production in Korea. Early detection of TYLCV is one of the most important methods to allow rouging of infected tomato plants to minimize the spread of TYLCV disease. We have developed an ultra-rapid and sensitive real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using a new designed real-time PCR system, GenSpectorTM TMC-1000 that is a small and portable real-time PCR machine requiring only a $5{\mu}l$ reaction volume on microchips. The new system provides ultra-high speed reaction (30 cycles in less than 15 minutes) and melting curve analysis for amplified TYLCV products. These results suggest that the short reaction time and ultra sensitivity of the GenSpector$^{TM}$-based real-time PCR technique is suitable for monitoring epidemics and pre-pandemic TYLCV disease. This is the first report for plant virus detection using an ultra-rapid real-time PCR system.
