Novel Peak-to-Average Power Ratio Reduction Methods for OFDM/OQAM Systems

  • The tone reservation method is one of the most effective pre-distortion methods for peak-to-average power ratio reduction in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Its direct application to OFDM systems with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (OQAM) is, however, not effective. In this paper, two novel TR-based methods are proposed, specifically designed for OFDM/OQAM systems by taking into consideration the overlapping nature of OQAM signals. These two methods have different approaches to the generation of the peak-cancelling signal. The first one (overlapped scaling tone reservation) generates the peak-cancelling signal using a least squares approximation algorithm with possible adjacent symbol overlap; the second one (multi-kernel tone reservation) generates the peak-cancelling signal by using multiple impulse-like time domain kernels. It is shown by simulation that, when used in OFDM/OQAM systems, the proposed methods can provide better performance than the direct application of the existing controlled clipping tone reservation method, and even outperform the multi-block tone reservation method.

Flattening Techniques for Pitch Detection (피치 검출을 위한 스펙트럼 평탄화 기법)

  • In speech signal processing, it Is very important to detect the pitch exactly in speech recognition, synthesis and analysis. but, it is very difficult to pitch detection from speech signal because of formant and transition amplitude affect. therefore, in this paper, we proposed a pitch detection using the spectrum flattening techniques. Spectrum flattening is to eliminate the formant and transition amplitude affect. In time domain, positive center clipping is process in order to emphasize pitch period with a glottal component of removed vocal tract characteristic. And rough formant envelope is computed through peak-fitting spectrum of original speech signal in frequency domain. As a results, well get the flattened harmonics waveform with the algebra difference between spectrum of original speech signal and smoothed formant envelope. After all, we obtain residual signal which is removed vocal tract element The performance was compared with LPC and Cepstrum, ACF 0wing to this algorithm, we have obtained the pitch information improved the accuracy of pitch detection and gross error rate is reduced in voice speech region and in transition region of changing the phoneme.

  • The recent summer power peak crisis has been caused by excessive use of cooling loads at daily peak time in summer. The yearly load shape of KEPCO has gradually became very steep valley. Under this situation, more efficient DSM(Demand Side Management) tools are fully required for summer peak clipping and shaving. In this paper, the KEPCO's Jeju-Do model project for DSM, especially for Demand Controller, is presented. Demand Controller was evaluated to have the very high economical efficiency against the investment in equipment, as compared with another DSM tools. There were some serious problem to apply Demand Controller to many customers in the aspect to synchronization with KEPCO's watthour meter. But these problems have solved by Keyin's new Demand Controller using vision algorithm.

A Hybrid Visibility Determination Method to Get Vector Silhouette

  • Silhouette is useful in computer graphics for a number of techniques such as non-photorealistic rendering, silhouette clipping, and blueprint generating. Methods for generating silhouette are classified into three categories: image-based, object-based, and hybrid-based. Hybrid-based method is effective in terms of time complexity but spatial coherence problem still remains. In this paper, we proposed a new hybrid-based method which produces 3D data for silhouette and also guarantees no spatial coherence problem. To verify the efficiency of the proposed algorithm, several experiments are conducted for various 3D models from simple to quite complex. Results show that our algorithm generates no gap between any two consecutive silhouette lines when the silhouette model is magnified significantly.

Effect of Nitrogen Fertilization on the Growth and Thatch Accumulation in Korean Lawn Grass(Zoysia japonica Steud) (질소시비가 한국잔디의 생육과 Thatch 축적에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was carried out in drder to study the changes of morphological characters and thatch weight on N-level and survey times N-levels were 0, 21, 28, 35, 42 and 49 g/m$^2$), respectively. The results are as follows. 1. Thatch weight was significantly different among survey times, and the interaction of survey time N-level. 2. The growth of Zoysia grass and thatch accumulation were incresed by higher N~level The highest value was obtained in all survey times. 3. Most survey characters and thatch accumulation was decreased by growth progressed. 4. Thatch increase rate(TIR) was the lowest at 28g Nm$^2$and T2-T3 period. 5. TIR was the positive significant correlated(P<0.05) with N-level, root weight, clipping weight and thatch weight.

  • 본 논문은 모바일 단말에서 실시간으로 동작하는 딥러닝 기반 경량 초고해상화 기술에 관한 내용이다. 대용량 3차원 메쉬 모델의 비실시간 압축은 실시간 스트리밍 응용 시나리오에서 제약점으로 작용하고 있고, 본 논문에서는 두 입력 텐서의 차원을 일치시켜야 하는 element-wise 덧셈 대신 concatenation을 활용해 연산량을 개선하고, float-to-int8 양자화 과정에서 발생하는 오차를 줄이기 위해 weight clipping 및 regularization 기법을 활용해 초고해상화 화질 성능을 개선하였다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 기존 모바일 초고해상화 기술을 화질 측면에서 0.12dB, 처리 속도 측면에서 13.6ms 개선하였고, Mobile AI & AIM 2022 실시간 이미지 초고해상화 대회에서 1등을 수상하였다.

  • Vector Graphics describes an image with mathematical statements instead of pixel information. Which enables easy scalability without loss in image quality and usually results in a much smaller file size compared with bitmap images. In this paper, we propose Vector Graphics Accelerator for mobile device with scan-line edge flag algorithm to render vector image without sorting process of edge. Proposed Vector Graphics Accelerator was verified with OpenVG 2D Vector image. The estimated processing time of proposed Accelerator with Tiger image is 12ms on Tessellation process, and total rendering time is 208ms. Estimated rendering performance with Tiger image is about 5 frame per second

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of soil microbial fertilizer (SMF) containing Saccharomyces cerevisiae HS-1 and Streptococcus thermophiles HS-2 on the growth of creeping bentgrass. For the pot experiment, the treatments were as follows: no fertilizer (NF), control (3 N g/m2/month), SMF-1 (control+SMF 2 mL/m2/time), and SMF-2 (control+SMF 4 mL/m2/time). For the plot experiment, the treatments were as follows: NF, control, SMFp-1 (control+SMF 1 mL/m2/time), SMFp-2 (control+SMF 2 mL/m2/time), and SMFp-3 (control+SMF 4 mL/m2/time). In the pot experiment, visual turfgrass quality and the uptake amount of nitrogen (N) and potassium (K) were increased under the SMF treatments, whereas the content of chlorophyll (a, b, and a+b) and clipping yield were not considerably different compared with the control. In the pot experiment, the amount of SMF positively correlated with visual turfgrass quality and uptake amount of N and K. In the plot experiment, turfgrass density was increased by 12.9-19.2% under SMFp treatments compared with the control. These results indicated that the application of SMF containing Sa. cerevisiae HS-1 and St. thermophiles HS-2 improved the quality, density, and growth of creeping bentgrass via prompting the uptake of N and K.

AKARI OBSERVATIONS OF THE FLUCTUATIONS OF THE NEAR-INFRARED BACKGROUND II

  • We report a spatial fluctuation analysis of the sky brightness in the near-infrared from observations towards the north ecliptic pole (NEP) by AKARI at 2.4 and $3.2{\mu}m$. As a follow up study of our previous work on the Monitor field of AKARI, we used NEP deep survey data, which covered a circular area of about 0.4 square degrees, in order to extend fluctuation analysis at angular scales up to 1000". After pre-processing, additional correction procedures were done to correct time varying components and instrumental effects such as MUXbleed. To remove resolved objects, we applied $2{\sigma}$ clipping and point spread function (PSF) subtraction. We finally obtained mosaicked images which can be used for the study of various diffuse emissions in the near-infrared sky and found that there are spatial structures in the mosaicked images using a power spectrum analysis.

Glue Embolization of Ruptured Anterior Thalamoperforating Artery Aneurysm in Patient with Both Internal Carotid Arteries Occlusion

  • Thalamoperforating artery aneurysms are rarely reported in the literature. We report an extremely rare case of ruptured distal anterior thalamoperforating artery aneurysm which was treated by endovascular obliteration in a patient with occlusion of both the internal carotid arteries (ICAs) : A 72-year-old woman presented with severe headache and loss of consciousness. Initial level of consciousness at the time of admission was drowsy and the Glasgow Coma Scale score was 14. Brain computed tomography (CT) scan was performed which revealed intracerebral hemorrhage in right basal ganglia, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and intraventricular hemorrhage. The location of the aneurysm was identified as within the globus pallidus on CT angiogram. Conventional cerebral angiogram demonstrated occlusion of both the ICAs just distal to the fetal type of posterior communicating artery and the aneurysm was arising from right anterior thalamoperforating artery (ATPA). A microcatheter was navigated into ATPA and the ATPA proximal to aneurysm was embolized with 20% glue. Post-procedural ICA angiogram demonstrated no contrast filling of the aneurysm sac. The patient was discharged without any neurologic deficit. Endovascular treatment of ATPA aneurysm is probably a more feasible and safe treatment modality than surgical clipping because of the deep seated location of aneurysm and the possibility of brain retraction injury during surgical operation.
