As the use of vehicle route application and LBS(location based service) are fast grew, the importance of maintaining road network data is also increased. To maintain road data accuracy, we can collect road data by driving real roads with probe vehicle, or using digital image processing for the extraction of roads from aerial imagery. After compare the new road data to current database, we can update the road database, but that job is mostly time and money consuming or can be inaccurate. In this paper, an updating method of using GPS(global positioning system) enabled cell phone is proposed. By using GPS phone, we can update road database easily and sufficiently accurately.
The e-Logistics means the virtual business activity and service architecture among the logistics companies based on the Internet technology. The management of vehicles' location in most conventional vehicle tracking system has some critical defects when it deals with data which are continuously changed. It means the conventional vehicle tracking system based on the conventional database is unable eventually to cope with the environment that should manage the frequently changed location of vehicles. The important things in the evaluation of the vehicle tracking system is to determine the threshold of cost of database ,update period and communication period between vehicles and the system. In other words, the difference between the reallocation of vehicle and the data in database can evaluate the overall performance of vehicle tracking systems. Most of the previous works considers only the information that is valid at the current time, and is hard to manage efficiently the past and future information. To overcome this problem, the efforts on moving objects management system(MOMS) and uncertainty processing have been started from a few years ago. In this paper, we propose an uncertainty processing model and system implementation of moving object that tracks the location of the vehicles. We adopted both linear-interpolation method and trigonometric function to chase up the location of vehicles for the past time as well as future time, respectively. We also explain the comprehensive examples of MOMS and uncertainty processing in parcel application that is one of major application of e-Logistics domain.

Recently, with the rapid development of mobile computing, wireless positioning technologies, and the generalization of wireless internet, LBS (Location Based Service) which utilizes location information of moving objects is serving in many fields. In order to serve LBS efficiently, the location data server that periodically stores location data of moving objects is required. Formerly, GIS servers have been used to store location data of moving objects. However, GIS servers are not suitable to store location data of moving objects because it was designed to store static data. Therefore, in this paper, we designed and implemented an extended SLDS(Short-term Location Data Subsystem) for real-time Location Based Services. The extended SLDS is extended from the SLDS which is a subsystem of the GALIS(Gracefully Aging Location Information System) architecture that was proposed as a cluster-based distributed computing system architecture for managing location data of moving objects. The extended SLDS guarantees real-time service capabilities using the TMO(Time-triggered Message-triggered Object) programming scheme and efficiently manages large volume of location data through distributing moving object data over multiple nodes. The extended SLDS also has a little search and update overhead because of managing location data in main memory. In addition, we proved that the extended SLDS stores location data and performs load distribution more efficiently than the original SLDS through the performance evaluation.
This study proposes a novel video traffic flow detection method based on machine vision technology. The three-frame difference method, which is one kind of a motion evaluation method, is used to establish initial background image, and then a statistical scoring strategy is chosen to update background image in real time. Finally, the background difference method is used for detecting the moving objects. Meanwhile, a simple but effective shadow elimination method is introduced to improve the accuracy of the detection for moving objects. Furthermore, the study also proposes a vehicle matching and tracking strategy by combining characteristics, such as vehicle's location information, color information and fractal dimension information. Experimental results show that this detection method could quickly and effectively detect various traffic flow parameters, laying a solid foundation for enhancing the degree of automation for traffic management.
Until now, many indexing methods that can reduce update cost have been proposed for managing massive moving objects. Because indexing methods for moving objects have to be updated periodically for managing moving objects that change their location data frequently. However these kinds indexing methods occur big load that exceed system capacity when the number of moving objects increase dramatically. In this paper, we propose the update frequency reducing method to combine MapReduce and existing indices. We use the update request grouping method for each moving object by using MapReduce. We decide to update by comparing the latest data and the oldest data in grouping data. We reduce update frequency by updating the latest data only. When update is delayed, for the data should not be lost and updated periodically, we store the data in a certain period of time in the hash table that keep previous update data. By the performance evaluation, we can prove that the proposed method reduces the update frequency by comparison with methods that are not applied the proposed method.

In this paper, we propose the location determination system of an agent mobile device using the information provided by the WLAN(Wireless LAN) infrastructure. This system is configured as a typical ESS(Extended Service Set)-type WLAN structure with real-time location positioning engine and thru AP(Access Point) controller. The positioning engine collects the information of agent devices using SNMP(Small Network Management Protocol) thru AP controller and utilize those information as Cell ID. for LBS(Location Based Service). In the result of a real office environment implementation, the average success rate of inter-AP roaming is measured to 62.5% and the duration time of the device information update within the AP is average of 11 second of time, which means this system is adaptable to the location based service of above average accuracy but somewhat less urgency.

In order to prevent subsidence in urban areas, which is a major cause of damage to aging underground facilities, an integrated underground space map is being produced for systematic management of underground facilities. However, there is a problem of delaying the update time because an unupdated underground facility object is included in the process of updating the underground space integrated map. In this paper, we proposed a method to shorten the update time of the integrated map by selecting only the updated objects required for the update process of the underground space integrated map based on the central point of the underground facilities. Through the comparison of the centroid, the number of search targets is greatly reduced to shorten the search speed, and the distance of the actual location values between the two objects is calculated whether or not the objects are the same. The proposed method shows faster performance as the number of data increases, and the updated object can be reflected in the underground space integrated map about four times faster than the existing method.

Location privacy has been a serious concern for mobile users who use location-based services to acquire geographical location continuously. Spatial cloaking technique is a well-known privacy preserving method, which blurs an exact user location into a cloaked area to meet privacy requirements. However, cloaking for continuous moving object suffers from cloaked area size problem as it is unlikely for all objects travel in the same direction. In this paper, we propose a grid-based privacy preservation method with an improved Earth Mover's Distance(EMD) metric weight update scheme for semantic cloaking. We also define a representative cloaking area which protects continuous location privacy for moving users. Experimental implementation and evaluation exhibit that our proposed method renders good efficiency and scalability in cloaking processing time and area size control. We also show that our proposed method outperforms the existing method by successfully protects location privacy of continuous moving objects against various adversaries.

In personal communication systems, location management of mobile terminals is required to connect incoming calls to the mobile terminals. Investigation of effective location update and paging strategies is important to reduce the cost of location management. In this study, we propose a paging strategy considering the mobile terminals' residence patterns. The first paging area is introduced, which is characterized by the set of cells in the location area where mobile terminals usually stay for a significant period of time. We propose the decision criterion of the first paging area by comparing the cost against zone-based strategy. For an incoming call. we perform the sequential paging by the order of the first paging area and the rest of cells in the location area called by the second paging area. Thus the paging cost is greatly reduced, especially when the called mobile terminal is located in the first paging area. The proposed strategy is expected to be more effective than existing strategy using anchor cell in the location area because it reflects various residence patterns of mobile terminals.
Recently, small-scale mobile network which is composed of many mobile devices in a man becomes popular. Also, Examples of large-scale mobile network can be thought access networks deployed on public transportation such as ships, trains and buses. To provide seamless mobility for mobile nodes in this mobile network, binding update messages must be exchanged frequently. However, it incurs network overhead increasingly and decreases energy efficiency of mobile router. If we try to reduce the number of the messages to cope with the problem, it may happen the security -related problems conversely Thus, mobile router needs a effective algorithm to update location information with low cost and to cover security problems. In this paper, mobility management scheme based on mobile router's mobility pattern is proposed. Whenever each mobile router leaves a visiting network, it records related information as moving log. And then it periodically computes mean resident time for all visited network, and saves them in the profile. If each mobile router moves into the visited network hereafter, the number of binding update messages can be reduced since current resident time may be expected based on the profile. At this time, of course, security problems can happen. The problems, however, are solved using key credit, which just sends some keys once. Through extensive experiments, bandwidth usages are measured to compare binding update messages in proposed scheme with that in existing scheme. From the results, we can reduce about 65% of mobility-management-related messages especially when mobile router stays more than 50 minutes in a network. Namely, the proposed scheme improves network usage and energy usage of mobile router by decreasing the number of messages and authorization procedure.
